No, we don't get tired of seeing you do any part of what you do. Do you know how encouraging it is to see a hard working family making a home and transforming the desert into an oasis 😊❤👏👍💪
We love watching you as you create, so no we don’t get tired of it and we know it’s challenging for y’all to keep a pace so we are here to root you onward towards your goals!!!
I was thinking how great it will be that later down the road, your grandchildren and great grandchildren will be able to watch these videos and see just how cool Grandpa and Grandma were. And it amazes me how awesome your kids are in picking up those skills. I know you two are so proud of them,
Those who push you to go faster gotta remember--things take time. Kids grow up and need memories beyond building. Parents need down time. All the regular chores need to be done--takes time. I think you are doing wonderfully! Just keep on keepin' on. And BTW, I love the variety of music.
Hi…. I was wondering. My world has been turned upside down with the passing of my sweet husband. The kids are all busy I am retired. I have a strong back and an RV. I know your kids are busy and sometimes you are short handed. I was wondering if I just plunked myself over in a corner, if I could help. I just need some access to water for washing up, etc…. I’m all self contained with food, etc…. Would you like some help for a few days or so? Free help… no workshop, no food, no strings. Just plain help. What are your thoughts?
I love watching your videos. Your family is amazing. You all work so hard and have achieved so much. Don't let any criticism affect your marvelous spirit. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
❤ Amazing how you are progressing! Don't listen to any negativity. You are a great family, and we love you! Have a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I came across your channel through another families ytube channel and have subscribed and enjoy it Greatly. BUT😮, watching today as you were answering much asked questions I was taken aback by the way you approached viewers. You and your children work very hard but I have asked myself a few of the same questions ,knowing they may have already been asked but not knowing how to locate the answers in previous videos. If you or any one has tips on how to do so without looking for a needle in a hay stack, myself and others (some probably new to your channel) may be able to avoid annoying you with repetitive questions. Thanks guys.
I used a purple sparkle epoxy on my concrete floor and it looked amazing. With concrete floors you have tons of options to customize each room if you choose to. I highly recommend the “garage floor” epoxy since it will wear forever. Awesome job everyone!
i love how uniform your rows look. i have watched others who build the same type andbby far i prefer yours. you remain top for uniform rows and also teaching others that it may be a shorfcut but not neccessarily the safest or best for stability. not only do you say what the correct procedure is but show it . keeping yourself and your family safe is paramount go you.. keep up the great work.
You are making fantastic progress on your place. It amazes me how your children jump into work like they do; it isn’t something people see nowadays. You both are incredible parents with well-rounded children. I look forward to watching your progress. It is exciting to see a family that sticks together like you do. Good job! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I’m so excited for you guys, it’s all starting to come together and you have done so much recently. Not only is it cool that your kids can do stuff with power tools but are willing to do it, big round of applause for all there hard work and good nature (you must be extremely proud of them)
I don't mind watching videos of your family laying bags, cutting door frame supports, or whatever you need to do to get your lovely home completed. It just makes me happy. It's Saturday! Time for TSH! Cat on my lap. Coffee. It's a whole event and personal therapy for me.
💜😉I'm so glad you did your Q&A's because I get tired of the questions in the comments that you already answered. You have invested your homestead to share with your followers. Your children are invested, too. But a timeline for the finished build ... Be realistic folks. You don't have a team who are dedicated daily to the build. You are a family, & you live basically regular lives besides building your house. You have homeschool, the kids have activities such as horseback lessons. Your oldest is holding down her own job & etc. You have daily chores & regular upkeep of the property. You aren't putting all of it on video & I don't expect you to. Did I mention that you are perfectionists? That slows things down too. Kudos to you❣️
Love the way the build is coming along. When’s it gonna be done? J/K! You guys rock ❤ Slow and steady wins the race. You’ll have a beautifully finished, well thought out dream home in a couple few years. “Journey before destination”
Good works it is amazing how results start mounting up when you get to concentrate on one task . The Lord is blessing you in many wats that you have not realised yet . A family who lives together , works together will appreciates each other with abundance !
I have a question for all those people who are asking you questions. Why haven't you watched all the videos from the beginning? Jonathan, Ashley, You got this. Great job. You're planning the work and working the plan. Some of these people need to come to help you rather than delay your progress with silly questions.
I really enjoy your videos I once was a full-time RV person myself . I've even spent some time in your area but I didn't know you guys were there yet. If I had of known I would have helped, keep up the good work
I love your concept of organicly building! A little like I am knitting my projects and the come out BEAUTIFUL - like your house! Just keep going and know you are well loved and appreciated ♥
We are so impressed with your channel. We watch every time you drop. Being able to meet you and go to your work shops is extraordinary. We also love the consistency of your drops. We wanted to go to your last workshop very much but we could not get the time away to do it. We wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. From Mark and Erin in Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
25:15 Hey there, just a quick note on the link to the bags! The one in the description has "bag" at the end, which redirects to the Volm site. That happened on the workshop video as well, and I was assuming incorrectly that it meant your supply was sold out. When I typed the link as it appears in the video, I get to the correct page. Thanks for putting this together!
Yeah we usually just link people to Volm so I think that gets copied into each description automatically. Occasionally we do the local bulk order and that's just tinyshinyhome.com/hyperadobe - sorry for the confusion!
So much love and respect to you folks.. house is looking amazing.. even if it takes 3 years. It's going to look so much better for taking your time and learning things first. Keep on, keeping on!
"Everything Is Fine" :D. My motto five and a half years ago sitting in a chair dreaming, planning and making progress to escape the slog and now I live on a hill can see the ocean and the mountains and my dream is a reality. It seemed like it would never happen, and stuff takes work (fixing up our old oldhouse to sell~brutal work) moving out to a temp place, living in a trailer in late grandma's driveway, sorting and organizing and energizing people for the final push. Even moving here three and a half years ago was not the end....just the middle. Every time I feel tired and worn out I just look outside and breathe in the fresh air and appreciate the moments. Everything IS Fine :D All the time. Love watching you make your dreams come true. (and the dogs and cats and goats and chickens too ;) )
A little trick to drilling screws I was taught is to start the drill in reverse mode, create a small hole, and continue in forward to complete. Merry Christmas 🎄
Ashley, You will get there! I always am excited to see your progress, even though I know you are farther along than we know in the videos! Merry Christmas to you all and a very happy, healthy, and wealthy New Year!
