The more you think about it the more deliberate it seems. She's also the daughter of their 'kingdoms' ruler, the Overseer, has gone out alone on a personal quest, and fits the fish out of water trope seen in nearly every Disney princess film. She IS a Disney princess in the wasteland, and I think that was intentional with all the nods. Ironically it's even funnier if you consider that her character Jinx in Arcane was one of the few characters straight up drawn in the style of a Disney princess with the slender frame and big doe eyes made popular during Disney's 'golden age' in the 90s.

Wellll...it's a combo of things. Some creepy crawlers have a preferred hunting ground or area to cover. And then of course, sometimes things just pop up just 'cause. Some have telltale signs like having lightly phosphorescent antenna sticking up among the reeds like other reefs in the swamp.
Gulpers are from the Far Harbor DLC (designed to challenge you after you finished the main game) and they are naaaaasty. Like berserker bullfrogs. This one was relatively sedate. Usually you run away and shoot at then from a distance and keep distant and hope you have enough ammunition and good enough aim to take it out.

It's the split between his Soldier side and his Parental/Civilian side. Now in the aftermath, he has been in the soldier role for up to 200 years (since we don't have many details of his life since the bombs dropped).

Just a clarification on nomenclature. People who live in vaults are called vault dwellers. The protagonist for each game is referred to as:
    Fallout 1: The Vault Dweller
    Fallout 2: The Chosen One
    Fallout 3: The Lone Wanderer
    Fallout New Vegas: The Courier
    Fallout 4: The Sole Survivor
In Fallout 2 and Fallout New Vegas the protagonist is not a vault dweller.

I don't mean that in a bad way - it's actually really cool, and a testament to how good the show is. Because I know the different entities in the game; the Brotherhood, Vault-Tec, the Enclave, etc., that colors my impression of the characters. And that gave me some different surprises as they developed and the show threw twists at us, than what you're getting. We both get surprised, but in different ways! That's fantastic! and all of that after maximus swore to obey and got branded. no idea why ppl think maximus wasn't the one putting the razorblades in there. he skipped the line, wasn't ready for squireship, and I bet that's also partly why tidus treated him badly.

So fun fact about that music you're referring to at around the 13:48 mark when Lucy is playing around so nonchalantly with the head:
That's not just random genre music used for ironic juxtaposition, oh no. That is "Maybe" by The Ink Spots, and it was used during the intro cinematic for Fallout 1 (way back in 1997). For those of us who were fortunate enough to get into the series with that first game, that song will always be our introduction or gateway to the Fallout world. It holds a very special place in my heart, and I'm sure I'm not alone. I couldn't help but get a case of the warm 'n' fuzzies when I heard it in that scene.

Love the joke about being golden rule of the rule of the wasteland is to be sidetracked every dann time… this is the game in a nutshell and a great joke by the writers. You start out going on a mission, but Bethesda puts in all these side quests or little random locations and Easter eggs that have nothing to do with the plot but just distract you. Like stuff that’s just so random. There’s a place you can find in fallout 3 for instance that’s a giant Rube Goldberg machine made out of stuff you find in the world, all carefully set up.
