Oh no, UAD...? What to do, lol. I've been trying to configure my studio as a hybrid and network, and wallah! AVB wow, money saver. Especially love not being held hostage by a company and plugins. I'm getting one, I was saving for the McDsp APB 16 but that's going to have to wait. Finally 2020 gives something good. Thanks AVID, I did feel left out since PT7, you made up for it. Thanks Vintage King for the video.
Well while this is honestly an overall better solution the band uad, unless you can get by with Luna, you are in for a rude awakening as far as being held hostage to a company LOL. You can get McDsp everything HD bundle for like 900 bucks right now. But the best aax dsp bang for your buck is Plugin Alliance mega bundle subscription on sale for 200/year
Seems a great product. I am sure this will sound killer and has superb functionality. Except, I don’t need this. This is a great product for bands. What I don’t understand is, why Avid is not making products for the masses out there. I see about zero chance the carbon interface will increase the Pro Tools marketshare. It´s a niche product. The majority of people making music in 2020 and this is the case for almost a decade now, is one guy/girl and his computer at home. If you look at all those audio users and include all non Avid users, you probably have a ratio of 10.000:1 when it comes to single users @ home at their laptops vs bands that make music. It´s great to know that modern computers like the new MacPro enable heavy native DSP use, but the truth is, many people work older, less powerful systems. If Avid would make products that adress that huge count of users, they will have a chance to increase their turnover. To reach a broader audience who doesn’t know HDX with a product like this, I see no chance.
I wish they added dual Thunderbolt 4/USB4 USB-C ports and make it compatible with Windows PC and allow daisy chaining multiple Carbons. I use a Presonus StudioLive 32 and a MOTU 1248 AVB with both Mac and Windows and take full advantage of AVB on both. I can't wait for the hybrid engine to be enabled for HDX. Pro Tools Hybrid Engine add a Goliath HD Gen3 from Antelope Audio or even the beast Galaxy 64. Avid should open up AAX DSP and make it an open industry standard so that it can run on 3rd party DSP like the Antelope Audio's Synergy Core and DAWs like Studio One. Alternatively they could license 3rd party (e.g Lynx, Focusrite) interfaces to integrate an onboard HDX-type card. Imagine if instead of the Synergy Core Antelope Audio had an interface with onboard DSP that ran AVID's AAX DSP plugin format instead of AFX. It would make AAX DSP the standard for even 3rd Party DAWs It would be great if an instance of AFX2DAW could switch between AAX Native or AAX DSP. Maybe even VST could have a standard code for native processing (Intel, AMD, Arm CPUs) and Accelerated Processing on (FPGA & DSP). I love the feature set of the Carbon really AVID here have shown leadership, 32bit end to end processing. 4 auto sensing independent headphones outputs Variable Z for Mic and Instruments Software Integration with pro Tools and the Hybrid Engine makes UAD Luna look adolescent.
Do i need to sell again everything...then next year another new system released....then? will one day we be able to have a product solid and complete , not expensive, updateable , bog companies like AVID must help stop poluition , building new to throw the old on rubbish..... thats something important about the future...think about......

Does it sound the same or better than the I/o 192?

Just ordered one I hope it's worth it

I wish this had Thunderbolt 3. Spidf and AES.
What type of desk is that?
Is it expandable?
Can you run Carbon along with a HDX system?
How much again?
umm.. does this work with ableton? or logic?
Would have preferred Dante.
