Your cinemaphotography is amazing! A true all weather sailor as well. You sir have are awesome! Keep it up and I look forward to you fishing your north sea loop!
That's awesome Erik!!! Another upgrade to all the technical upgrades you already have. Your boat is becoming a floating high tech research vessel. I can see a lot of use for the Fifish in cold water. Your Arial drone shots are amazing. I can't wait to see the video productions you can make with the Fifish. Fair winds and following seas on the journey to Greenland.
What a cool piece of gear! I had no idea personal underwater robots had come so far. I may need one of these to get a look at how my anchor is sitting.
That is pretty awesome. Looks like something Black Manta would have. Good to check your boat, dock, etc and have it on video could help with insurance etc. Nate
What an amazing piece of equipment for checking what you've dropped your hook onto Can also see it giving a different perspective of the environment that you're in cos no one really knows much about what goes on below the surface of the water Thank you very much for sharing
very cool ROV as well as being super handy, it would also be great for those dull days when not much is happening. i wonder if they make a drill attachment, everyone has 'that 1 guy 3 berths down' 🤔😉🤣
He was moored, in pond calm water. What could you even use it for while sailing "out at sea" ? Always thinking negatively, you need counseling. I'd imagine losing it while using it out at sea, not falling off the boat.
@@mboyer68 I have the upmost respect for what Erik does. He is inspirational. But my reply was tongue in cheek and was not meant negatively. But, even with still waters, having your eyes covered whilst onboard a boat is probably increasing the chances of an accident quite significantly. At least sit down. 😂
I thought the same thing. It's NOT disrespectful at all. Erik is a legend who KNOWS his stuff. I thought the same thing because I know FOR MYSELF, when I wear a VR on SOLID ground... the family knows to "back away." That's on ME. Erik obviously is 1000% in control. I understand what you meant.
Nice, i have the Chasing Dory its a fun toy to go exploring and check the bottom and propellers, unfortunately it havent a claw to picking up things, onboard i also have a Hookah diving system If i have to go down fixing something.
@@j121212100 I suspect you would have to use two underwater drones, one to metal detect, then another with a strainer of some sort. Unless they can figure out a way to incorporate a metal detector and a strainer on the same drone. Like maybe they can do something similar to a backhoe loader, have a metal detector in front, once you find something, spin around with the strainer in front and shovel it up.
I can see the value of such kit in professional settings, including film-makers which Erik certainly now is. I'm sure he'll use it to bring the same sort of incredible pictures that he gets from the aerial drone and I look forward very much to the results. However, to the average cruising sailor - even if room could be found to store the huge box - EUR3,500 is ridiculous. I'll stick with my dive kit that lets me actually do something down below, and if I need an ROV there are plenty of decent ones on the market for much less. That said, I recognise that Erik is sponsored to show products like this and very much appreciate that he doesn't fill his main videos with too much product placement. He's carved out a seriously interesting niche and I hope he can manage to keep focussed.
I’m glad to see first officer Tiger still assisting you and, also, you looking well! How cool is this robot?! I suppose you’ll need a lot of practice with it before you’re an expert, so now you have a reason to go sailing more other than to chase storms. (As if you need a reason to go. 😋🤴🏼) Great job with the product, QYSEA Fifish. 🔱🍺❤
Great tool and quite useful I would say. Any thoughts how this high frequency sounds produced by motors effect underwater life? Is there any influence at all?
"And it slides in there like cassette". Audience under 30: Ok, I get that you slide your cellphone into your VR goggles to act as a display, but what in the name of all that is holy is a cassette? But with jokes aside, it's riveting to see technology like this proliferating. There are so many uses beyond just inspecting boats and picking up trash. With 100m depth limit, I can only imagine what this would be for wreck inspections, marine archeology, marine safety inspection, etc...
I want one. Cost is much less that what I thought. Be cool to take this drone to the Nord stream pipeline explosions to see if the metal is pushed in or pushed out.
Cool stuff Erik. I'm just curious... How much such cool ROV costs? Looking forward to watch the next episode of the Greenland adventure... Cheers from Sweden
Terminology: If it flys (normally wireless) it’s a drone. If it swims (normally with an umbilical cable) it’s an ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle). ROV has been the standard terminology in industry for 70+ years. I know because I have piloted many professionally. PS, Eric I love your channel, your spirit, and courage. Perhaps the above comment is an issue of language and in Norwegian the terms are synonymous. In the US, people who start out using drones often refer to ROV’s as “underwater drones” because that is their point of reference and they just don’t know the preexisting terminology. A technology creates its own terminology. 😎
Very, very interesting, Erik. Yes, boathooks float. I'm not worried about you, you're a very good sailor....but that anchor was not set. Perhaps just lying on the bottom to make good footage? Anyway, thanks as always for the beautiful videos.
Head Back Home? I thought you are in the way to Greenland.... Maybe you took that footage before start your sail. Great Video, I want one of these... Really
Fantastic video, Erik! 🤩Thx for the detailed testing and sharing!🥰💯
Love how much editing goes into your videos! The camera work is so nice to watch. Keep it up man!
We must see more of underwater drone clips!, I could watch that for hours!
Really appreciate the 4K upload! It really looks great.
Very cool and handy device. Glad you are feeling better and looking forward to your up coming videos.

