Maybe it's not the actual person they miss but what they did while they were here or how they acted around everyone. Maybe it was the music he wrote, the way he got the crowd to react to their set's while on tour or just talking to the crowd after their set was over. All of that stuff does mean something to people when maybe they couldn't get any closer to Trevor as maybe they wanted or wished to. Trevor always seemed like a great person to know, and I would have loved to have gotten a chance to get to know him or hang out together. Sadly, that will never happen.
I keep saying this. I'm pretty sure my wife is getting sick of it. It's hard because everytime I'm trying to think of something to listen to they're the first band that comes to mind. So it's been like a constant cycle that ends with: why?
@Bun_Length trust me you are not the only one feeling this way. All of us metalheads are one big brotherhood, and we just lost one of the coolest big brothers in our scene. I love BDM, but don't personally listen to them all the time. Seen them live twice, both times amazing! But it is literally like losing a brother. I've been crying on and off the last couple days, wondering why and how he could leave us. I really think losing his mom is what put him over the edge as far as depression goes. I know when I do finally lose my mom, I'm going to be completely destroyed. R.I.P. Trevor. This one is extremely difficult.
Rest in Power, Trevor. We've seen them 7 times times, and met up with them 4 times. Such an amazingly funny, and just caring man. I am still crying. He recognized me!
Matthew Bateman tell me about it, I was very lucky to chat with him at one of their gigs and he just gave me the impression he just really wanted to talk to me, nothing forced, just such a nice guy.
@@ukwonderboy same here. My brother and I drove from Dallas to Odessa a crew weeks ago to see them play. Trevor hung with us after their set. Total gentleman, thru and thru. And Alan is the shit. We got him stoned after the show. Good times.
Been a fan for years and he's always been the easiest going, laid back, doesn't take shit serious kinda dude. With his level of skill too he's a perfect front man for a band that likes to tour extensively for sure
Remember when I met Trevor at a show one time a few years ago after Everblack came out and he was chill af. He talked to us and took a picture with us as soon as we asked. And I remember asking him so where's the big tour bus?? and he was just like "eh.. yeah you don't always get that. Touring is kinda like camping forever" which made me laugh and he even said it in the video too lol. favorite band, favorite vocalist, glad they're so successful now cause they def. deserve it.
Trevor is the ultimate metal head and a great dude. He is always so open and welcoming, always supportive to aspiring bands and fans. And Hilarious. The (Metal) world needs more guys like Trevor.
Trevor really nailed it near the end. So many TBDM shows I went to where the band would come up to my friends and I, shake our hands, thank us for coming out. I remember going out for weekend festivals and running into the band downtown at bars, them seeing us wearing their merch and knowing we were there for the fest and having a drink with us. Truly incredible, one of my favourite bands to see live ever, and I'm really going to miss that.
RIP to one of the coolest metal musicians ive ever met. One of my greatest memories is Trevor coming out to the bar after a show at Tremont in cut-off jogging pants and flipflops. Asked him if he wanted a drink and he chose tall boy PBR in a can. Talked for a bit and was the most down to earth guy you would ever meet. He looks at me kinda wild eyed and says "hey man wanna start a circle pit at the bar?" So with Slayer Ghost of War blasting over the bar speakers we started a mosh pit right there at the bar lol... one of the coolest moments ive had and i was star struck. Truly a pioneer and legend of metal this is a tragic loss to the metal community.
I would love to see a Joe Rogan Experience-type podcast for interviews like this with good metal band members. Good, honest conversation between good dudes in a low-key setting, and no echo. lol
I work with this dude's aunt, and have a sticker on my bike with a picture of hi that says "Never forget". His contributions to metal, the Michigan metal "scene", and my personal obsession with all things metal are unparalleled. I stood outside a venue when I was 14 listening to them play. So surreal that he is gone.
Very cool guy. I was at a Behemoth concert in Detroit a few years ago and I turned around and he was in the crowd just hanging out, talking to fans and enjoying show. Very down to Earth.
