I have been on the Tarmacs since Vietnam with family, friends, and People with Children waiting for their loved ones, mine and a boy I was going to marry! Thank You for putting into words how Solemn and Beautiful their job truly is! The Boy I lost was a Pilot from a long line of Marine Pilots, his Dad and Uncle Brought him Home! I know how they feel to help they still are today!
As a Veteran thank you for the beautiful tribute, respect and honor given to the fallen and their families.Hopefully it can bring some kind of closure and peace to others as it did for myself.Thank you. Here’s to hoping we can raise public awareness to the twenty two Veterans whom take their own lives every month due to PTSD and the physical and emotional pain they suffer from and provide help and healing from their hopelessness 🙏
I have heard that song many, many times, I have yet to listen without tears! Then again, I can't hear our national anthem and feelings the same! I have buried former classmates and family members who have served, and several who gave everything do so. My father and his brother served in WWll. Dad lived to be 90 years old. I wish I could tell him one more time how proud of him I am.
this is one of a handful of songs in English I keep coming back to, I never served in a combat zone nor have I lost anyone to war, but I think I can imagine what this song means to those whose loved ones come home in caskets & those who bring said caskets home, as much as I may try to convince myself that I would make for a great military pilot 'if not for XYZ', I don't think I could do what these men and women do, I would break down every time I heard the assorted noises of a casket being brought onboard my plane.