No, I don’t get tired of watching you drill in screws! I love seeing the progress, hearing the music, seeing the animals, and the scenery! Oh my gosh, the Scenery! So awesome!
Keep doing what your doing. Sometimes when your lifting or pushing I find myself moving on my couch. It's weird but I enjoy your utube. Merry Xmas from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada
I love watching your “build”! I’m sure it’s got to take an immense amount of determination and courage to take on this type of project and all the while teaching your children and others also. Thank you for inserting clips of your kitties and dogs. They are so cute and apparently want to be apart of this adventure. ❤
Course 11, Woo Hoo!!! After today the days will start to get longer. So glad for you Ashley that you recognized that you were struggling & found help that works for you. For the longest time seeing progress was slow going. Now it’s in your face. Every bit you do is immediately apparent. When you break it down into numbers it’s mind boggling. Love all the videos, seeing the kids & the animals, and the music. Wishing you all a blessed, happy and safe Christmas ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the update guys.. all makes better sense now. You've come so far. Your progress has been amazing... especially when one sees all the various DETAILS that go into the build. The R&D is a BIG part of it all. 👍
I have no clue how I came across your guys's videos but extremely happy i did because ever since Ive been playing your videos back to back watched all Playlist even leave it on for the dog when im gone come home fall asleep and woke to your videos.
Hi Ash, Jon and family, I am following your Chanel more for the inspiration that you all provide. You all set a great example for families. I’m sure we see the mostly positive yet know that life isn’t that smooth. You are taking on such a great challenge and I do enjoy every minute of your updates. You are very good at presenting as you are with educating in your workshops. I am 70 and retired but when younger I dreamt of alternative home building only to be put off by the over regulation of council by laws, if they don’t understand the build they don’t seem to want to learn, it’s easy to keep everything”beige”. As in little boxes made of ticky tacky so they are all the same. Ash, when I was a mental health nurse I supported people through all stages of their recovery. From hat experience I noted that negativity can be the greatest jail of all, if you say you can’t then you won’t, you won’t try to learn to develop the attitude and skills to get it done. Ash, you are getting it done, getting tired but that’s understandable given all you do. As a nurse I supported other mental health professionals using reflection. Self reflection to learn how we develop our mindset to get moving, to keep moving and to stay on track and also recognize the need for a rest. You guys are like dynamos, so take care, recharge and know that you do have many positive supporters. I am still thinking that a fill auger would be an interesting tool to develop to get the fill higher with only one person on the wall. See you on your next.
It seems like you'll soon be reaching a point where it will be easier to set up staging areas to lay several courses between windows and doors before moving on. 7:17
I love your answers! Off grid living is complicated and so are the details and the finances. If you aren’t on this journey then it can be difficult to understand and I think you are doing great sharing your journey!
Thanks!! Love watching this house go up, building one's own is a LOT of work and more work again; but you'll finish. *** Check into an auger to lift the mix to the top of the wall, you may find a used one that you could make a mobile stand. Check with an agricultural place for some ideas. Ok, good job.
I saw a guy in Utah build one of these houses but they didn't use window and door frames they just built the wall solid and then they came back with a concrete wall saw and cut all the holes out like in a tilt up concrete building And they use day or bit to drill all holes for plumbing electrical and whoever they needed it it was pretty fascinating
Good one ya'all! Love the Q&A's I hope ya all have a safe and Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year! Oh I have a question for ya'all. I used to manage the Tringle T guest ranch many many many years ago and there were so many rattle snakes that I cought and relocated close to the cabins and bar. So my question is when you moved there did you have a rattle snake problem and what about now? Have any of you pets been bitten by rattle snakes?
Just a thought or 2: Are you going to put cleats in the outer wall to tie the framed bedroom walls to? This would add structural support to the outer wall. I noticed a new cross member on a doorway with a ramp. Would vertical studs stiffen the form and still allow the ramp to be used
The framed walls will only be connected to the floor and celing. They aren't really going to provide much additional rigidity to the earthbag walls. The roof beams/rafters will, though. The forms are already built with vertical studs, but with the bowing inward in the middle you have to go across as well. We did talk about how we designed them so they can be taken out when that doorway ramp is in use or as we get higher up on the forms.
Content is always interesting, but I continued to be impressed with your editing skills. Breaking up the video into different segments, but the choice of music with specific tempo always fits perfectly. Plaudits on your extra work to make your videos interesting and pleasant to watch
I can't even tell you when dinner will be finished! 😆I certainly wouldn't expect you to know when your house will be finished. Your process is just so much fun to watch!
As always you guys are amazing, question for you is would it be beneficial to add timber cleats in between your bedroom windows to add additional fixing points for your timber framed bedroom walls ? To help secure the short bags between the bedroom windows and walls.
Great video, as usual! About the workshops, I wonder if there could be a sweet spot - one that would be less work for you but still boost productivity. Perhaps those who've already learned through your workshop could return (organized by one of them), fully self-sustainable (motorhome-style with their own facilities and kitchens), to help you move faster once you get up to the higher levels... just a thought.
Those BACK BRACES are life savers when you are doing work day after day.... They make the difference at the end of each day for older folk and being able to reach down and tie a shoe lace or pick up something on the ground.... Your kids are SMART to be using them, I had to learn the hard way after pushing to get too much done on a construction project.....
Love all that you guys do. I watch UA-cam because there is nothing good on TV anymore. It will take as long as needed to build the house, you are a crew of four to six most of the time. However your kids are getting to older hopefully they can stay with you while they go to college. With the acreage that you have I can see two more small earth bag houses on the property for the kids. . Keep up the great work that you do. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Anaconda Missouri
Nice course 11, but is it close to 12? We'll see in the next great Video! Happy Christmas and New Year to you all! Look on the bright side too, after today we head back toward longer days and summer!
Yes, infloor heat! Keep thinking and listening to each other. Let the pro's handle that big concereate pour. That takes ALOT of special tools and skills. It is expensive for a reason.
Thanks for including the FAQ in this video. Here's another one you probably get asked a billion times. it's a 2 parter. A. How's your Cell phone reception out there? and B. When you finish your house, you'll be surrounded by 2 foot thick earth walls, a metal roof (and if you do stucco, a metal wire cage) Will your cell phones function inside your house?
See From DEAD ZONES to FAST WI-FI: Our UniFi Mesh Setup ua-cam.com/video/s_p_dG9Zw9g/v-deo.html. We’ll be using this as a base and expanding it into the house design. Cell reception is actually pretty good, but we’ll be using the fiber for inside buildings.