I’m almost 30 and I’ve been a metal fan since I was about 14, I’ve heard about a lot of iconic metal musicians deaths in that time and I’ve never felt much more than an “ah damn, that sucks. I’ll listen to *insert best album here* tonight. Trevor’s death is the only one so far that’s really fuckin hurt me. Never met the guy, but he has always come off as such a genuinely nice guy. First album of theirs I heard was nocturnal, and initially I didn’t like it because I was that “true metal only” kid and TBDM were “false metalcore posers”. My best friend got super into nocturnal a little while later and since he had a drivers license, that’s what I listened to on the way to vocational school in high school. Every morning we’d smoke weed, drive out to Wendy’s and get those lil chicken breakfast sandwiches they used to serve back in the day, and go dick around for the first half of the school day with radio equipment. That album grew on me and I ended up having to do what almost every “true metal only” guy ended up doing with TBDM eventually and eating my own words and admitting black dahlia is a good ass band and aren’t “false metal”. I dunno why but hearing about trevor’s death has just been heartbreaking. His music had such an impact on a young me and I dunno... it just hurts. This whole world is just so fuckin dark and cruel and awful.
I’ve never been personally affected by a famous musician’s death, but this one breaks my heart. I’ve met Trevor a couple times and he was super nice and would actually have a conversation with you. His demeanor in person was no different than how he is in videos
My heart is completely broken 💔. I've loved "TBDM" since unhollowed, and beyond. Metal will never be the same without you Trevor. May you find peace brother.
being a hardcore kid from back in the early 2000's.... to hear his prospective on this band starting up..... all the feels. listening to Miasma on the way to Folsom shows was amazing. thank you Trevor!
I’m 38. All I listened to from 15 to 29 was metal. Since then I’ve branched out. Lately I’ve been revisiting all the metal albums that influenced me years ago. TBDM was the top of the list. I’ve been outta the loop and I’m devastated to learn about Trevor’s death tonight. Two days ago at work I was telling a coworker that they were the all around most fun band to see live, and I loved the fact that their front man’s vocals were brutal as fuck…yet he didn’t take himself too seriously. Damn.
It's interesting when you revisit old music from decades ago from a new perspective and you see which bands were cool... but derivative.. and which bands were great!
That beginning part sounded like he could have been talking about anyone of us, I’m sure a lot of people felt the absolute same growing up. Trevor being so down to earth and real was a true benefit to the world of music. I’m watching all of his interviews right now over again, such a good dude, miss you bud.
I still remember meeting trevor at the black sheep in Colorado springs on my 17th birthday during the abysmal tour, gotta say he's one of the coolest dudes I've ever met, black dahlia is also probably the tightest live performance I've ever seen
You know, I had heard of Black Dahlia Murder through being a big fan of Machine Head but I had never played their music. Now I feel kind of ashamed that I've only just played their stuff because I read that he'd died... but what an amazing band and singer. I've been hammering their full catalogue non stop all week and it's all great - even watched so much of their UA-cam content. It's so strange having the awe and excitement of discovering a fresh band but also the shock and sadness of him having passed away. It's really strange. Truly a tragic loss.
What a truly excellent interview! Trevor is just one of the nicest and most down Earth dudes in music. Seriously, I met him about two or three years ago when I was covering a TBDM show in Brooklyn and he just loves Talking and meeting the fans and taking pics with them. The fact that he fronts one of the very best death metal (or melo-death bands, whatever you want to refer to them as) in the world only makes him that much more awesome.
I actually got into Black Dahlia Murder shortly after Trevor passed. Imagine being so late discovering this incredible band and learning of such a tragic event. RIP Trevor.
Met him years ago at a show in Van, it was nothing but genuine love and smiles. He didn’t know me from a hole in wall, but he took the time to chat for a quick minute and he was more than willing to take a pic. His corporeal form may be gone, but his spirit and love lives on. Much love to all you 🖤
Hell yea! Trevor is my favorite vocalist of all time. Such a unique sound. I remember when I first heard funeral thirst, I only got to hear it just before miasma came out so I was like 13 years old and they were my first like really heavy band. Before that it was all pantera or iron maiden or metallica kinda stuff. I've been listening to Miasma and Nocturnal since they came out over and over and over and I never get tired of them, such epic shit. I don't know if he does or not but it seems like TBDM don't get enough credit for how they can make such disgusting ideas sound beautiful with the way they write the lyrics, Trevor is just a step above when it comes to the way he can write song lyrics. How he can make digging up a corpse or defiling the innocent sound so beautiful in a way.
i found so much good metal when i was a kid going to hardcore shows. i didnt really love hardcore and when a straight up metal band would play in the mix it would be so great
Rob Flynn is right. Trevor was the perfect ambassador for metal. I used to be nuts for all heavy music and got so many of my friends into so many bands but I was no where near as Trevor's music skills. He could of started a history of metal podcast. Rest in peace.
