Flower arranging course: blossomandbran... Are your flowers being nibbled by all sorts of insects as we roll into late summer? Yes, ours are too! Because we are pesticide free, we have our fair share of nibblers around--but the good news is, your flowers don't have to look perfect in order to still use them! In fact, sometimes it can be fun to push ourselves to use those imperfect blooms from the cutting garden, and when they're all put together, they look great and nobody notices those little imperfections!
We'll walk around the flower farm and take a look at some late July bloomers, and do a little instructional on how to make a hand-tied bouquet that doubles as a centerpiece in this video!
Maybe, in a way, this is a good analogy for life...it's not always perfect in the small details, but by stepping back and looking at the big picture--we can still find beauty in it all.
How are your flowers faring this time of year? Do you have some nibbling happening in your cut flower garden or veggies?
Love this! Waste not! More bouquet tutorials please!
O yes please. Loved this video ❤
I've said it before and I'll say it again! I LOVE these bouquet building videos/tutorials! They are so helpful as it's what I struggle with the most. I try and they just end up squished together but with you x method it's a little less squished. I'll keep practicing 😊
So glad to hear, thank you for telling me!!
I've been pulling petals off echinacea and just using the center and absolutely love the look of it in arrangements. It lasts so long in the vase, too!
Yes, we do that as well! I like to leave a lot of them for the birds too though 🥰
Thank you for the “Cris Cross” bouquet tutorial. I’m anxious to try it. ❤❤❤
Just building my cutting garden at our S.C. home where we moved last November. Best flower so far is echinacea Cantaloupe. Long stems. Lots of flowers.
Thank you for teaching how to make a bouquet
You are truly so informative you know your stuff and I learn so much from you! Thank you so much. Beautiful bouquet!
So imperfectly perfect! I absolutely love your videos! ❤
Gorgeous bouquet and a wonderful instructive lesson! Thank you for sharing ❤
That looks beautiful. You make it look so easy to build the bouquet.
❤❤I feel very encouraged to start growing and arranging flowers because of your videos.
I’m so happy to hear that!! That’s my goal, to get folks growing their own and connected to their gardens in a deeper way ❤️❤️❤️
@@BlossomandbranchYou have such a good heart. That is what attracts me to your channel. Thank you for these videos
LOVE this! Thank you for sharing your talents with us. Beautiful!
Love your flowers and arrangements!😊
Same with Sunflowers: pulled off all the apricot petals, put it in the vase. It just had a different impact. The sunflower looks like the “anchor” plant in that bouquet.
That is a really lovely bouquet. Very helpful tutorial on making a bouquet for a low vase. Also like your point of not feeling upset over the odd hole or brown spot. My garden is producing quite a few flowers now and it will be fun to practice your techniques.
Beautiful!! Thanks for the info about how to build a bouquet.
Fabulous! Thanks for this reminder that nothing in nature is contrived. Such a gorgeous bouquet.
So nice of you, thank you!
I love your bouquets! Don’t stop! You are very thorough and yet concise.
I just love those colors!
Beautiful bouquet! I’m going to try this and see if I can make a bouquet with some flowers from my yard. We’ll see how it turns out!😊
Please do! Report back! 🥰
ALL my flowers are imperfect with this ongoing triple digit heat right now. I’m counting my blessings for having them at all and making sure there’s still plenty for my precious little pollinators. (My garden is not huge so I’m shy with the shears.)
Thank you for your bouquet tips! I was able to try your X shape tips and rubberbands for my sunflowers, ageratum, zinnias and snapdragons and it looks freaking awesome! 😍 I used to put things in the vase and they never sat right or leaned over and looked sad. I'm never doing that again and im sharing your info with my mom who has the same issue with her bouquets 💐
This was a lovely and heartening video for everyone out there struggling with imperfect flowers (including myself). Would love to get your thoughts on the dreaded thrips, they've invaded my cosmos and likely to get into everything else shortly. Much like you suggested with the roses, I'm just trying to bring them in early before the thrips all get inside. Not really an options so much with snaps. I lost my snap harvest to thrips and stink bugs :( I hope to keep striving for regeneration and balance in the garden in the hopes of easing these things.
First year growing the Madame Butterfly Cherry Bronze and I love the unusual color! I usually grab a couple blooms from the garden as it is getting dark to enjoy inside. These bring me joy. Thanks for your educational videos!
Absolutely stunning
Wonderful advice!! Love your channel!!
Beautifully done video ❤
I would 100% buy a shirt with "you don't have to be perfect to be beautiful" with a kind of rough-looking bouquet graphic
Love that!!!
Gorgeous.
❤ so lovely ❤
Just wow
I love that you encourage this! As just a home gardener, my flowers are never perfect. Quick question, do you do anything to ensure you don't bring any pests inside? I also have houseplants so I don't want any of the garden pests to take up residence on my indoor plants either.
This was so helpful, and your bouquet was stunning!
Beautiful. Thank you for showing us how you construct a bouquet- brilliant! I would love\ to see more videos like this -) x
I've just ordered all my seeds for this summer (I'm in NZ so winter right now for us). Super excited about a couple of cut flower garden beds I'm planning. I got these 4 pocket non-woven felt planters and am doing a different colour palette for each. One yellow (wife's favourite colour) and one pink (son's favourite colour). Been enjoying all the cut flower videos lately in anticipation!
What seeds have you ordered? I’m about to place my king seed order (from nz too!) but would love some inspiration!
@@Theskybluerose That's where I order from too! I think my favourites for flowers are Rudbeckia Rustic Dwarf, Linaria Licilia Peach, Dianthus (I get a couple types), Echinacea Green Twister, and then in the free selection I picked Nigella Love in a Mist which looks quite nice but I haven't tried that one before
Peachy bouquet, my favorite color. Beautiful!! What rose variety was that? Thanks
Beautful! I always use the "less than perfect" flowers for myself, although I don't make arrangements for myself nearly as often as I should/want!
You are so right! Gorgeous!
Beautiful ❤❤
Love this color palette and how gorgeous the bouquet turns out! Holding the flowers in x-shape does seem much simpler than doing a spiral (which I'm still practicing)
Speaking of earwigs….. I am attempting to direct sow some flowers for fall based on one of your videos, but the earwigs have eaten some of the seedlings.. could you a do future video on how to prevent and/or catch the offending pests?
I’m a fan of your teachings and have learned a lot. You’ve inspired me to try growing flowers in raised gardens beds. Thank you!
Beautiful! 🎉
Enjoying it so much! Thank you! What sort name of this rose?
what type of clippers do you use to trim bouquet down? very pretty!
So very lovely!❤❤❤ Would you be willing to share your clipper brand? My small ones are struggling to cut lately, but my big ones are overkill for flowers!
These are excellent ones from the floral society :)
You don’t have a lot of Japanese beetles because they’re all at my house. 😂😂
What variety of Rudbeckia did you use? Everything was so beautiful!
Cherry brandy I believe!
How do you get rid of little bugs hiding in the flower buds before making the bouquet?
How do you keep from bringing insects into the house? When I cut flowers for arrangements from my gardens I always bring in bugs
I had the same question
Turn it upside down and give it a good shake for 15 seconds and that should take care of it!! ❤️
So so beautiful!!! You make it look so easy.
What do you do to get the bugs out of flowers you harvested?
Turn upside down and shake :)
