When did the definition of research become, "reading posts on social media."?
It has been that way since religion was invented.
Shortly after everyone lost faith in mainstream media.
As soon as 'conspiracy nut' became the default position of so many clueless people on the internet. It's real easy to use words like 'research' to trick the stupid when making shit up out of thin air has become the default of a good chunk of American politics and media coverage.

Pretty telling how when right-wing conspiratorial types say "we need to do something about these people" it implies violence but when Cody says "we need to do something about these people" he means reach out to them and provide them with social support so they don't do anything dumb
Hmm..that brings up an Interesting predicament.. I'd say there's 7 years of _good luck_ to whoever can shatter THAT particular 2 way mirror...
I don't know if that's a dig at Cody or a legit observation, so I'm going to engage with it as though it's the former. Generally when conspiratorial types say "we need to do something about these people" it's surrounded by words like criminals, rapists, and invaders, but when Cody says it, it's surrounded by words like vulnerable and being preyed on by.
I think you misunderstood his comment
The same applies to crime and inequality. Its one of the fundamental differences of the right and the left
@@Pluveus yeah he is talking about helping those vulnrable prayed on people from doing "something about" the ones they call criminals and rapists.
It’s so depressing as someone who’s had trouble in the past falling into the alt-right pipeline to see people going through the comments defending the alt-right and attacking the left to their dying breath. It’s really disheartening to see just how people still believe some of this crap just to try and avoid feeling guilty for believing something wrong. It’s ok to change and become a better person, this isn’t even about right or left it’s just a matter of what’s true and false
As one human being to another, I want to say, thank you for opening your mind. It's very easy for someone on either side to say "those others are the enemy and always will be", but the best possible outcome, I think, is to offer them amnesty and compassion if they can overcome pride and accept the possibility of their opponents having a point. I myself find this difficult to actually apply a lot of the time - but it's worthwhile, I think, to try; so again, well done! =)
How did you change your mind? My mother has fallen deep into alt right and whole heartedly has beloved Q for three years. My dad, brother and I have tried with her on many accounts.
as a serial comment reader i feel this
Carq it kinda took a few personal experiences, getting sexually assaulted and coming to terms with my sexuality overall and finding that irreconcilable with beliefs I had previously believed true and rational. I never saw myself as an intolerant person, I never believed I was homophobic or transphobic, but realising the kind of people who might agree with me on how feminism is bad might also think I’m a deviant who should be exterminated helped me come to the understanding of alt-right politics as toxic and manipulative, and led to me becoming gradually more left wing
I started to fall into it when I was younger too, even being half Jewish and half Welsh! Oddly enough for me Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey's core value of "be excellent to each other" and how that lead to making all sorts of friends who helped them in their journeys, plus the character growth of Death in the second movie who goes from essentially the kind of person the alt-right looks to indoctrinate to a radical dude fighting against the manipulative powers of evil through the power of love and rock and roll, through a series of boardgames he's forced to play with Bill and Ted in order to claim their souls. I saw parallels to my own experience with people who I was told I shouldn't like, but because we went to the same school I could help but hang out with and grow to like. Eventually you'll start to see that all the alt-right preaches is hate, blame and being unforgiving, whereas the left preaches love, compassion, forgiveness. That you're not being a hypocrite for changing your views and opinions, you're growing as a person, you have opinions at 10 years old that you don't have at 15, 20, 25, every couple of years you realise that maybe you should put the views you hold into question see if they still stand up to modern science, psychology, or what ever. It's like you have nails and wood, but no hammer just a rock, then your friend tells you about hammers, hammers are way better at hammering than rocks so you switch to hammers, you might be embarrassed or feel shame, but that's okay they're called growing pains. Sorry if this isn't helpful, but it's a hard thing to pin point because it's a little different for everyone, stemming from parental and personal beliefs, upbringing, personal and second-hand experiences, but it's always rooted in fear, of not being good enough, maybe they or someone they know were assaulted, maybe they were brought up being told that gays are evil and go to hell, and repress their own feelings and hate themselves. Fear, trauma, self-hate that isn't dealt with in an open and loving way (patient understanding parents and peers etc.) festers into hate as you either chose to blame yourself and/or others, this can manifest as depression, but if you're found by someone looking to indoctrinate, they know exactly what to say, because they are deep down that hurt scared kid, they didn't let anyone look at the cut on their leg and now it really hurts and they blame others for the pain, but there are always steps you can take towards healing. Often extended breaks, like no electronics camping for a week with the family, can break up the rhetoric that they're blasting themselves with and it starts to fall apart if you don't hear it all the time, you see the inconsistencies and contradictions

I always thought Qanon was for the crazies... but now I realize there are more people who believe in Qanon than I can be comfortable with. Are WE the crazies? ... Nah.
Qanon makes a good case in clinical psychology asking the questions "how far people will go to not admitting that they were wrong," and the age old "taking every information as gospel from an authority figure."

Yes, the way the 9/11, OKC and the Warren Commission all made perfect sense... Read a history book my well-informed friend. Allen Dulles was responsible for murdering tens of thousands of innocent civilians throughout his career, not for democracy, but for profit and power (that’s history, it’s not debatable, at least yet) but a president that took that power away and many thought was a commie-lover - that’s just absurd!
Of course, it’s pointless to talk about Kennedy because even if we gained a critical mass in the US, fundamentally no one cares because people are so brainwashed that they think 55 years ago is ancient history and has little relation to the present day. Bye now.
@@przybyla420 and does any of that justify the bullshit lies made up by Q?
Also a case study in the simple fact that people are very good at finding and interpreting points of data in such a way that their existing beliefs and suspicions are confirmed and fortified. We all do it to some extent, I'm pretty sure, but the biggest problem is probably people who don't even know that they're doing it, or just how much they're doing it...
"Confirmation Bias", I think is the term?
When I'm watching a video like this I always try to anticipate the counterarguments, and it's genuinely frightening how easy it is to do that once you allow for the possibility of 7D chess. You can justify anything! Sure he's slashing funds for trafficking prevention, but I bet it's because he's secretly catching so many sex traffickers.
Once you're stuck in that mindset, it must take such a crowbar to get you out of it.
That's one reason intelligent people can believe ridiculous things, intelligence can be used to justify bunk.
Cody, from the bottom of my heart: Thank you and all who help you. I have no idea how you can continue to do this. You hearts must get so corroded from trying to understand and explain all of this. This is quality. I would have broken long, long ago. But that's where I thank you: for doing what I am not doing; for doing what is important and good.
I agree. I would have the strength to do what he does.

To be honest, the whole Epstein thing makes me depersonalise so much. The world feels way more like a dystopian novel than any book, game or movie ever could.
I think a lot of people feel that way? just judging from the kind of tweets even high profile people put up at the time. I know I feel that way at least 😔

That's because bad news brings more clicks, and the worse the better. Plus now you can get all of the bad news from all around the world, instead of just the locals and few big ones, like before social media. But in reality the world is getting better, and despite the huge problems we are facing now, there's real hope and there's a good chance the future will be awesome.
You do know there are still open slave market and people get their heads cut off for sorcery, right? These are relatively first-world problems by comparison. In Afghanistan US troops must protect the child sex slave traffickers as they are the warlords we are allied with and it is an old tradition. They are called "dancing boys." It's sick. US troops have gotten in a lot of trouble for complaining.
