    Pine time! Your setup is great! Two verticals and conveyors! I’m going to try some pine bundles in the spring! Got a Wolfe Ridge bundler that got sent home with me a couple months ago. Figured I’d make some wrapped pine bundles and sell them cheaper than our hardwood bags and see how they go🤷‍♂️ Good stuff P&K👍🏻👍🏻

    Ok another great video. You make Karen pick up the rounds whereas you slide yours over. Well why not make her a slide to go from the bucket to the table that could be put into place when she has to split. it would be so much easier and would increase production. it would need to be about 24" wide and 48" long and solid steel but could even be supported by posts running longways from the table to the bucket. They would have to be welded to the 24 X 48 sheet. I know you could figure something out Phil to make Karen's life easier. LOL

    Just curious why do you make all of your bundle grade wood all barkless?

    • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  12 днів тому +1

      @@FirewoodFella We listened to our customers . Given the choice they bought the barkless bundles instead of the ones with bark . Our customers are campers visiting our state and they often buy 3-4 bags of wood . Once dry the bark falls off of the pine we split and the customers often are seen putting the bags in the back seat of there fancy cars or suv and by being barkless it don’t leave a mess in the cars there’s roughly 20% more wood in our bags by not having the bark on each stick . Once the pine drys most of the bark falls off anyway so there’s usually a bunch of bark in ea bag . The customers that buy our bagged wood have told us numerous times they like a clean product. They also like the fact the bag is full of wood not 80% wood and 20% bark . Also the campers that buy our bagged wood like not having a mess in there car or suv from all the loose bark that falls out . In our area I belive we are the only ones doing it barkless and the sales say we’re moving twice as much bundles as the guys bagging it with the bark on .

      We had looked into building one before we had the green monster but it’s a minimum 8 grand for materials and to pay Dana a few bucks . Maybe down the rd we can add a hopper feeder to the axis but everything takes lots of $ .

    Would it be more or less time efficient to just switch machines when Karen is in the woodyard? Buster may or may not be faster than the Axis but how fast is it when sitting idle between getting buckets of wood for Karen.

    • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  13 днів тому

      Karen could jump over to buster but I would have to slow it down . The adjustment for buster is a lil more involved to slow it down and then I’d have to speed it back up after I got her a bucket full of rounds . It’s not as simple to adjust like the axis .

      @@AllenFamilyFirewood I was thinking more like running Buster for the duration of her visit not jumping back and forth between buckets, I was not aware of Buster speed adjustment assumed it was just a matter of throttling him down. just an observation when Karen cuts the bark off majority is done with the left side of the wedge opposite direction from the tote and old habits are hard to break.👍

      @@buckinfirewood It would definitely be easier an faster with the bark on . We started buying log loads of debarked saw logs that the saw mill didn’t want because the logs have nails and iron in them . That will definitely speed up our process not having to cut the bark off . I like to be a lil different in how we do things an so far the barkless pine bundles have been a big hit with the campers .

    Hey Phil, how come the boss doesn’t have a set of overalls ha ha kidding aside have you got enough room between the stacking station and her splitter to set one of the totes their and then set one at the end of her log lift, which would mean you’d have to do something with the piece of steel at the end of her long lift like cut it off then she could just slide it off the table into the tote where you don’t use the log lift yourself but I do know you lend it out. Maybe there’s a way of making that removable so when you lend it out you can put it back on Dana might have an idea for that anyway that was a great video keep them coming. Have a good and safe week Lee Hillsgrove Trucking signing off 👍

      Karen usually has her overalls on but didn’t today . It’s really only a 30 min project to take the log lift off but Karen uses it when she gets big rounds in the bucket . Just roll em outa the bucket onto the ground an lift em up with the log lift . Maybe some day we will add a hopper feeder for her as well but they sure ain’t cheep to buy .
