  • Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World was nominated in the Best International Feature and Best Original Screenplay categories at the 94th Academy Awards. Director and co-writer Joachim Trier tells Gayle Sequeira why he couldn’t have made the film if he hadn’t become more optimistic about love, how he tried to avoid cliché with its sex scenes and why art should be allowed to be messy and provocative.

This is the best interview I have seen from film companion in a long time probably after the one with Celine Sciamma (it was short, but great) back in February i think..
Great questions from Gayle going indepth to the story, their approach and how personal emotions may impact the writing of a scene at a point of time and even the small details.. Not just the questions like he said the observation part itself is just brilliant. Looking forward for more such interviews. Keep up with the awesome work❤️❤️

This is a stellar interview! The pacing, quality of the questions, and chemistry between Gayle & Joachim is fantastic! Loved the question at 8:10 about the scene of time stopping and hearing Joachims thorough response about not only the intent behind the scene but also the choreography & consideration of all the other actors.

Great questions. I think she was reading out those question, if questions were asked more like in a conversation, it would have been much more interactive and lively. otherwise, great content. ✌🏾🥰
