6:49 BINGO it's true. It's really the stylists fault because a lot of stylists do have an issue sharing information for fear of not retaining their clients which is a MYTH!
I really enjoyed your take on this! I think that it’s important to acknowledge everyone’s contribution to the natural hair community. I think that it’s also important to do whatever works as it pertains to our hair…for me…I love being able to care for my hair myself. No one (thus far) can style my natural hair the way that I’ve learned how to style it, giving it the moisture and look/definition/fluff/shine that only I know it can have through spending time washing and caring for my hair myself. I also have relied heavily on stylist to trim/cut my hair for me even though I really want to learn how to properly do it myself. All in all…I appreciate both youtubers and professionals… both have their place (fluid place…) in the community and neither is better than the other. Both can be teachers both should be teachable. It all comes to preference when it comes to learning how to care for your hair…I would love it if stylists collabed with influencers. I always shout out my stylists over the years! I’ve had some great ones!💕great video!
Your comment goes in the hall of fame! 🙌🏾 I couldn't agree with you more Sis! I feel like because we take our time with our hair and nurture it, no one can treat it like us 🧡 Yes professionals definitely need to be relied on when it comes to cuts/trimming the hair. There's definitely room for everyone's perspective, stylists included. Some of them just be acting high sididdy though geez 🤣 (imo) There's no need to denounce UA-camrs for trying at least! I appreciate your support, your perspective and Thank you for watching! 🥰
@@artofnia also another thought that just popped up in my little mind… for some people’s lifestyles, professionals are needed because they either don’t have the desire or the time to care for their our hair so they outsource it to a stylist which is fine too…but it shouldn’t be frowned upon if one wants to do their hair themselves…☺️
@@jmacknaturalista yes exactly! Ppl do rely on hairstylists heavy and nothing wrong with that...now finding the perfect hairstylists may the journey begin LOL but once you find one who's great, it's like pure gold...but yessss you're so right 🙌🏾
I don't think hair stylists have an issue with hobbyist creating content. What is problematic is content creators positioning themselves as "experts". I can at least speak on behalf of myself. It's one thing to come and show what you're doing, it's another to try and "educate" on a subject you are simply experimenting with. All professionals aren't skilled either which is why I believe so many consumers run to UA-cam to seek some form of enlightenment. Which is completely fine, there just needs to be a line drawn in the sand, and I believe that is what we're witnessing. Thanks for speaking on this.
Thanks for all of your comments! I definitely see what you mean, not all hair stylists have an issue with UA-camrs. However the points I made in this video was about stylists who do have an issue. Nonetheless you do make a lot of valid points and I'm here for it 🙌🏾 I appreciate your feedback/review. Thank you so much for watching! 😊
@@artofnia of course. I was agreeing with you but shedding light on WHY I think stylists do have the issue. It’s less about the content/presence and more about trying to be the authoritative figure in a field creators have yet to master.
I agree 👍 100% with you Sista! I'm from the oldschool in all you needed is shampoo and conditioner then dry your hair and grease it up then style it and you wore 😉 ready to go and hide out.
Excellent points and the main thing that you said that I agree with is just because you give your points and tips, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AS WELL! Everything is not for everybody period. We learn from each other.
The stylist told the truth and they're tired of clients coming in with dehydrated hair with oil build up , I don't have an issue with their delivery because I like honesty. And it's not that they are just licensed these stylist have worked on hundreds of heads and know what they're talking about.
UA-camrs aren't always right that's true. It's the tearing each other down part that I'm referring to which is terrible imo. Some stylists destroy people hair too (hence why people have horror hair stories from going to stylists sometimes).
@@artofnia of course there are some bad stylist, but the ones who've been telling the truth as of recent are legit bomb stylist I follow them on UA-cam their work is amazing. I just wish they cane out with the truth a long time ago
I had some pseudo dude throw shade at me when I entered the salon he worked at with my natural hair before social media. I worked with my natural hair without a salon visit for decades and not looking back. That salon no longer exists...
12:40 I say this all the time, the client-consumer relationship should be a collaboration, not a dictatorship.

13:31 But it always comes to an end once the trend dies down. because the products/ingredients aren't ideal for achieving the fundamentals

I use stuff in my hair that you can eat. Ain't worried about scalp burns, alopecia and the like.
Exactly 💯 I use food in my hair too

Oh wow look at that, thanks for sharing your experience 🧡 Same! I barely go to a salon myself as well
