also if you are suffering from an injury unrelated to a movement, the machines help you control it so you don't reinjure.
I’m 50 yrs old & have used machines for 20 yrs. No injuries. My friends who have lifted free weights have all had injuries.
Cool, so anecdotal evidence based on the couple people you know, with zero mention of other factors in your lives.
But they were a lot stronger weren’t they?? 👀
@@zalapski9399there is validity in one’s lived experience & what works for them…the findings on physical fitness & strength training are not conclusive. There’s plenty of competing theories.
@@Timothy_Himothy1not necessarily. Strength is a product of many variables & genetics are one of those. On some lifts I was stronger & others not. Strength was not my goal for lifting weights. Longevity was. If you want to be really strong, that’s a great goal. It wasn’t mine. I found lifting on machines was easier on my body & I didn’t suffer injuries.
@@aaronburgess4442Longevity was your goal and u used machines??😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Maps Machines coming soon
Due to my now beaten down body after 30 years of free weights ..I'm left with facet joint syndrome and knee pains amongst the rest of my body feeling like I've been attacked by a group of guys armed with bats ..pain is off the charts several operations later I'm told by surgeon never to lift again..well I can't do that or it's game over . aged 52 now so the way forward is machines only so I continue to lift at least and not grow old and decrepit
I was almost exclusively free weights until I broke my leg, now I use machines out of necessity but can push everything till failure
You can continue a workout routine due to an injury in an unrelated part of the body on a machine. As an example, I dislocated my knee during a sporting event once and I was told not to put strain on that leg (bending, straightening, loading) for at least a month. I kept up my upper body routines with just machines and stayed in shape through the healing process.
You need to cause some micro damage to existing muscles for the muscles to grow. Thats why free weights will build more muscle and strength in a given time frame.
Thanks this is a cool outlook
A routine of machines, free weights, calisthenics, and mobility training is the way to go.
It’s weird that so many people think exercising with weights is bad for you, and leads to injury. No, a stagnant lifestyle leads to injury. Humans are meant to do active things, like picking things up, and moving them around. Do you think God had Hammer Strength and cable machines in mind for humans to stay healthy?
And what about the ageing process ? Body breaking down older parts worn parts ..bit like a car that's done lots of miles yes ? I believe machines for older people are the way forward logically
