My brother died by suicide in February. We used to play Road Rash on Sega then on PS1 for days. I remember Soundgarden's Rusty Cage vividly. I'm playing it again on emulators in their memory.
Dr Jones , Sorry for your loss. Sounds like a kickass bro if yall bonded over games. Me and my brother played this till are thumbs hurt when we were kids! Takes us back to better days.
+Stefan Humbleton omg i was thinking the same when i used to play the game back then hahahahahahahaha i was like this game looks soooo real i can't believe what i was seeing back in them old days look at them pixels and i was believing that was close to the real life lol
@@DoubleMonoLRactually nah it kinda is tbh, even the combat is a bit different here. Road rash games on the Genesis always had a very clunky feel to it and a lack of serious feeling of speed even when you upgrade to the best bike and all the modifications in those ports. Also combat wasn’t as good because every time you tried to hit someone on the Genesis ports chances are you wouldn’t land a hit because your bike would just shove them out the way instead making combat not as smooth or fun as it should be Road Rash 32bit fixes all of those problems and takes away the whole countryside vibe and gives us an extremely badass mid 90s grunge/alt rock vibe instead. In my opinion, quite a bit of differences for the better and just shits all over the Genesis games
This was my introduction to Soundgarden. I was born in 89 and my parents didn't listen to any grunge besides my mom liking Pearl Jam. Everything else was dismissed as an Eddie Vedder rip off.
I had so much fun playing this game back in the days, but it used to scare the shit out of me at the same time, that punky-outlaw feeling and those cinematics gave Road Rush such a unique and great atmosphere.
OMG that intro brings me right back.. Epic times.. I turn and look at my PS4 and think will it ever bring me the joys of the old days.. It will in about 10 years when I look back at it lol
I'm having withdrawal nearly 20 years on..man was this a great game! The game play, upgrades, comical cutscenes, and even a screensaver of awesome real footage of bikes. What the hell happened to you EA?
Not anymore. Sony and Microsoft seem to think multiplayer is exclusively other consoles. They don't do split screen anymore, and that would take most of the fun out of it.
If you were anything like me you never saw that cut scene at 7:55, you always got the one of being handcuffed to the police bike, and being dragged along behind it :(
One of the most awesome games ever made. They should do a remake or a remastered version with the same elements that made this game great. Just saying.
This game is still as entrancing as it was 30 years ago, and the level of detail that went into the artwork for both the characters and the environments is insane. Video games today just don't have the soul that the old ones did.
About 10 years ago I went to every pawnshop in town, finally the last one I found this game. I had given mine to a little boy in a wheelchair. I was so happy to get another copy. I still have to this day.👍👍👍
An old EA game that was awesome was future cop LA PD and you drove this robot that was kinda like an ED209 but also turned into a hovercar plus it was stacked with missiles and machine guns.
I used to play this every time I went to my cousins house back in the day. It was my favorite game. The cut scenes were great, especially if you get busted and the cop drags you behind his motorcycle. I had forgotten what it was called and spent a good portion of the last 10 years trying to remember so I could buy it. I’ve finally found you, you beautiful son of a bitch.
I’m 31 years old and probably haven’t played or seen this game since I was 7…but watching this makes it feel like it was only yesterday, it’s crazy! How time flies
used to play this all the time as a kid when i was at my dad's house. just randomly thought of the game today and had to check it out, nice upload man!
this game is a masterpiece, me and my cousin would play this game for hours. my favorite thing to do was taking the other racers bikes, sometimes you'll get lucky and get a fast bike
my dad used to play this when I was in preschool and I'd watch him. it looked fun and watching this brings back some memories! I wish we still had our ps1..
Man I spent a lot of hours on this back then. I remember I was expressly forbidden by my parents to use the chain to hit the other motorcyclists, or watch that intro video because it was violent. Fast forward a decade or so, and my little brother is tearing apart the innocent in God of War. Oh the joys of beeing the practice child -.-
OldsXCool Hehe, maybe my brother and I should both play it to see if we react differently? I'm gonna guess no even though it'd sad to imagine I had a Tekken-less childhood for nothing :S
DahBjorn i used to pretend i was going to my uncles and say hi to him in the taxi.. and if not, to me, this was a real world to itself, even the car drivers to me, always had a life inborn and designed into the game, even the sheeps or cows in countrysides
This game is special to me because it was actually the very first PS1 game I ever played! I remember getting amazed by the fact that the game was on a CD and the film based intro just blew my mind!!! Jumping from 16bit to 32bit technology was something surreal, going from cartoon based games to 3D rendering was a milestone and I'll never forget that feeling!!
My brother owns a 3DO and I have seen them both on a big screen. While the PS1 version took a very slight graphical hit in the porting process, the game actually runs much faster and smoother. You notice the frame hiccups more because it's smoother than the 3DO. Also the 3DO version has just as much draw in but it's less noticeable due to the 3DO fading in the scenery vs. the PS1 simply popping in. About being less saturated, that is just the PS1's overall output due to it's higher contrast.
man this brings back memories. From a time when EA was Electronic Arts, Soundgarden was topping the music charts and when you bought a game you actually got the whole fucking game. no homo, no DLC.
What a game. I got reminded of this game as Soundgarden rusty cage song was playing randomly on my prime music. 1st playstation game I played. I was blown away by the graphics back then!
I don't care for racing games much but man did I play Road Rash for hours. Back when I had the Sega Channel, I would play Road Rash 3 all freaking day. It was addicting. I also remember playing Road Rash for the Sega Saturn followed by the one for the PS 1. Great memories.
That opening guitar music kicking in right after the opening PS logo🔥 spent so much time playing it and fell off the bike on purpose to walk the street on foot
Watching this in 2021, i'm 29 now, how nostalgic is this! I remember that before the first GTA or driver 2, the thing that i loved was to explore the game scenários searching for the limits or some easteregg! what a great feeling!
I used to love playing this game on PS1 when I was a kid!! I’m 33 now and googled the game cuz I kinda remembered it and landed on this video. Fucking awesome!! Def relived some memories just watching this
I remember it took me like a months to get the best "Rat Bike" in the game. being in elementary school, i sucked at video games, but this thing had me glued to the tv.
I was obsessed with this on PSX back in the day. My parents wouldn’t buy it, so I just kept renting it whenever I could at various points throughout the year. I remember loving the Soundgarden songs and feeling of violence.
You guys remember when talking about "FMV" was cutting edge? My mind was blown by the real footage and music in this game, it's still one of the best videogame soundtracks of all time.
When I turned 10 my parents gave me a Playstation 1, later that day my grandma visited and gave me a bunch of PS1 games including this one. I doubt my grandma knew what kind of game she gave me, what a sweet lady she was.
This game was a pleasure to play on slit screens. We often settled our sibling battles by unplugging the other players controller when it become physical.
I had to come search road rash on ps1 just to make sure i was not dreaming back then. Thank god it was real. Great time to be that young and just playing one hell of a game. 😢
I still have this game :D Been a while since I played...a while being since the ps1 was the current console. Man I had fun on that game but the art scared me as a kid :P
Jesus wept. Such awesome memories! I managed to get my hands on a Japanese PS1 before they even touched Europe and it was insane. I owned Master Systems and Snes' but when I got this I was almost sick. Such a great machine, and such a great game!
The memories!!! Ill never forget that awesome feeling of kicking an opponent into an oncoming car!
wait what the hell? Go play some Siege lmao
My fav. is mike 😁
What a weird coincidence this is lol
Same here man
My favorite memory apart for this one was to drive over the walking pedestrians
man we had it good in the 90s.
That is an understatement.
man we had it REALLY good in the 90s? better? lol
Remember the good times... Much better :D
OldsXCool haha, merry xmas dude :D
Remember the good times... and merry Christmas to you too :)
I lost mine 10 years ago. It's really tough, but the good memories stay forever. I feel like all bros loved racing games haha.
I'm so sorry to hear that. It somehow feels like our generation of the 80s-90s is lost and nostalgic, I hope we find our way.
R.I.P
So sorry :( Hold onto those memories and he'll always be with you.
Back then everyone was like "the graphics look so real" lmao.
LMAO my stomach LMAO !!! they sure did say that shit LOL " Look at how realistic the graphics are " !!!! LMAO
***** lol same here ps1 were latest
***** it wuz real during that PRE HISTORIC TIMES ;) har har har :P
I guess you're right, today's game are boring for the most part lol
+Stefan Humbleton omg i was thinking the same when i used to play the game back then hahahahahahahaha i was like this game looks soooo real
i can't believe what i was seeing back in them old days look at them pixels and i was believing that was close to the real life lol
Pure nostalgia. And this is one of the greatest games made for PS1.
What’s crazy is first time I played it was on a 3do .. the system made by Panasonic lol
It's not that much different to the game on Mega Drive/Genesis, aside from the awesome CD soundtrack.
Also one of the very first PS1 games
@@DoubleMonoLRactually nah it kinda is tbh, even the combat is a bit different here. Can we just appreciate how amazing this intro is with Soundgarden!
What’s the song name.

