  • A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Lord's day morning November 11th 1877.
In this sermon, Spurgeon is quite ambitious. He seeks to examine the intricate connections between Faith, Joy, Peace and Hope. It is not easy to untie this Gordian knot, but the message cuts through the confusion as far as the preacher is able. The theme is both joyful and glorious!

A great sermon by C. H. Spurgeon❤ Lord God used such a humble soul to convey the greatest stories ever told❤ born again at age 66 1/2 years old, Lord Jesus walked right into my heart when I was in the muck and mire of the results of my sinful entire life, I was looking back at the emptiness that was a result of always pushing God away because of my living for my sin, that was what I loved, I was a slave to sin and when I grew old enough I just got tired of the same outcome, but was still a slave to sin and had an overwhelming sense of guilt, that day, I remember looking down, crying and talking with God and truly believing that I was doomed, I was surely going to be destroyed at judgemental, I felt hopeless, and then a miracle happened, a love that was sweet washed over my heart and spread throughout my entire being, I really didn't know what was happening, it was actually days before I kinda understood but was to afraid to believe, that love continues to grow and teach me how to love back, God and my Jesus mean the world to me, I love that God in his great love and grace gave to me salvation through the greatest act of love completed by his Son Jesus, the perfect lamb slain before the foundation of the earth was formed. Oh, how I love my God, the Father of us all, he is a great Father, how could I ever even express with simple words the beauty of the Beautiful❤

Something went awry and now I type this message a second time. Your life sounds like mine too. Year for year even!!!! Now I look back and see how God had angels delivering messages which I would ignore and or reject. The first message about age 9 was a vision of Jesus with crown of thorns in the clouds like a picture on our wall at home. Then at age 15 an angel delivered a message which I rejected as coincidence. Then around 1988 my fascination with the music of Gustav Mahler and reading of his widow's involvement with Franz Werfel, author of "Song of Bernadette"; story of girls visions and also interesting that Mahler's wife's name, Alma, signifies in the Bible. And also reading the biography of Robert Andrew Millikan (RAM), I focus on his explanation of a line from Shakespeare's Hamlet, " There is a divinity shapes our ends, rough- hew them how we will". Millikan was a Nobel prize winning physicist of the 20th century. These memories are too focused to be just random points of interest. Look back at some memories and you may have 'questions' as to why so!!!!
