      Just a bit of well-intentioned feedback - I'd recommend getting into the content sooner. A two min introduction is a long time to wait for most viewers so my guess is a significant amount of people are clicking away before you even get to mistake #1.
      Again, not trying to be an asshole, just want to give some helpful/honest feedback. Especially because the rest of the content is well thought out and high quality.

    I'm actually 44 years old now and haven't played Fortnite for over 3 years. Recently, I joined a game with the kids, where we were playing no build, and I performed poorly. However, I decided to watch your video and applied your techniques during some late Fortnite no-build training, lol. Today, I asked the kids to let me have a go. Let me tell you, the outcome was amazing - I achieved my first solo victory with an impressive 15 kills, and the kids were going crazy. The match was insane, and it became the talking point around the table. I thought you should know that your video helped.

    2. Hold utility while running for quick cover/getaway.
    3. No crouching in open. Be a crazy moving thing.

    My other advice on weapon swapping is swapping weapons as you change your distance. By this I mean as I approach a POI where there are buildings or cover, or more opportunities for close or indoor encounters, I'm swapping off my AR to my shotgun. So, swap your weapon based on your surroundings and the distance of engagement they are going to force on you. I've had lots of losses in the past, getting stuck with my AR indoors because I forgot to swap to close range weapons as I entered a POI or building.
    Same thing for when I'm leaving a POI, swapping back to my AR or my movement items as I'm transitioning back to the open areas of the map. This goes hand in hand with remembering to reload your weapons. Make sure you are always swapped to the right weapon based on situation and location. Emergency swapping to the right weapon on the fly will also get you Elim'd against experienced opponents.

    • @ericgonser1544
      @ericgonser1544 7 місяців тому +3

      I also do this and have never seen anyone mention this.
      Another thing I do is go to my shotgun before getting In a vehicle. If someone blows up my car or I want to push someone I am ready to go. If I hop out to long range attack them my ar is one click away but if it's a close range fight I want my shotgun ready to go.

      And if you're referring to right when you land from the bus, you already don't have a weapon so that's kinda a given that you'll have your pickaxe out

Not only has my confidence got way up, this evening I've played 5 ranked matches with 2 wins, 1 win had 10 kills, a 2nd, a 3rd and only 1 blooper (old habits die hard). Once again, I'm glad to see I've been following most of your tips already. I will say, however, that the "take a step back behind cover" answers one of the questions I had for a long time. I noticed that some of my close-quarters fights were crushing defeats, but others were dominating victories, and now I know how I can more easily replicate the latter. All that's left is to leave anxiety behind, which has been hard for me to do lately. Also, one thing that's helped me immensely is running two guns instead of three. I used to undervalue the importance of deployable cover, so now I use the extra slot on the Ice Wall, which is insanely powerful in all formats of ZB. The one thing I wouldn't recommend to other players is to ditch their shotgun like I have. I understand the risk of not running a shotgun and I'm fine with it. I'd say it's a carry-over from my Apex days, with my favourite loadout in that game being sniper/SMG (Volt/Sentinel for those curious).
    I also have a tiny request: would it be possible to add the Junk Rift and the Rift-To-Go to the training grounds? I'd like to use them after the glory that was Horde Rush. Either way, this was another banger of a video, and a good reminder of how I should be playing.

    • @shanebreezy4453
      @shanebreezy4453 7 місяців тому +1

      No shotgun is skitz mate. That's the most important gun in fortnite.. I'd rather have a grey variant of the worst shotgun in the game than have two legendary guns of other types.
      I agree with the 2 gun loadout though, the best in my opinion is a hard hitting shotgun like the sharptooth, and a twin mag AR because it's good for long distance and close distance spray (hipfire) to follow a good opening shotgun shot. It's very versatile

    I didn’t even realize I have been using a lot of these tactics, mainly through years of trial and error. I think my biggest takeaway from this was confidence in pushing someone below me and keeping mobility and heals, especially for OG Fortnite. I tend to do really well and will get to 10 players before realizing I don’t have necessary heals and utilities to go toe to toe with the final players, especially with scenarios that put me at a disadvantage. This video has boosted my confidence in my playstyle and made me more aware of the usefulness of the loot available.

