fun fact: in episode 8 when they are having the beach montage, if you look rlly carefully, when nick and charlie are eating the chips/fries, you can clearly see that charlie is eating too (which is the first time we’ve seen him eat the entire show) showing that he is more comfortable around nick, so he feels more safe and less anxious to eat.

Yes, I agree the darker themes are unavoidable, but... I just finished watching S2 of "Young Royals". It reminded me of how I felt S3 of Love, Victor. I read all four of the H S series, and the subsidiary opus'( Nick and Charlie, Radio Silence,etc.) I really hope they can navigate the dark.

The fact that Nick is fluent in French is important because his dad is French/lives in France and in the graphic novels Nick’s relationship with his dad is an important plot line
I wouldn't say it's very important to the plot... it's just a cute little thing that deepens Charlie's crush on Nick.

I think that there are many more people over 20 and up to 80s that are glued to heartstopper. I always read the comments and not surprised about how many older then 20++++++++++ are commenting. i'm 32 and watched the series more than a few times with my 26yo boyfriend of 5 years.......we ordered the books, as soon as the first teasers were aired....so we knew what was coming......i hope they renew it for years to come, and have very long brakes for the actors to do other work.....

*Nick and Charlie are the main focus of this show, and they should always be the main focus for every season, just like in the graphic novels.*
I think they do an amazing job to be true to the books and explore the other characters in season 1. In the other books there is more explained about the relationship from the teacher and also elle en Tao so I think they will explore it a bit more in the serie but with the lines of the books :)
I think they can be the focus of the show while allowing other characters to grow and thrive and occasionally take the spotlight, as happens in the webtoons. The side characters add life to what could be a very basic tale.
I actually LOVE the way season 1 was written. The comics are like 95% just Charlie and Nick. The TV series on the other hand gave a much bigger spotlight to Tara, Darcy and Elle and despite their roles being more important, it never felt like it came at the detriment of Nick and Charlie. It's just perfect.
Okay Nick and charlie are my favourite couple and I absolutely adore them and their wholesome chemistry and I just hope they don't take away any screentime and emphasis from our narlie whilst attempting to give the other characters more spotlight because there are so so SOO many cute narlie moments in the third book which depict their leveling up relationship and I don't want any of those scenes taken out whilst trying to add drama but I also appreciate that they're not so focused on just nick and charlie because you can't really do that in tv shows the way you can do it in books. But having read all the four books, which are like MOSTLY focused on Nick and Charlie I'm just attached to those two and their relationship a little too much. Fingers crossed we get lots and lots of narlie moments in s2

As someone who has read the entirety of the comic that is available so far I can tell you all: *It's gonna be a ride and it will be AMAZING*
I’m happy Yasmin Finney will be returning, it seemed possible that she may not return due to her playing the new companion in doctor who, and it’ll be interesting to see if she’ll be in later seasons
Edit: never mind she’s only the companion for like three episodes she’ll be in future seasons
I can't imagine the show without Yasmin/Elle.........She is such an integral part of the show and such a bright star.
I'm sure they will find a way to make it all work.

My favorite part is when he almost tells Nick that Charlie loves him, and Charlie snatches him up and goes "NOPE" 🤣🤣🤣
During an interview, Alice addressed Ollie's character. Originally they planned to cast Ollie, but it was discovered that the logistics of having such a young actor would make things extremely difficult. They decided that they would have to omit Ollie from the series.
Yeah I'm aware, it's pretty sad tho because he would've been really funny and a great light to the show.
i really want them to show tori more , she deserved more screen time. i read solitaire and tori seems like a really great character
I think she'll be given more emphasis in season 3 which will be based off of volume 4

I am looking forward to the new season for all the reasons you highlighted, especially the mental issues that Charlie is going to go through, as I went through the same issues during my teen years. It took me much longer to get over my issues compared to the comic books.
If you have read the books then ... of course u know it's not gonna be a love dovey satisfying season , it might even have a very sad ending with charlie being taken to mental hospital 😢

I think the psych ward thing will be shown in s3 because alice has said this season will have prom and things like that along with the paris trip. So s2 is probably based off of book 3

I hope there’s more than 8 episodes (or longer episodes) so we get the chance to actually experience the comic. It’d be disappointing if they rushed things or left out important scenes. Regardless, I am beyond excited to see how they bring it to life. This series is so important 🍂🏳️🌈
RIGHT most of these scenes are so important and alice has added new plots to the story too in order to give spotlight to more characters but as someone who has read the 3rd book multiple times (it's my favourite) I hope thjey don't skip out crucial scenes and also the wholesome narlie moments we have in the books

I think one thing that video misinterprets the comic with is their relationship struggles. They don’t get into arguments until a little bit later in their relationship. The conversations that they have about Charlie’s mental health are loving and supportive and worrying. I’m not saying that the arguments later on aren’t because they are out of love, but they have a more serious tone. They don’t really argue while in Paris, Nick is mostly trying to help. 4:02
Regardless, I’m so excited for this season and I know that it’s going to be amazing and I’m so excited to see kit and joe back on screen.😊
right! most people when they say that s2 will be darker because of charlie's mental health they don't acknowledge how it's going to be just as wholesome because nick will be there to comfort him and their relationship will reach a deeper level of emotional connection when charlie actually opens up to him about his mental health. I think the arguments they refer to will happen in season 3 but in the paris trip, nick is loving, supportive and comforting so their relationship moves on to being really wholesome

If you are too excited and can't wait for season 2 I'll suggest you to read the HEARTSTOPPER book because everything that has been mentioned here included in Heartstopper book of volume 3 and 4 !!! I have already completed all the volume and the series as well and I'm so excited for the season 2 :)

Love the show. Indeed, I don't see the show as a LGBTQ themed show but as a love story but knew it would have to, given that so much time was given to "what happened last year" without being specific. Indeed, I told my husband, who is Italian (I am American but we live in Italy) that they would be looking into what happened or what brought Charlie to be so removed from himself and others (being gay myself I understand perfectly. in the USA, and I am talking about 30 years ago, one did not "go through HS"..but "survived HS"...and being gay, openly gay 30 years ago was not a treat, indeed, it was an ongoing nightmare and though I would like to believe things have gotten better, I imagine they are not so much better)....Anyway, here, in Italy, where mental illness and mental health are simply things one doesn't talk about, my husband is in denial that there is any mental health issues in the show...(he is a scientist so psych is not his fortè) ......I am glad I shall win that one though I do hope, despite their ages, that they shall be able to understand what is happening. Oh well, being young is not easy and I, for one, wouldn't want to relive that part of my life but these kids get through it without long lasting scars.

N&C don't really argue much in the comics... I'm not sure where you're getting that from. They don't really have a significant argument until the timeline of the novella, Nick and Charlie.

Why is some of the video footage mirror-reflected, i.e. left swapped with right? Even without the obviously reflected lettering of 'Heartstopper' on the book in the clip with Alice Oseman, anyone familiar with the series will easily spot that the clips from the series are mirror-reflected. Clearly no one checked this before publishing on the channel...

They don't fight in the 3rd book tho....instead their relationship actually develops a deeper bond and they get more comfortable with each other as Charlie opens up to nick about his mental health like ex- ed, anxiety, self-harm. It was nick who comforted charlie through it. And the 3rd book was darker than the first two yes but it was also just as wholesome
