Hey Toby, thanks for making these videos. They've helped me go from being a noob to a decent player, I can't thank you enough for your efforts to help others get better at the game.
Great advice I love the way you structured this inside the mind type video. It felt like you were really dialed in on the most important decision you made at each point in your fights. I believe that paying attention to your most important decision is the best way to improve game sense consistently since its really hard to pay attention to everything if you just break down your most important mistake every game improvement becomes pretty clear and much easier. Sorry for nerding out lol love this type of content and comparing what im thinking actively to what great players and pros are thinking to see if my thought priority is correct or if I missed something. Great vid
These sorts of videos are so so helpful! Thank you! I've been a dirty little bushcamper this season. Here's what I have to add: Bushes are extremely strong in reload solos due to how much open space there is. Even if your enemy tries to get away with a mobility item, as long as you have ok aim you will still be able to get damage on them. I'm never eager to push but I'm having a great time making everyone around me uncomfortable. If you place a bush in the middle of the circle or out in the open you must have mobility or bunkers in the case of being attacked from multiple angles. If you have no mobility you can set up on the outer edge of the circle, using the storm to protect your back and get easy third party kills. Or you can run around and just throw the bush down as soon as you take a shot or see an enemy, like you did toward the end of this video. In the end game I agree bunkers are better if you can get them. If you happen to have the opportunity, try this trick I've been doing- throw a bush bomb down at the top of a bunker. This allows you to hard peek and it conceals your back without using a second bunker. Also if anyone wants to push you, it's way more dangerous for them. When you're in the bush you can aim down sights to see through it and your opponent cannot. Furthermore, it's easier to be aware of everything around you from in a bush rather than a bunker. If you have to fight a bushcamper you can break their bush witha rocket launcher, a mammoth pistol or a bunker. Hope this was helpful to somebody. 👍
Sorry I remembered two more things: you can combine cover and concealment another way. Throw the bush down right next to a tree, structure, etc. If your bush is destroyed you still have cover. Also this protects you from people who blindly spray into the bush to figure out where you are. If you get into a weird 50/50 in a bush try slide kicking the other person out so that you assume the bush and they have to get away or rush into the bush again.
Bro, you kill me three times in this game, I´am the Aura guy haha your first kill in Oasis map. Thanks for your videos very helpful. I started play Fortnite this year in March (zero knowledge) but thanks to yours videos and @Zarraxus Gameplays and advices I hit Unreal this reload season. I hope hit Unreal next season in chapter 6 and improve mi combat and gamesense. Thanks.
Awesome vid Toby!!! I really like the part early on where you mentioned you identified what kind of player you were fighting and decided to jump him. The people I play with often times characterize me as a w-key player (which is true) but I find myself doing this a lot. I’ve never been able to explain it as well as you besides me saying “I smell fear im jumping this guy” lolll.
Thanks for the tips Toby, I’ve been playing reload zero build ranked since last night and I won 4 straight games yesterday, then 2 today. It’s so much fun! The only thing I do differently from you is carry chug splash in the 5 spot instead of a grappler, I prefer shockwaves over grapplers and I love chug splash because of the quick healing.
Really great info, especially as catch my self making a lot of the mistakes you mentioned and then get annoyed with myself for being stupid. Big take away for me is dont just take stupid 50/50 fights, play cover, get damage while taking as little as possible and be aware of your surroundings. Sounds easy right but I think how you explained it makes so much sense to be able to put it into practice. Thanks Toby, keep up the great content brutha👊
Considering the immutable fact that grapplers seem to be here to stay, I think you should do an in depth mastery tutorial of the item. For one, I notice you never grapple cancel and that's a definite area for targeted improvement. But additionally, there's a huge game sense component that grappler experts use to win 1v4s etc by constantly breaking LOS. There's also the trick of shooting the grappler downwards while being in air to get a massive slide speed boost. Then there's also pairings of grappler play with other mobility items. More examples that can be covered include best uses of the grappler when escaping, pushing, rationing ammo, aiming when in mid air (crosshair placement) etc You're a great CC when it comes to breaking things down and thinking about engagements tactically. Considering there's practically no instructive tutorials out on mastering the grappler I think it could be a massive hit of a vid
I tested the Aim Assist in creative and found that looking into a bush you have 0 AA on someone center bush. However, just like the reticle turning red, if your enemy has any part of them sticking out side of the bush(like an elbow) you will gain AA. If they step back to center bush you will lose your AA, essentially just shrinking the no AA zone from the entire bush to the center. This is consistent with what the patch notes states. By simulating how a human would aim, the system is less likely to rapidly lock onto a target partially hidden behind foliage, giving players a more natural aiming experience.