That EPIC startup Sony sound.... " Beeooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.... buuurrrmmmmmmmmmmm *twinkle twinkle*" Damn nobody has made a better sound!
No truer words have ever been spoken ;)
The into gave me goosebumps and reminded me of my childhood lol
you're not the only one
Jesus. lol. That PS1 opening. Brings back memories.
Still having good nostalgia memories of playing this in the late 90's with my buddy on his big screen TV in 2022......
Damn I'm old.....*cries*
watched the full video, because I miss my childhood
I had so much fun playing this game back in the days, but it used to scare the shit out of me at the same time, that punky-outlaw feeling and those cinematics gave Road Rush such a unique and great atmosphere.
OMG that intro brings me right back.. Epic times.. I turn and look at my PS4 and think will it ever bring me the joys of the old days.. It will in about 10 years when I look back at it lol
damn that intro was sexy now i dont regret spending the majority of my childhood playing video games
i remember 90s playstation intros had the best and imho the most realest intros out there. they were so good it just added to the experience xD
That intro is sexy as fuck mang
I'm having withdrawal nearly 20 years on..man was this a great game! The game play, upgrades, comical cutscenes, and even a screensaver of awesome real footage of bikes. What the hell happened to you EA?
God I love this game! Hits me right in the nostalgia bone, man.
I have that same bone!
This could really need a remake for ps4 and pc. I mean the concept is brilliant and then add multiplayer.
ua-cam.com/video/j-ZYwbJtQ9g/v-deo.html
Not anymore. Sony and Microsoft seem to think multiplayer is exclusively other consoles. They don't do split screen anymore, and that would take most of the fun out of it.
FlashGordon yes most deffenly
the xbox has cross platform multiplayer games, there is still the problem with sony however
check out Road Redemption
If you were anything like me you never saw that cut scene at 7:55, you always got the one of being handcuffed to the police bike, and being dragged along behind it :(
Hands down one of the most kickass intros to anything in the history of ever
I think this is the first Playstation game I ever played. I was blown away by this console and all it could do.
Man, the lack of live action in video games these days is sad.
One of the most awesome games ever made. They should do a remake or a remastered version with the same elements that made this game great. Just saying.
they need to remake this game, i can only imagine the graphics and rag doll physics it'll have.
nah, this road rash is still better than road redemption
nahh those 2d sprite animation makes it more funny and quirky unlike its 3D counterparts..
Its EA you need to play a dollar via microstransactions if you want to get back on your bike.
Road redemption ( steam)
This game is still as entrancing as it was 30 years ago, and the level of detail that went into the artwork for both the characters and the environments is insane. Video games today just don't have the soul that the old ones did.

THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD OMFG
Man, the memories :( time passed so quickly. This game was fucking epic, good old times....
Fantasic game, the hours i spent on this. What brilliant memories, the graphics are hilarious but amazing back in the day.
cant believe EA made this game
It's not hard to believe if you were gaming back when Electronic Arts was awesome. They are nothing like they used to be now.
OldsXCool i thought the only good gaming series they had was the nfs series till most wanted 2005 clearly i am wrong
EA died after 2011
Dead space is fucken sick!!!
An old EA game that was awesome was future cop LA PD and you drove this robot that was kinda like an ED209 but also turned into a hovercar plus it was stacked with missiles and machine guns.
A game with Soundgarden's soundtrack could not be forgotten
9:19, that kick had some disrespect to it and I love it.
3:23 You cannot comprehend how many fucking times that used to happen to me when I first got the game.
so much memories man...
Yeahhhh
this game brings back so much memories i remember telling my cousin theres no way graphics can get any better than this
Awesome game. To complete the last level needed concentration. Good old days
I used to play this every time I went to my cousins house back in the day. It was my favorite game. What a great game it was, simple and fun.

One of the first games I played on Playstation 1. It was just so fun!
This was a really well tuned game. Reaction time and quick reflexes worked like they were supposed to.
remember jet moto? That game was badass!
Dude, this is still a fantastic game. None of the new shit they release will ever be like the old school games! I want my childhood back, NOW!
this game is a masterpiece, me and my cousin would play this game for hours. my favorite thing to do was taking the other racers bikes, sometimes you'll get lucky and get a fast bike

The low rider guy that had the metal pipe was the best to me lol. I remember running racers over running back to their bike 😂😂
Such a great game. Rewarded the perfect blend of precision & speed.
Awesome soundtrack, too!

You guys remember when talking about "FMV" was cutting edge? My mind was blown by the real footage and music in this game, it's still one of the best videogame soundtracks of all time.
I miss this game a lot...
26 years ago I had this game I'm in my 30s now I was 10 years old still remember this thanks for sharing 😎✊
When I turned 10 my parents gave me a Playstation 1, later that day my grandma visited and gave me a bunch of PS1 games including this one.

Thanks so much for this. Brings nostalgia! Bless!
Eu amava esse jogo! Que saudade! Nostalgia boa dessa época
OMG, YYEESSSS!!!!!!!, this game was my entire child hood, god i loved this game.

omg this takes me back thank you 4 chan post for reminding me of this game
I had this as part of the "Help Compilation". A triple packed PS1 game featuring Broken Sword, Myst and Road Rash. Hours of fun playing it :D
Man that intro takes me back! :D
90s: best era! Grunge and awesome games!
I laughed so hard. ^^ That was such a wonderful time with this game.
Oh man, that startup to Road Rash, SO EPIC!!!
I still have this game :D Been a while since I played...a while being since the ps1 was the current console. Man I had fun on that game but the art scared me as a kid :P
Such nostalgia. Played this ALOT
Jesus wept. Such awesome memories! I managed to get my hands on a Japanese PS1 before they even touched Europe and it was insane. I owned Master Systems and Snes' but when I got this I was almost sick. Such a great machine, and such a great game!
gosh the nostalgia the scene with the music gave me chills
kickass levels, unlockables, fully customizable, and awesome graphics and online play? ill buy in a heart beat
Those hills were guaranteed to have a car😂😂😂😂😅. I loved how when you kicked people you got more max speed 😂😂😂.
I got this game and a ps1 on my 7th birthday. I remember playing it before going to school
I loved that game. And the soundtrack from soundgardens rusty cage is awesome