Very Interesting and informative. Thank you Eric for sharing this update.!
Another super cool camera angle for your vids! Good job, professional quality, as always.
Awesome video! Glad to see you're using a Mantis anchor. It's the best I've ever used!
Thats an amazing piece of kit. I love these type of videos as well
Amazing , useful onboard and effective. Thx for the sharing🙏
That is pretty awesome. Looks like something Black Manta would have. Good to check your boat, dock, etc and have it on video could help with insurance etc.

That drone is pretty awesome!
What a fantastic piece of kit. I'm currently designing my own with multiple cameras.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing this tech, and wonderfully presented. They look like a lot of fun and very useful too!

I wonder if the "Claw" would be great for catching Lobsta. all you need is budda. Great work what a treat hope you feeling better. Carry-on
Love it! Very functional
Great video, very hip underwater drone. Thank you.

very cool ROV

Thank you very much, Eric, for the video. It is a very useful toy to have on board. Glad you showed us the test.
That’s really fun. As a dude who is alone on the boat for most of your trips, an extra underwater hand seems really useful.
I've got one of these for my sailing adventure, with robot arm as well. So great
This looks so cool!!!
Incredible hardware!
Thanks! What a cool tool
Using VR style goggles whilst standing on a boat out at sea....what could possibly go wrong.😂
VR and sea sickness? I’m guessing it’s pronounced “queasy “. 😏

@@mboyer68you read one light-hearted comment someone makes on youtube, and recommend them therapy. You're an odd fellow aren't you?
Tat UWV looks great.. Anchor checking for sure.
Great video Erik! And that is a awsome little underwater drone! Very handy for anyone with a Boat ( sail or motor ).
Super Cool!

Just great to watch your progress, good Health to you! Sail on!
Nice toy !!!! I know now what I have to write on my bucket list for Father Christmas !!😄😄💪
QYSEA also has sonar and metal detector for the V6 Expert, QYSEA is doing some really innovative add-ons for their underwater drones! Great video 👍
I just thought about adding a metal detector to do gold coin prospecting.

Amazing "toy". Take care Skipper, all the best!
Amazing and very useful drone.

Wow, what a great device! I bet it cost a bundle! How much are they asking for the underwater drone?
Wow, it will be interesting how the electrics/electronics hold up in salt water.
OMG! 😃 👍
Great presentation, looks to be a great product
At the beginning you promised no ball*hit sailing......... Every video is now full of it!

No sailing, just BS 🙂. Pretty cool underwater drone.
Great potential but having read the reviews on Amazon it seems it has a lot of problems and may not be worth buying just yet.
Hope a lonely turtle doesn't come along😊
