- After a long hiatus, the big homie Black Cat is back. I've wanted to react and interpret to "A Pale Tortured Blue" for ages. Heike's vocals shine and bring an additional depth to a song that will have you all up in your feels.

omg i love your interpretation, when i first listen to the song with the lyrics i thought about it in a more pessimistic way, with a pretty tragic turn, i though it being about suicide or at least a attempt of, because she said she "fail to realize" and then she has no peace she say "when there's peace within myself" she's longing for peace, and the pale torture blue "blistering" through in the end as the final moment when the cold blue flame burns out the body and the soul is released in some way, also because the next two songs, Stellar Tombs and No lonelier star are really cosmic horror out of the body experiences with a lot of reflexive thoughts and understandings along the journey

Isn't it amazing how the same song can elicit different reactions from others? I love seeking meaning in music. After all, isn't life's journey all about finding our own meaning? I read A Pale Tortured Blue as a melancholy redemption song. Now the straight up suicide track on Sovran is Rivers Between Us. I'm not a huge fan of Daniel's clean vocals, but the word play and contrast on that one paints a haunting picture of a lover mourning.
One of the best music reviews on youtube to date. I'm dead serious.

Thank you for this great video, this song deserved an analysis of this caliber. I'm happy to read in the comments that you're planning more Draconian reactions. I hope you'll do at least one more on Sovran, I feel like it's their hardest to decipher.
I'm happy with the interruptions here because you fill them with quality. If I'm going to listen to a reaction rather than the normal track then the reaction has to have some value - which can be feeling or interpretation. Keep it up
Dude, you get it. Reaction vids can be so much more than just one or two insightful interjections on top of talking commentary of how good or bad a song is. I like to interpret artists that challenge me to continually learn and grow. If a song or a band touches me like that, I'm going to show that love back by offering my insights. I hope you stick around for the journey as we continue to grow here.

Another great analysis. I would really love to see you react to 'A Return to the Earth Below' by Oceans of Slumber. Nobody ever seems to react to them. They put out a new album a few months ago (self titled) and it's ridiculously good. I think they're a super important band to be watching right now. I almost hope you haven't heard them before so I can see you listen to them for the first time. lol
