TOTALLY get not being a fan of the maximalism, but that's what draws me in so much tbh. It's like noise music but it's functional harmony, hah! Just love that overwhelming feeling. So glad you got to check this out, Max Tundra deserves SO much more credit and attention. In 2002 with the release of the song Lights, he *invented* hyperpop. In 2002. AG Cook did a remix of it and I don't doubt he was directly influenced by Tundra's music. He uses tracker software, and I think he was STILL using his Commodore Amiga for this album. Quick note: there's another Mateo on the ko-fi suggestions who is not me xD this is my only rq.

When I think of him I think a bit of jazzyness some prog ideas, popish, and a good dose of plain weird.

Yea man, I love that I can come to this channel for some good not-mainstream music. Love the prog and oddball stuff.

Oooh the middle section was super spacey psyche. Made me think of the best of Tame Impala, blood orange, helado negro. But stayed in the pocket for way longer than expected. And then some super strong Daft Punk meets Justice vibes with the end. Super good. The candy section is the only part I had enough of. For some reason the overall song makes me think its his autobiography. Happy/bright in childhood, spacey/moody in teens, and then assured/fun/complex as an adult.

I've always classed MT as electronic prog, influenced by the Canterbury scene.

The beginning reminds me a little of "Andy" by Frank Zappa.

So playful, joy of music in song. Im a sucker for the "early 90s sitcom theme" vibe too.

At the end of the song I could just see the “we’ll be right back!” in print over the ending screenshot. Or the character giving the camera a thumbs up or something.

I had an AI take a crack at interpreting the lyrics:
"Did you ever see The Holy Mountain On Ice?"
This line could be referencing Alejandro Jodorowsky's avant-garde film "The Holy Mountain," known for its surreal and symbolic imagery.
**"Thirty tons of frogs and blood cascading like dice"**
This imagery is vivid and chaotic, possibly symbolizing randomness and the messiness of life. Frogs can represent transformation or the unexpected in many cultures, while blood often signifies life or sacrifice.
**"The decoration painting / Was inhibited by fainting / And the clean-up operation wasn't nice"**
These lines suggest a scene of disruption, where artistic creation is interrupted by physical or emotional overwhelm, leading to an unpleasant aftermath.
**"So you did some work for me and you didn't get paid?"**
This seems to address exploitation or unreciprocated effort in a relationship or transaction, hinting at feelings of being used or undervalued.
**"While Mr. Mendes kisses Kate / I, in my kitchen, break a plate / And sweep it up and dream of getting laid"**
Here, there's a contrast between the glamorous life of celebrities (possibly referring to director Sam Mendes and actress Kate Winslet) and the mundane, frustrated existence of the speaker.
**"I don't know if you got my letter / But everyone thinks you're great / If you come home it will be much better / And I will be your mate until we die"**
These lines express longing and the desire for reconciliation, suggesting a strained relationship where the speaker holds out hope for a return and a lifelong commitment.
**"If you try to do the cube and it doesn't work out / Don't peel the stickers off or move the pieces about"**
The "cube" could be a metaphor for a complex problem or challenge in life. The advice against cheating or taking shortcuts suggests a value for integrity and perseverance.
**"Just send it in to this address / My underlings will do the rest / Unless you fill the envelope with doubt"**
This could imply that help is available, but success is contingent on the sender's belief or trust in the process.
**"As a child I used to be obsessed with Pale Saints"**
Pale Saints were a British alternative rock band, indicating the speaker's nostalgic connection to their music and perhaps a simpler time in life.
**"In a shop of art supplies among the sale paints / I thought this girl was Meriel / And I asked if she'd sing at my burial"**
This anecdote reflects a moment of mistaken identity and a youthful, morbid request, highlighting the speaker's past innocence and preoccupation with mortality.
**"That isn't me," she said with some restraint"**
The girl's response shows a polite but firm correction, possibly symbolizing the speaker's realization of their own misconceptions or the disappointment of unmet expectations.
Overall, the lyrics weave together themes of disillusionment, longing, and the search for authenticity amidst life's chaos and confusion. They paint a picture of a person grappling with the disparity between their inner world and external reality, seeking connection and meaning in a seemingly indifferent universe. The recurring motif of letters and communication suggests a deep need for understanding and closure.
