It was one of the most horrific days of my life. My husband of 24 years was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He had only months to live. We had to evacuate. It was mandatory. So, I packed clothes, medicine and medical supplies and we were on our way. To where? I had no clue. We did make it. But the worst was yet to come. Jack wanted to die at home....... he did.
When Ike came through he bent all the signs over and cut off the electricity and he blew my fence down and tore up my garage door. He tore up most of the roofs in the subdivision. I wasn't afraid of him but when he got close I left and came back the day after he hit. He broke trees off halfway to Dallas.
Im from mobile al and was visiting a friend in houston when rita was nearing. I went to beaumont to watch rita come ashore before heading back home and she was a pretty bad storm. Was at college st. and I10 service rd not sure if that rings a bell. As i drove around it may havd been in orange texas, but the Surge came pretty far inland and the winds downed a bunch of trees everywhere. Its a storm ill never forget
@@stephencarlisle2657 I lived in Beaumont at the time of Rita. I evacuated, it took me 4 hours to go from Beaumont to Lake Charles. La which is normally about 40-50 minutes. I went to Alabama and along the way I was able to see the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. When I returned to Beaumont it looked like a bomb had been dropped. The park around the corner from my apartments (Wiethering Heights Park) didn’t have one single tree that was standing. There was a tree in my living room of my 2nd story apartment. The patio was gone. I grabbed my clothes and a few personal things and left Beaumont. I stayed in Humble during hurricane Ike…was a lot of wind and my best friend lost a few trees and his privacy fence, we also were without power for 8 days…it was horrible. Then I was back in Houston during hurricane Harvey. That was horrible. Water was every where. In my life I was in at least 7 hurricane. I don’t plan on staying in one ever again.
It is, it went right by my house, it was so loud I though my family and I were gonna get possessed by ghosts, and the water, DONT get me started on the water
Gissel:That's the hurricane that my parents (Samuel and Demey.)told me when I was little.( but not as a baby or toddler.) My parents survived, i don't know how.
They are scary! I've managed to make it thru seven of them. They go on so long that each minute you think could be your last, like your roof coming off, etc.
It's very scary. I survived about 9 of them because where we live there is a lot of hurricanes. I'm the type of ride it out person so I never evacuated a hurricane before. Only if it's mandatory. So hurricanes are DEFINITELY scary but it's relieving when you hear it die down.
Lucky I live in Beaumont my self and I have experienced Harvey,Imelda,Cindy,Beta,Laura,Marco, and um I can’t get my mind on it but you lucky and sorry if short because I have short life
