@@popireal3628in all those playoff runs, Rip ran Reggie Miller two straight years into retirement, ran Michael Redd, Ray Allen, D Wade twice, Larry Hughes, Kerry Kittles, Kobe, and Ben Gordon crazy. In that time the only defender who had success against Rip was Bruce Bowen in the 2005 Finals, the reason I said Bowen, not Tim Duncan should have been the Finals MVP. Had Rip been his usual self, Detroit would have won that series.
I never really looked up to Rip Hamilton. (I even didn't know him) I got into basketball later in life, and stumbled upon a UA-cam video of a player whose smooth mid-range game, that signature jump shot with constant movement, really resonated with me. I worked on replicating his off ball fluid motion, and it became my bread and butter on the court. It's kind of ironic, because he wasn't my favorite player growing up, but his style-that effortless grace in the mid-range-is still serving me well at 39, even against guys half my age.
This is the one player from the 2004 title team that should have been in the Basketball HOF. Think about this, he won both the NCAA title and NBA title as the huge underdog both times to legendary teams and head coaches . Duke in 1999 was being called the greatest college team ever with a future NBA top pick (Elton Brand) and Rip dominated to win the Final Four MOP. Then in 2004, the wives of the Lakers told USA Today that they were getting rings for their pets after they win their 4th title. That Lakers team also had a former No.1 pick in Shaq. Rip dominated Kobe Bryant that series.
@@flashdamc Ben lowered the standards for the HOF . You think he had a better career than Laimbeer, who also has done great as a WNBA coach? Billups was awful before he came to Detroit His stats alone are nowhere near HOF worthy. Rip was the only one who had had a HOF career which includes college and NBA. 15.2 points, 5 assists and 41 percent shooting for 6 or 7 teams is not HOF worthy.
Rip was a real beast back in the day 😂 Kobe with the face guarding
*Illegal* face guarding. But it's all cool when it's someone from your team doing it, right? 👍
@@bubufubu hahahahaha! Thank you for confirming G! You just can’t help yourself, YOU LOVE TO ARGUE! Have a great evening fine sir! I’m done with you!
Man Rip used to run around too damn much 😂. Couldn’t stand him as Laker. But would take him on the team though if ever available 😂
