Master the Anchor Hitch

- The Anchor Hitch is a super secure knot which tightens on itself when load is applied. It is really simple to tie, all you need is two round turns. One over the top of the item you are securing your fender to and the second one on top of the first.
The Anchor hitch will become really tight making it hard to undo after load has been applied, making it a great option if you want to lock your rope tight against a fixed object.
The team at bottom up boats has lots of addition hitches to fix your rope to a fixed object you can check out several of this in our Fender Knot Playlist.

The team at bottom up boats hope you enjoyed our latest video demonstration where we teach you how to tie the Anchor hitch.
Was taught this at Scouts when I was around 12 and have never forgotten it👌🏻⛏️🏴
Learning life skills at a young age is a great legacy that both the scouts and guides should be proud of 👍
This is one that i might have a chance at remembering?
Thank you!
Glad you liked it.
I am sure you watch it on loop for 10 minutes you will have mastered it 🫶
Great demo, thanks man
No problem, glad you like it and thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback !!!
I always use the bowline when I tying my line to the anchor but I guess that's the more appropriate knot
The bowline has a breaking load of 65 to 75% of the strength of the rope.
The Anchor hitch when tested is around 10% stronger.
@@BottomUPBoats I can see why, it distributes the load over more surface area.
@@tetedepoulet8651 and there are less hard turns which create weak point under load.
Cool
Thanks for stopping by, glad you like the quick demo !!!
Nice! So you go through the loops twice?
100%
Can this be used as a termination not to connect to a lifeline on a carabiner for climbing?
As a sailing channel I must admit I have not researched the best knot for the use case you described.
It will lock tight and hold strong, with that said I would check I. To see what the climbers recommend and go with that before to start hanging from a great height with it 👍
I believe climbers commonly use a scaffold knot, or a poachers knot in some situations
@@gregoryv8026 thanks for giving us the climber’s perspective
Apa Didalam tali itu ada kawatnya
TIDAK
@@BottomUPBoats milik saya ada kawatnya
Bowline always
Why do you prefer the bowline ?
