In making bricks, the children of Israel needed straw to hold together and strengthen the building material. Here are some examples of spiritual straw.

I love this speech and E.Featherstone.
I was at Sydney Hyde Park branch when he visited us there. I was newly baptized in the church, so I had no Idea who he was. Many members were new in the branch at that time. Not many people knew him, I guess.
    Before the sacrament meeting,
He introduced himself to every single member. He told his name and asked for shaking hands with everyone.
I felt something special about him, the spirit.
I asked him where he was from. He said,"We (He was with his wife) are from the U.S."
I thought he must be someone special in the church. Then I lost my words. I smiled and just said, “I hope you’ll enjoy it here.” After that, I was still wondering who he was.
Then sacrament meeting started and he was in the from seat. And He was introduced as the area authority of the seventy. After the meeting, everyone was so amazed. He was so humble not telling us who he was…. He knew that we would get nervous and would not get close to him if we knew that he was one of the seventy in advance.
That’s about thirty years ago. I still remember vividly. We love you E. Featherstone!

One of the best talks I’ve ever heard! And, it’s 37 years since this talk was given.

Vaugn J Featherstone was my Southern States General Authoirty when I was on my mission to Georgia, Atlanta Mission in 1984-1986. I was able to meet him my first night out at an all mission conference, really a wonderful experience and a wonderful man he was and is.

Beautiful words about our beloved Elder and Sister Holland while they were at BYU! 💖💖 I'm so glad these talks were recorded and are periodically brought out to our remembrance. 🤗

Vaughn J Featherstone came through our ward once here in Boise and heard my mother say, "Family Home Evening last the WHOLE evening." It was somewhat of a complaint because people would call the house all odd hours since my Dad was the Bishop. I later heard VJF use that quote in a talk.

    Great message!
Like David of old, with Goliath, we are in a fierce battle against sin, and Satan. If we choose to let our guard down, we will become slaves to sin, and will be miserable.
If we choose to follow Jesus Christ, we will be truly forever free, and will have eternal happiness. Eternal life is the best of the best gifts!