I love this game mode so much but the number of times I'm losing in 2nd or 3rd place is getting beyond a joke, so thanks for the timely advice and let's see if I can put it to use!
I feel paying attention to when the reboots close is very important. Even though you may have all your lives left and will be getting the max extra over shield but if you allow your replenishing overshield to be broke, you will be missing the extra 50 when the bonus hits. Maybe you mentioned this and I missed it. Just felt it was extremely important but if knowledge to be skipped.
Hey, Toby. I watched your video and I want to make some observations. Firstly I think it’s very important to consider that these tips only apply based on the assumption that your enemy isn’t that good with aim. It doesn’t matter how good you are, if your enemy can hit their shots, believe me, none of this works really. 4:41 this person never really tried to fight back. Based on his hammer rifle, if after the first shockwave he had stopped to hit some shots and then escape, he could’ve won that. 5:31 you relied a lot on luck with those shots that didn’t hit. Based on these little examples, what tip do you have for someone that fights, let's say an unreal lobby where people don’t miss their shots and don’t just stay there and take it?
These are not correct observations. Every fight is a decision based on odds - there are no guarantees of winning any fight. You simply stack the odds in your favor as much as you can. There was about a 15% chance the player at 4:20 turns around and fights after being hit for over 130+ damage, even if he does, all I have to do is land 120 damage and he has to land 220. I gave him no options to get an advantage though and I kept the pressure on. 50% of fights is about keeping the enemy on their heels with no time to think. There is little chance people continue to hit you through bushes when you are moving left and right in them. You can deal more damage than they can, the odds are greatly in your favor. Watch any of my streams or gameplays and you will understand that this stuff always had a high probablity of working. And if they don't work, I always have a back up plan. Its about mitigating risk. Watch all the videos in my "must watch" playlist and put it into practice if you want to dominate unreal lobbies.
Hey, I love your videos, they're very helpful! I was wondering if you could make a video going into depth on decision making in fights? My aim and mechanics are pretty good(at least I think) but my decision making in general is not, and I die a lot because of it. If you could, this would be very helpful! Thanks again for making these videos!
@dylanholt1592 watch my "inside the mind" videos, and my game sense videos, and my how to win 1v1 videos, etc. If you have watched through all the videos in my "must watch" Playlist you should have pretty good game sense and combat decision making.
this is a pretty selfish question but... could you carry me to unreal? i'm champion 20% rn and i literally cant even land because i just get sprayed and if i land i will die the same way
good video but they fixed it so controller players have aim assist in bushes now when Human like aim assist was released also tip for controlling bloom crouching makes it expand slower so best way to full spray at long range in fortnite is crouch stand still and full fire the most effective way for long range is bursts while sitting still and crouching just I saw that when you were in a bush spraying someone at long range just wanted to help a little
challenge show 7 day controller zero build progression but for tips watch the youtuber called crossedandclipped just coppy his youtube name and his name will show up as Webby and you can introduce some of your ideas but use his videos to improve at fortnite zero build on controller and you can play your keypad as long as you do 2 or 3 hours of controller.
I was destroying duos with a bot account (my mobile phone) and now it looks like a big camping match this season. I constantly get 3rd partied. Or sniped by a camper. I stopped playing it while last season it was my favorite mode. Your tips explain why. I'm a close combat guy.
Unfortunately fortnite is broken. I'm having fps drops down to 8 fps and it makes game unplayable. I tried fixing that but nothing worked. Last chapter I had no issues.

@Zarraxus thanks Z! I'd love for you to make an inside the mind like this - I'm sure I'd learn a ton.
I'm so good at being the "monkey in the middle", 😂😂 trying to improve on it though. Thanks for the tips!

I believe they fixed the aim assist in bushes and when aiming through windows in the last "human-like" aim assist update a couple months ago FYI.
I'm PS5, I'd like to know when this supposed aim assist ever kicks in?
@RickLaw101 turn it completely off in your settings and you might be able to tell :)