    Training with visual audio has surprisingly sharpened my ability to pinpoint the source of sounds before I visually identify them. This means that within a split second of hearing a potential player nearby or behind me, I'm already prepared to take the first shot. However, if you feel overwhelmed by the direction of incoming noises, it can significantly impact your gameplay.

    Amazing tips man! Learnt so many I didnt know! One I find very helpful that would make a fine addition to your tips is developing familiarity with an average of how many bullets SMGS, pistols, shotguns and AR's normally have, so you can keep track of when your opponent is close to needing to reload. I often pick that moment to engage in combat to blast opponents when they are about to run out of ammo and they find out it's now too late to reload and/or swap weapons. Sometimes it's a matter of practicing the timing on when to jump into a fight when it's too late to even swap weapons. I have learnt most people naturally shoot their guns till the clip's empty rather than switching to a loaded weapon instead.

    I never knew about the right shoulder peek. I will use it for sure. The weapon swap I allready did but for a different reason. Because I often died because I was forced to reload and the other plater then had an easy shot on me. Now I weapon swap and reload my weapons when the area is clear

    Comment for the intro 😢 that's me. In-between acing people who are good and getting smoked by people who can't hit their shots on the next person they fight. I can't tell yall how much Master Toby has brought my game up in the past few weeks! This man's content is PACKED full of small details that make a huge difference. I'm stoked to watch this 😊

      For fights in the open, pay attention to the timing from when the first shot is fired until a third party lands on you. You need to make sure this timer is ingrained in your head so you know if you even have time to loot the body or not (or even finish the fight). In all situations, being in the jungle in first zone is different than being in the jungle in the 5th zone or being in mega city... I see an extraordinary amount of people die after a fight to a third party when I'm sitting there saying "times up, you are about to dieeee". Not just people who I'm watching after I die, streamers and pros do it too. This is a key note of my strategy. When the time is near up and I don't have them dead yet (or I'm in a position to lose the fight) I'll either try to stop shooting (in hopes that the 3rd party will go to them and not me), I'll move to pretend I'm running and reposition to 3rd party the 3rd party who landed on the person I was fighting, or straight up run from the fight and look for heals atleast 150m away from the fight.
      If you won the fight near the time when a 3rd party is coming, I'll abandon the loot or reposition from the fight location and hide for 15 seconds to see where they are coming from. But my strategy also includes alot of other map knowledge details to make an informed decision on what I am going to do, maybe I know there's noone around and emote on them for a moment before I heal in the wide open- it just depends. As the video progresses I will comment below with other parts of my strategy/details I've picked up that go with what he's saying and am happy to delete if Master Toby doesn't approve 😅

      I use my mobility for 2 reasons: to get out of sketchy situations and to pounce on someone that I already hit for over 50 dmg. I only shoot 5-7 AR bullets or 1/4-3/4 of my smg mag and will do atleast 50 damage. After those shots I pounce without hesitation and use my fresh shotgun. You can figure out when and where reloading will be helpful but even this hesitation in lots of cases will make a big difference, somy main tactic is to only use half or less of my smg while maintaining 50dmg so i can have half a mag just incase they get jumpy. I never ever use any mobility for travel in solos incase someone is nearby. This saving will help you if/when you need to run 😂 Mobility in the last slot is also helpful so when you use your last one, it doesn't automatically swap to a next weapon (causing you to swap to the next weapon by accident).

      USE CREATIVE! Note specific instances in game that you are not good at (such as shockwaving distances, right hand peeks, etc) and recreate them in creative with a bot or make a 2nd account with your phone to stand in for you. You can create a creative map of the current BR map (delete it when youre done until next time you want to use it if you use your own maps often, it makes loading times loooonggg). You'll notice the red X for the right hand peek is showing where the center of your shot will land. This is something I didn't know after 2k hours 😅 and helps a ton with getting used to making a strafe shot the first few hundred times before you notice other visual cues or just do it out of reflex.