I literally cried the day you left us Trevor. Screamed maisma album walking home an hour from work the night before. Your lyrics touched my heart and mind and so many others, always such a happy dude, never full of himself like many other musicians. Sworn to black we,ll always be R.I.P brother! Much love from us Canadian yaksmen
20 years I've listened to this band and it will never be the same, thank you for inspiring me not only as a vocalist but as a writer and a human being. I will never forget hanging with the band outside of whiskey dicks in Tahoe and just shooting the shit with papa trev and Ryan knight, Rest easy Trevor. You are TRULY and deeply missed by us all
WHen I went to one of their Michigan shows in Grand Rapids Trevors Mom and Dad was there. See this dude in between the stage and barricade hangbanging. Next thing you know he is on the floor drunk as hell. What a crazy night.
I saw them in a small tiny bar because they couldn't get enough people to the big arena they had booked in Sweden a few years back (probably due to bad timing/middle of the weak) and they rocked it anyway. Trevor probably spent more time in the audience than on the stage. Great show.
Awesome interview man! I love TBDM. Trevor blocked me on Twitter once and I have no idea why? Half a year later he requested to follow me. I was stocked dude! He’s the man! Best metal band on the planet!
Years from now young kids will watch these not knowing how beautiful Trevor was. He loved Castlevania and Metal Google it future people or whatever search engine you're in for a true treat.
bro i would kill to have seen tyrant trooper back in the day. Insane Sickness is one of the greatest death metal albums I have ever heard, severely overlooked
Been listening to TBDM, suicide silence and Chealsea grin from age 18-30. I don’t venture outside of those 3 and couldn’t be happier. Shoutout to Miasma and Necropolis, Wake up, disengage etc! Soooo good!
The interviewer is by no means the worst and he asks decent questions but my god he doesn't half keep going off on a rant for ages confusing Trevor and acting like we're here to hear what he thinks!
14:14 "the internet has turned the world..to darkness... and horrible people" hahahaha looks right at the camera XD from that moment on Trevor really expressed he was done talking to him, even looked at him like "really dude" XD XD and then cuts him off when he was talking "right.. exactly" fast very quick responses XD XD HILARIOUS 😂 not even done with the interview yet and getting good kicks out of how he is responding to that dude, keep rocking Trevor!
Haha! My band sometimes rehearses with strobes and other lights going just to get use to it before a live performance. Though... we don't play nearly as often as I'd like these days. After our full length album is done, that should all change. Fucking love Trevor. Coolest dude ever.
Trevor just sounds like a normal good ole Michigan boy, had a few friends that met him and partied with him. Everyone I’ve ever heard talk about him says how cool and laid back he is
I’ll never forget (out of ALL the metal shows I’ve been too) being at Sounds of the Underground 2006 and seeing BDM and Trevor wearing those orange shorts that whole year possibly longer and dying from heat exhaustion from moshing on a 100 degree day then the end of the day the dehydration on top of being drunk wow
Got to chill with Trevor and the rest of TBDM when my band opened for them at Camden Underworld in 2006. They were the nicest guys and happily put up with our goofy 18 year old BS for at least an hour before the doors opened. They were so much nicer than some of the other bigger bands we played with in those days.
I went to attend TBDM on my 18th birthday, Trevor and the guys bought me beers, hung out all night after the concert and were the radest dudes ive met. You are missed.
I love Trevor, and I wish the interviewer made this about Trevor and not himself. Another case of a journalist being too self-absorbed to do their job properly.
Don't know how a person can miss someone they've never met. R.I.P Trevor
Maybe it's not the actual person they miss but what they did while they were here or how they acted around everyone. The few times I meet him he made me feel like his best friend definitely a awesome dude few days in and it still feels like the first day
It's been hard everyday.

I never thought I’d be writing this but Trevor, you are responsible for inspiring millions of metal heads. You were one of a kind.
A fucking legend.
Rip Trevor
I'm here mourning with you. It still doesn't feel real. We lost a great one today.
Rest in Power, Trevor. We've seen them 7 times times, and met up with them 4 times. Such an amazingly funny, and just caring man. I am still crying. He recognized me!
