I was doing a feasibility study for a client on establishing a local tire manufacturing company in Pakistan. There was no proper estimate of exiting revenue lost due to smuggling of used tires in Pakistan (these tires are retreaded which is "illegal" as per applicable laws. During our market data collection we saw ambulances carrying smuggled tires dropping off bulk of tires in prominent tire market located near Nursery, Karachi.
There are reports indicating USD 15 Billion smuggling market for these tires. It was during this engagement, the Anchor lost his life. There must be a connection between his death and the black market. They were too close to the fire.