      My main strat is to learn where people land and memorize the progression of the game. For instance, landing at rumble I know 1 person is going for the boss immediately, i fight the 1-2 people trying to get the heisted shotty, leave the one who landed across rumble because he will push me when im in the vault and press the person whos finishing the boss/healing from not healing before taking the boss fight. Get in the vault, guy above presses usually and I always let them think I don't know they exist. Once you hear him outside the vault you can just wait for their anxious self to come in and spray them down. I also know maybe 1 scary person landed at shattered, 1-2 people will be at frenzy by the time I get to it, 1 person will come from eclipsed only if the tower fight goes into a 3 player fight since it takes so long, and 1 person will come from relentless roughly 20-30 seconds after the tower spawns. If you choose not to approach the frenzy fight before the tower spawns, then you'll most likely get a lot of kills here if you're both patient and quick with kills and healing. I've had as many as 10 kills by the time I'm pushed away from here by storm (including the 3 bots that tend to wonder the area) but I'm also more often 3rd partied by 2 people as I'm fighting the boss or a player. Choose where you fight from carefully. This spot is surrounded by potential 3rd party players. From here I begin my pie slice tech. I know from now until the island spawns, I have as many as 4 potential enemies in my slice of them map, 1 from creeky who chooses to push rumble after I left, the one in frenzy who didn't push my massive boss fight, 1 from steamy who's only pressing 3rd party fights, 1 from shattered if they didn't push the boss fight, and they player who got pushed into either the trailer park or the jungle pyramid to the east. Timing on all of this is important as well because if you are ahead of schedule you'll notice a fight that should be happening isn't and you wind up in the middle of it so always be aware of the timing of the game. They flow very similar and the only thing to break the flow is cache placement since they can spawn far into your slice. At this point I'll note how many bot fights have occurred around me because the more bot fights, the less people around and also its a fly trap for people who kill those bots, I now know you are going to be pressing me from that direction. It's MOST IMPORTANT to this strat to NOT LET ANY PLAYERS LEAVE YOUR SLICE! They die or the rest of your game gets very different. The slice tech has worked since chapter 3 on any point of the map, you just need to relearn the cadences of players when major changes occur on the map. If it helps, land at the same place 10, 100x in a row. Not a lot changes from lobby to lobby and when it does, it usually follows its own pattern. From the tower to the cache to the island I usually steer clear of where I know players to be and try to edge near the area of bots so when the sweaty Betty of your section of the map decides to get 2 free kills, you can remove that huge worry from your end game by jumping on them with their unloaded smg and smoke them as they try to kill you with their shotgun only. By now the island spawns and I'm omw to the island to be the first up top and throw down a turret on top of the house (on the back of the peak that starts above the house door so they can't land on the back of the roof, forcing them to land either on the ground with you or the edge and you can happily chase them off/kill them. Knock out the big tree and the porch steps so you can access ziplines b4 they get up and access the roofs faster. Almost fool proof island strat. At most, when one rifts, I will jump on to the porch roof incase they try to take on the turret but usually they don't. From here, recut the pie, identify dead side and note if players are in it yet. From here to top 5, I may get 1 kill if they're in my slice of the pie. At top 5 there will be 1 or 2 aggressive players, pick one to 3rd party/sneak up on/rotate heavy to get their weak side. Now you either have 1 player who is putting on pressure or it's going to be dead silent. If there's 1 just sit back and 3rd party them for the win or if it's silent with 4 totla players left, push the closest player to you but be sure you know where the other players are so if you hear someone trying to 3rd party your fight you can already know which direction to shock out to. If there is ever only 3 people left DONT be the player who takes the first fight unless your aim is godly because that last guy has been waiting all game long to pounce on your head- let them 2 fight it out. I've let 2 circles go without a shot being fired because I didn't want to get 3rd partied. This game is a br, not tdm. It's not always about getting all the kills you can, it's about getting as many kills as you can and still win! You can use this strat to get 4 kills or 14, and start from anywhere on the map- it's about how well you can connect your shots, keep yourself on time and not let your ego push your learning experience to the side.

    One of the most helpful things I've heard from an advice video recently is about the subconscious overconfidence you get when you crack someone
    in your head you're thinking "oh, they're cracked! Now I just gotta finish them; it'll be easy" not taking into account the fact that you have another potentially 150 health to deplete before you actually win and it kinda makes you play a bit lazier.
    Stay focused and get the kill, never let your guard down or let up your offence
