With almost the same characteristics, the An-70 takes 10 tons more than the A-400 - 47 tons instead of 37 tons for the A-400, and all thanks to the latest coaxial screws of the D-27 propfan engine even today. I don’t know how, but apparently millions were spent so that the An-70 would not go into production, and instead of it the unfinished A-400 came out ...
Very cool and very nice indeed. Its not everyday we get to see such a beautiful military aircraft. Indeed an ultra rare treat from Mr ET. Great job Mr ET. Loving it so much.
Great video, only just come across it, beautifully filmed. I watched it with a bit of pride as I was on the A400M wing design team in the UK in the early 2000s. The 'Down Between Engines' prop rotation still fascinates me.

Canada almost bought them, we need transport aircraft for Afghanistan and looked at the A400M Atlas, but it was a couple of years behind schedule and gained weight as it went cutting back on the carego capacity, so the RCAF bought the C-17 instead. That's how we got the CC-117 GlobeMaster III. Canada didn't invest any money in the A400M, so we didn't lose anything. The French Air Force has them too, but made an arrangement to use our CC-117 to airlift supplies to the mission in Mali.

My first three plane rides were in a C-130. The first one was from MCB Camp Pendleton to MCB 29 Palms. It was a short ride but I loved it. The entire time I was glued to the porthole because it was a big thrill for this 19 YO Marine. My 2nd plane ride was in a 130 again from Okinawa to Wake Island to MCAS in Oahu, with the final leg to El Toro. Finally, I rode from Chu Lai in 'Nam to MCB in Japan (I can't remember the name). From there I rode in a C-141 to El Toro. Since I was going on emergency leave all seats were booked. I straddled my sea bag the 15 hours it took to get home.
Beautiful plane, great video. Loved the timing of the props with the video to see how all four engines turn opposite one-another. All flight is amazing. No wonder people always ask. "How does something so big just do that????" Reminded me of our C-130 and 131. RAF Thanks.

Just putting it out there. Funny how one still has to give the windows a wipe down the old fashioned way lol. Nice vid looked real sharp. like it. cheers.
These A400 can land on any dirt strip runaway as there is no danger of anything being sucked into the engine unlike conventional jet engines transporters.

Thank you for an absolutely top-class video. And props (ha!) to Airbus for making a C130 on steroids: The 400 just oozes "Piss off, I'm coming through". (I think it's the eagle-like wing placement. Even Globemasters don't look like they are about to punch you)
