You say who would want to work with a nutcase, but I think you would be quite entertaining to work with, plus anyone who did work with you would learn a lot!!
Excellent video again, especially as it helps us to understand the separate the electrical and water circuits and then their interdependence.
The idea of making drawings and notes of the connections inside the box is good but these days most of us have a camera phone, so I recommend taking plenty of pictures too they make an excellent reference and reduce note-taking significantly. A picture after all, is "worth a thousand words" as my old geography teacher used to say :)

@blueskysivas Me too, there seems to be a million and one things to learn and that's after a lengthy college course. I think good plumbers are completely under rated considering the amount of knowledge they have to learn. Most people have no idea about what is required to become good at this, if they did they would realise that a good honest plumber is worth every penny.

Love video it so well explained . Maybe you can help with my question if the boiler has pump over run on a combi driving 2 two port values rads & underfloor heating and valves have just shut the pump in the boiler will not be able to pump the water.
Those kind of connecter blocks and boxes for this method of wiring are going out. New kind of connectors that are made by Wago which hold the wires with levers and save time using screw connectors
Great Video, 2 questions… 1. When balancing an s plan do you do the whole house as one or each zone separately? And 2. Should I adjust the gate valve on the back end of indirect cylinder to reduce the flow and slow the water.

Great video as usual, I have an issue with an S Plan, just changed the HW zone valve having previously changed the pump a year ago. The HW Zone valve removed was a Satchwell which clearly had an historic slight leak, over the years corrosion set in so I cannot see the flow direction arrow on the old valve. So I pointed the flow at the lower cylinder junction 22mm which I think is right, but now the HW only gets warm, it used to get very hot because the old valve was stuck fully open, I need to clearly see a flow direction diagram, your video runs through it but as this is a 2007 Baxi install it appears somewhat different as it tees off between the two zone valves. After all that a full water flow direction video would be a great Idea - no-one has done one yet so it should get a few views :-)

I think I get it now. The cylinder could be full of cold water but it's cylinder stat wont kick the boiler , pump or motorised valve in to gear until the programmers hot is set to on manually or programmed to come on at a certain time. All in the correct circuitry of which I should understand a bit better now I hope.

hi great video, on our system, the orange and grey wire aren't connected to anywhere, only earth, the neutral, i see there 3 blue wires connected together (one is from the valve motor), then the 3 of the earth wire (one is the motor wire) , and then i have two brown connected together, but of the 2 way valve the brown is connected alone in the terminal box, should this valve motor brown wire connected with the other two? any tips?

I want to install zoned heating in my new home. I'm thinking Honeywell T6's in each room and 2 port valves to control the flow to convector radiators. Is this a good idea or should I be installing an underfloor heating style manifold?

I got ufh and radiators. To seprate them I did put 2 port motorised valve for both. But question I would like to ask is, do we put any thing (valve etc) on return side ?
How does this factor in to zone valves on underfloor heating where the zone is still calling for heat but the underfloor circuit is self circulating due to be up to temp. Does that not cause pressure issues?
@taitlawrence That's good mate, good luck with getting a job. Having your ACS & a driving licence is a must. So stick with it...........Do what I've done in the past, as a young man, when site work dried up; I worked as a Joiners mate, Brickies Labourer & even did 6 months as a Dryliner. All great experience.
Keep looking & with your apprenticeship you've always got a foot in the door...........;-)
Great easy to follow video. I have an S plan system and have reason to think the synchron motor on one of the V4043H 1056 two port valves is not working properly (doesn't seem to switch the micro switch). So before investigating further I thought I'd replace it. Now the thing is I have a spare which I've had for quite some time (from previous house) - it has blue wires so suspect it's a genuine Honeywell, it's made in USA, and on its surface is stamped (in ink) Honeywell F5-9311. So what I'd like to know is if it would be compatible with my zone valve. Would it hurt to try? Perhaps all synchron motors are the same? I'd be grateful if you can advise. Thanks :)
I have just traced out my heating system in my new home (old 50s house) which is S plan. Runs of a Rayburn, pump, hot water tank but has no 2/3 port valves. It just tees off for rads and storage tank. Does this seem normal? Think it has a stat attached to the outlet Rayburn pipe to kill the pump on setpoint (75C)
my central pressurised heating system was automatically working past few years.Now problems is that it is not working according to time programmer.fist both hot water and heating system are to be switched on manually and any one to be switched off ,other is tripped and started to working.could you give an advice on this problem at an earliest.
Hi...I have a problem with Center 2 Port Motorised Valve 22mm I don't know if is a problem with the head or valve I changed just head ( not valve ) for new one and I found this problem.
When I turned on the water for heating the Lever stay in position not moving( motor works ) but my central heating works as well even though it is turned off
When I turned on central heating the Lever changes positions to the top ( I think this is like should be ? I have right or not?)
The valve wasn't stiff I easy turned by my fingers

