I needed to hear this, my attitude has been the same cause my mom was very humble and that didn't get her anywhere with my dad. I thought I'll be different, he's not gonna rule me. But it didn't worked. To the point where my husband said I was controlling. Today we're growing better cause I change my perspective. We don't argue we discuss, and listen. My hubby as always said I have so much love for you, all I need is respect. And I totally recommend the book 5 love language. I think when we step back as women and allow our men to find out for themselves it really works as well. My husband as being learning through church programs recently and we have been discussing. I totally agree! I, too, had that "I'm a boss" mentality that caused a lot of arguments in my relationship. But when I began to submit to my husband, he, then, was able to lead in our household and cover me. Like Tina said, the behaviors I wanted for years showed up in months because we began to function in order!

First, change your language regarding marriage. The "Marriage is hard" stuff is a long-standing cliché that people say b/c it sounds right. But, why can't it be something like "Marriage is good" or "Marriage is beautiful". The bible says 'You just have what you say.' Quick testimony: My pastor, married for over 25 years, vowed along with his wife in the beginning of their relationship not to EVER use the word 'divorce' no matter how mad they became at one another. Nor, say things like "I hate I married you." To date, they said they have stuck to that vow and it has helped them put things into perspective when they had heated arguments.
I must say my wife and I have seen how God has saved your relationship and y'all two are wonderful, great examples of what submitting yourselves to God can truly do. We are truly encouraged and every time we go trough something I always think back to you two and I know the power of God is real and he is changing us into a better union. We have had some terrible days but with our obedience God had brought us so far. I absolutely love this couple and I pray you all keep encouraging us all. We need it, YOU two even need it.
