    Question: Given the LIATE/LIAET rule, would it have mattered if had switched the variables and assigned sin(x) as u and e^x as v?

    By ILATE rule sinx is first function and e^x is second function but you took oppositly.....

      I receive a lot of comments about ILATE. Yes, you can use it BUT it does not always work. Completing lots of questions in order to gain experience is my preferred option…and, by all means, reference ILATE but do NOT rely on it.

      It’s a method of selecting the functions when using integration by parts. The order of the letters references the type of function. I for Inverse, L for logarithm, A for algebraic, T for trig, and E for exponential function. There are other acronyms but they mean the same thing.