How does the pump and boiler “run on” till all the boiler heat is dissipated??????
Great video and channel. Could you explain what the pump overrun is please. The reason I ask is because I have had a new Worcester Bosch system boiler fitted and there are now strange hissing noises coming from the hot water cylinder when programmer switches off the boiler, or when the central heating thermostat switches off the boiler. It is as if the pump in the boiler is still on, but there is nowhere for the water to circulate (due to the valves on the S plan system being closed). The noises stop when the pump switches off after a couple of minutes.

hi.how do u rectify the problem like when switch on my heater or water near the tank but the boiler downstairs keep on turn on and off for 3 min off then on and off.so the water and heater is not working as it suppose to be..
To my mind, s plan is so much better than y plan, so this begs the question, why have a y plan system, when it's more complicated to diagnose faults, and more prone to problems?
I understand the zone valves are 24v so where is the transformer located.
I have a similar set up in airing cupboard. Can you advise plz .. programmer off for hot water but pump is on 24/7 and I get hot water . I think the 2 port valve is sticking, boiler clicks off and on all day. Should I get the valve changed ? Ta

When I just have my hot water on my radiators are getting red hot. Does it mean one of my valves is faulty?
Do S-plan unvented systems NEED an automatic/manual bypass valve for pump overrun (cool the boiler)? Whats the consequence of not having one? Thanks

Hey James, when the valve micro switch fails to switch off (as it does frequently) when the valve closes, the burner is on constantly with both valves closed. Must a radiator be piped independently of valves to prevent an explosion?

my central heating at the moment is split into 2 zones and to turn each zone off I manually go to boiler and turn a valve, works a treat but annoying. I happen to have an electric valve handy, do you think it would be possible to wire it up to the mains? I have a WiFi switch on the mains so the theory is I can turn power on and off to the valve?

Yes I agree it is just that we usually use the orange as the switch wire.
Great videos. I have a 2 port and when it is activated for heating the switch WILL NOT stay in the manual position. Is this a microswitch thing? Can you replace just the switch as the unit is an old Honeywell so I can't just replace the head? Thanks.

I have hot water cylinder with 2 port valve it's gravity system. The hot water only come if I turn (heat/ hot water ) option in the programmer and when I put on (hot water only ) the boiler not firing.
Plumber came and changed my programmer but the problem still same

I have a 2port salus faulty valve, plumber advised me to run without it for now and allow hot water to flow through so we can have the underfloor heating on, is this ok to do? will it cause any damage until I get a replacement? thanks

Need help im an trainee electrician trying to help fix my dads simply but confusing hot wate cylinder thermostat that wired direct to a 2 port motorised valve the plan is when hot water tank reach heat that will power valve to provide more hot water to radiators please help can supply pictures

Excuse my ignorance but why would the programmer be telling the cylinder it needs hot water. shouldn't only the cylinder know when it needs hot water. For example the way you explained it you said the programmer is telling the cylinder it needs hot water. Well what if the cylinder tells the programmer that it does'nt need hot water.
the programmer calls for heat and sends a signal to the stat, if the stat isn't satisfied it will send a signal to the zone valve to open