RIP Trevor. You were metal gold and a great dude through and through.
Best vocalist and human being
Matthew Bateman tell me about it, I was very lucky to chat with him at one of their gigs and he just gave me the impression he just really wanted to talk to me, nothing forced, just such a nice guy.
John cena is best vocalist...
@@ukwonderboy same here. My brother and I drove from Dallas to Odessa a crew weeks ago to see them play. Trevor hung with us after their set. Total gentleman, thru and thru. And Alan is the shit. We got him stoned after the show. Good times.
He pretty fuckin epic but like, Travis Ryan is a beast
RIP to an absolute legend. wish this interviewer would've let Trevor talk more.
Nearly empathizing with Trevor in this interview....almost difficult to watch.
Yeah. The interviewer is talking too much
I wish more metalheads were like Trevor
yeah, it's weird too, you would expect most guys to not be complete douche bags, and, they are a lot of the time for some reason.
Also, he's a god, cthulhu worships him. Probably.
they are...
Been a fan for years and he's always been the easiest going, laid back, doesn't take shit serious kinda dude. With his level of skill too he's a perfect front man for a band that likes to tour extensively for sure
Daniel Johnson I don't he's a fucking nerd
So sadness...His VOCALS were like no other and when I've seen him live he seemed like a very fun guy to be around...RIP Trevor.

So much for eye contact. Lol. Trevor is an amazing human being. TBDM for life!
Tbf this isn't only interview where I've seen him struggle to make eye contact, I think he's just awkward, which I relate to lol
It's a sign of adhd and autism
yeahh....
@@craigjames1082 hmm
This is great. Fun conversation to watch
Haha! My band sometimes rehearses with strobes and other lights going just to get use to it before a live performance. Though... we don't play nearly as often as I'd like these days. After our full length album is done, that should all change. Fucking love Trevor. Coolest dude ever.
Trevor the GOAT of death metal vocals
Dang this makes me cherish all my conversations with this dude
Rest in Power Trevor. 🤘🏻
R.i.p trevor one of my favourite vocalist💔🍻
*Miss you brother. Rest In Peace!*
RIP TREVOR how can u leave us this way?
Does everyone feel like Trevor is a great pal somehow, or is that just me?
M Powel I do!
Not just you.
More apparent than ever now that that's exactly how everyone felt
You’re not alone. Heard nothing but the best things about that dude.
Didn't know Seth Rogan and Jonah hills kid was a metal head
endless.decay 33
I think you beat my thought on him haha shit. XD
Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill had a baby together?
Dudes too much of a dork to be their son 😂
🤣🤣
Name drops Creation Is Crucifixion in the first 3 minutes, amazing
Great interview!
"The breakdown kids"
Love it.
Me and my friends hung out with them in Ottawa...what an amazing group of guys. They were so cool! 2007
Met him a few times seen him walk around at the bars after or before gigs just chillaxin he's a proper good feller.
I met him in Odessa a few weeks ago. You speak the truth.
This band is carrying the torch support them!
The fact that the vocalist of TBDM even remotely mentioned BTBAM made me jizz my jazz.
Sacredgeometry Those two bands have toured together a bunch of times over the years.
Great interview! RIP Trev
love that guy. great interviewer too. Kept it going and seems cool to grab a beer with
Yes I noticed that too! It was a very natural conversation, not forced at all. Just two metal bros talking about music and anything and everything.
I love Trevor, and I wish the interviewer made this about Trevor and not himself. Another case of a journalist being too self-absorbed to do their job properly.
one of the worst interviewers I've ever seen
he's not a journalist, he's the bassist for Orchid and they're just talking back and forth...
Is Trevor done with this dood at the 18:00 mark?
rayisawesoem hahaha
😂
Think the edible kicked in around 15:00
😆it looks like it.
R.I.P. Trevor
Take a drink every time they say" like".... You'll have to pause to catch up. Try it with anything these days... Its a real eye opener.
Trevor is the nicest guy. Nicest member of the band past or present members... all around awesome guy.
He had an amazing range in his vocals. True talent. You'll be missed 😔
"Taco Bell; what did you expect?" Hahaha! Too good! Great band can't wait to see them on tour in a couple weeks.
the lack of eye contact xD
yeah..
I actually got to chill with Trevor once, he's such a fucking nice guy.