Hola👏 from New Mexico 🌶️...No way do I get tired of watching and I like the music also. You folks need breaks. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎵🎵🎵🎄⛄
When you build a circular wall the entire wall is it's oun buttress. Your house coming together, soon you will at the top of the window and doors... Then you can design the top row and then the roof and rafters. In a fashion that county will allow. Your doing great just keep progressing and soon you will be dried in and plastering ECT..
I love you guys and this awesome project. Thank you so much for sharing this journey. Love the FAQs and have wondered all of those things myself just haven’t asked…Thanks to those folks who took the time to ask. A sushi date sounds fantastic; but you know it’s dead easy to make and a great “party” food/activity, just put out a tray of ingredients (far fewer than you’d imagine) some Saran wrapped bamboo mats everybody rolls a few. It always gets competitive and everybody wants to try everybody else’s. Onigiri is even easier and kinda scratches that sushi itch. Call me if you need suggestions…
Have you looked into getting some manner of dirt conveyor/elevator? There may even be someone on the channel that has one or someone that can build one. Seems like that would help so much when you start using scaffolding.
I second that. The focus and effort this crew displays is admirable, to say the least.
….. and the music.
I was thinking how great it will be that later down the road, your grandchildren and great grandchildren will be able to watch these videos and see just how cool Grandpa and Grandma were. And it amazes me how awesome your kids are in picking up those skills. I know you two are so proud of them,
If it is grandkids, they'll see how their parents developed there work ethic as well.
You guys are actually kicking butt!! Keep pushing on. Always like the music and seeing all the animals!

