For a servo to move fast enough to be effect for combat it would need to be made of a something that could withstand the force of moving several thousand tons in seconds. All the metals and alloys we have at our disposal right now would snap under the weight. It's a beautiful dream; and great men make dreams reality; so keep it up Japan.
Now the weight of an object on Earth with gravity would be different in orbit or deep space wouldn't it? Not by much, a few tons knocked off. Just a thought.
Imagine 50-100 years from now and having a genuine Gundam in orbit from Japan. More practical having one in orbit with no gravity destroying joints because of the weight. Really creative!!!

Unfortunately something like this isn't possible. The pure amount of fuel a single unit would use in ONE flight, the problem of how heavy it is, etc. It's sad but maybe we'll see supported versions of something similar like this within the century.

I doubt this one will ever be able to support it's own weight. They will have made the legs as light as possible in order to make them movable. The RX-75 is probably one of the few kinds of mecha that could actually work in the real world. Maybe an OZ-08MMS Cancer since water would support it's weight easier. Both would still be highly impractical.

I'm sure it is slow moving for safety reasons or the limitations of the rotors in the joints. Give it a few more years and some upgrades and I'm sure it will be able to do it faster with the safety of the audience in mind.

They are cool in anime, but in reality those sort of robots would be a waste of resources and totally inefficient in actual battle. Massive targets for the enemies cannons and rocket launcher and very easy to take out of action. Even a SUV with a machine gun mounted on the roof is a better war vehicle.

People have to understand that on a scale that big we dont really have the technology to be anywhere near true anime status. In my humble opinion we should start with smaller mechs too and weave them into industrial work so that more stake is put into thier development.

not only Yokohama. There r 3 1:1 Gundam in Japan. RX-78-2 in Yokohama, RX-93 Nu Gundam in Fukuoka, and RX-0 Unicorn in Tokyo.

it's still in prototype stage it'll take years to perfect this level of technology.
I'm sure it is slow moving for safety reasons or the limitations of the rotors in the joints. Give it a few more years and some upgrades and I'm sure it will be able to do it faster with the safety of the audience in mind.

They already have robot suits that they have for doing battles in so this would be the logical next step and I want in on tdd he action as a gamer we would be the perfect operators lol
They are cool in anime, but in reality those sort of robots would be a waste of resources and totally inefficient in actual battle. Massive targets for the enemies cannons and rocket launcher and very easy to take out of action. Even a SUV with a machine gun mounted on the roof is a better war vehicle.
@@davidgreen5994 true but if in reality they where built out of the metal they are made of in the anime they would be far superior and a blast from a rocket would be like a bee sting to something that can fall through the atmosphere and not burn up on reentry. I've seen every anime and if it where real nothing in our time would stop it I think.

People have to understand that on a scale that big we dont really have the technology to be anywhere near true anime status. In my humble opinion we should start with smaller mechs too and weave them into industrial work so that more stake is put into thier development.
This was Never a real working Mech Suit project - it's like an attraction for tourists. I'm surprised that so many people in the comments section actually believes that somehow this suit would one day be operational!
