Just got a 16 Bit Boy to play SNES Games! Love Super Castlevania, Sparkster & all games starting with SUPER!! It really did live up to it's name Super Nintendo! In my opinion the next Nintendo console to do what the SNES did was the Wii. Glade to hear you reached 30,000 Subscribers! Thanks for the Retro Break!

One of my favourite consoles. Yes I remember gamestation in Birmingham I remember going to pick the WII up from there when I could finally pick one up. Happy memories.

Love seeing your passion for retro games. Especially for the greatest console of all time. I too got Super Mario All-Stars with my SNES as a child. What a game. 4 full fantastic games in 1 for your very first game for a console is pretty incredible to think about these days.
Btw I was also loved the pictures on the all-stars/SNES box. So many memories!

Kirby Superstar (Fun Pack) and Dream Course are a couple of my favorite SNES games of all time. So much fun content in them and even better in multiplayer.

Those are some great memories and you definitely have an awesome collection of games for it!
Thanks to tubers like yourself I finally played Soul Blazer for the first time which is a fantastic game.
I was a Mega Drive kid growing up and to be honest I’m glad as the SNES has a fantastic library but we didn’t get some of the best games for the system in the UK. I still can’t believe some of the best RPGs like Chrono Trigger didn’t get released here. Now that I have a SNES Classic I’m trying to tick off the ones I still need to play.

Great video... Very nostalgic for us who grew up with the SNES. Street Fighter II and Mario Kart are my top titles on the system.

Happy 30,000!! The SNES is one of my favorite consoles (tho I’ve only ever played those games on the Wii or 3DS Virtual Console) so it was great to hear you talk about some of your favorite memories! Lots of hints at future SNES game videos too, lots of fun! Hope you’re doing great, cheers to another 30,000!

@RetroBreak well the game I got with the console was Power rangers Fighting edition. Very simplistic gameplay but beautiful spreite work.
But I got a repro of Star Ocean soon after.
Then for my bday (may) I got DKC, DKC 3, Pitfall the mayan adventure (surprisingly good) and mario allstars + super mario world

SNES is my favorite console of all time as well.
For me, I hated going to discs on PS1 with the load times and terrible 3D looks, of course I loved the games, Ridge racer, rage racer, FF7, MGS1 and all that, but I always, even then, felt like SNES games looked better. Early 3D was just not great to me. Of course I still play those same games now so I am not hating on it, just to me, SNES was the primo era of gaming. Then we got odd looking 3D for a long while and I feel like we peaked semi modernly with PS3 and 360. Although, I feel like the Switch is probably the modern peak of Nintendo for sure. I hope the next system plays the Switch games. What a console that will be if so. My god. I also want a snappier UI. Definitely my least favorite part of the Switch. The UI is just not snappy, especially trying to look through the store. That is a nightmare.

Terranigma is my personal all time favorite game! I could see Illusion of Time being it’s equal only if it didn’t have that absolutely brutal final boss gauntlet 😂🫣🫠

Congrats on 30K! I had a switchable PAL SNES with modified cart slot too, but once you got this did you play all PAL games in 60hz mode or just the US/JPN games? I think most run fine, but games being in full-screen , full-speed back in the day was a big bonus. I also own the Retrofreak too, great console to have mid to late 2010's.

    Congrats on the well-deserved 30K!
Really great video. Something I've gradually realized about retro gaming is that while all of these great games still hold up today, the actual experience of playing any given one is a profoundly personal, individual thing.
Sure, a classic like Final Fantasy 7 (as a recent example for me) is still a lot of fun today, but the sad reality is that it will never hold the same meaning to me as it does to fans who experienced it back in the day, when its graphics, sound, and story were revolutionary. I, alas, will never have that, mind-blowing, almost magical experience of it.
That's just an example that stuck out to me and made this idea really start to sink in for me, though. The truth, of course, is that every single person has a completely unique experience of every single game. Current life events and circumstances, past experiences and memories, and deep-seated aspects of personality all interface with the game itself to create that unique, sometimes strikingly beautiful experience of a particular game.
And I do find it a bit sad that, no matter how many times I play these classics, I will never be able to see them in that same, beautiful light as those who love them most.
The afterglow of those wonderful experiences belong to the individual alone, and will therefore be lost forever someday. There's something really tragic, but sort of beautiful about that to me.
It's funny, but the iconic Blade Runner scene ("All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain...") only really sank in after I played FF7 and had a somewhat lackluster time with it, lol. And that helped me see that all of these ideas extend far beyond video games, out into all mediums of art, and beyond even that into all our life experiences.
I'm not sure if this comes across as somewhat depressing, but to me it's really not that bad. Like I said, it's sort of beautiful in a way.
And anyway, even if you can't share the actual experiences themselves with me, I always enjoy at least catching glimpses of them whenever you share your memories with us. It always helps me gain that much more appreciation and perspective on these games (and on life as a whole!) :)

I do miss the huge Gamestation on New Street in Birmingham, especially when it had the two floors open!
Did the 3DS midnight launch and Skyrim midnight launch there as a teen, was a great shop

Are you still going for a complete Gameboy set? I got to about 100 to go Europe and North American games. Minus the Japanese games. Then burned out because they just skyrocketed f**k covid. I get one here n there. May pick it up later if prices come down to earth.

@@RetroBreak I still say the cassette tape version of displaying is best they fit nicely without the posts. I'm just waiting for someone to make template covers for the entire collection I'm not too handy with how to make them.
