I’m curious. I cross multiplied 15 fl oz by 7500 sq ft and got 112,500 fl oz….not the 1125 that the solution says you’ll get after that cross multiplication and threw the rest of the equation off. I had to divide 112,500 by the 100sq ft to get 1125 fl oz. Why isn’t the dividing part included and how did you get 1125 fl oz after cross multiplying 15 fl oz by 7500 sq ft? The solution only mentions cross multiplying at this point. Just as the cross multiplying 1 gal over 128 fl oz and x gal over 1125 fl oz doesn’t give you 8.8 gal. I had to divide 1125 by 128 to get 8.79 gal (8.8 after round up) but that’s not just cross multiplying but has a side order of dividing as well that’s not mentioned in the video or solution. I’m having a hard time understanding how your math is different from my math when it’s the same math…15x7500=112,500, not 1125. I have an exam coming in a couple weeks and trying to learn this stuff but when I follow along and get different results from the same math it really throws me off. Not trying to be rude, just really frustrated
When you apply the method of "cross-multiplication", you get 112500 on one side and 100x on the other side of the equation. At this point, x still hasn't been isolated, so you must divide both sides by 100 to get 1125.