Thank you so much!
Great Christmas gift to this family is SUBSCRIBE, they earned it ❤️
We comment partly because it helps your YT algorithm, but mostly because we like you guys and we admire what you are doing.
God bless you all.
So glad you are continuing mental health a part of this journey so others will see its importance!
It’s a great service to others for sure. BetterHelp has helped me a lot!

Ahh, good morning. Coffee and Tiny Shiny. Hope you're enjoying the great weather and Merry Christmas!
How do you keep your children motivated?
Merry Christmas to you all. I know all your dreams will come true ❤❤❤
💜😉I'm so glad you did your Q&A's because I get tired of the questions in the comments that you already answered.

This never gets old, you are building AND living life. Pacing yourselves is the most difficult thing to do. Enjoy the process and keep going!!!!!
Thanks! I love your industriosity and the way the kids all work so willingly. 👍🏻🤗
Thank you ❤️
You have accomplished SOOO much. Great things take time so don’t get discouraged and stay strong. Happy holidays guys ❤
if the forms are shifting get a hydrolic bottle jack and move them back to where they need to be then brace them. or thats how i would do it

Merry Christmas Tiny Shiny Homestead! Higher and Higher you go - but gosh 30 rows! Have a wonderful family day!

You guys this was a great Q and A. Thank you for taking the time to do it.👍🏾😀
You have such a wonderful family, that they help you 🥰. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family 🤗.
I’ve got a question. Just kidding. Keep up the great work ❤
Compared with other building techniques, yours is by far the most tidy. Well done.
I love your song selections .... so calming while watching you guys do your thing 🥰🥰🥰
yes, I wondered about that sideway pressure all those bags will have on the forms
We knew we'd need to brace them this way eventually. Makes it very difficult to get through the door frames so we waited as long as possible
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️

I used to manage the Tringle T guest ranch many many many years ago and there were so many rattle snakes that I cought and relocated close to the cabins and bar. So my question is when you moved there did you have a rattle snake problem and what about now? Have any of you pets been bitten by rattle snakes?
Part of living in the desert is snakes. We've seen and taken care of a few. Do training with our dogs so they avoid them.
MERRY Christmas it's awesome how far you've come
If the inner circle were roofed with some thing transparent it becomes another room.
The home will be spectacular and filled with love thank you!
I think is awesome that your children WANT to help you build your home! I love watching you build your house!
Yes, we already have a few of these planned this year for previous attendees 👍🏻
Merry Christmas to you all. Wow the house is definitely coming together. Love all the windows. ❤❤
Another great video! Cant wait for next workshop👍
Merry Christmas!!!😊🎉❤
Thanks for including the FAQ in this video. Here's another one you probably get asked a billion times. it's a 2 parter. A. How's your Cell phone reception out there? and B. When you finish your house, you'll be surrounded by 2 foot thick earth walls, a metal roof (and if you do stucco, a metal wire cage) Will your cell phones function inside your house?

ua-cam.com/video/s_p_dG9Zw9g/v-deo.html. We’ll be using this as a base and expanding it into the house design. Cell reception is actually pretty good, but we’ll be using the fiber for inside buildings.
Wow, great progress. Congratulations 🎉

Your home is looking amazing!, can't wait to see more😊
Hola👏 from New Mexico 🌶️...No way do I get tired of watching and I like the music also.
Good morning ☕️
We've made sushi but prefer to make it more special and go out somewhere it's really good.
Have you looked into getting some manner of dirt conveyor/elevator? There may even be someone on the channel that has one or someone that can build one. Seems like that would help so much when you start using scaffolding.
In general the main issue is any sort of conveyor has to constantly move with us as we fill the wall
Oops forget my question. Love watching the family work together.
I love it, we will be done when we get done, so stop asking! ♥ Also, I think you should answer why its round - Because we want it to be! Best wishes.
Merry Christmas y'all
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
