BORACAY REOPENS & EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED

- Boracay Island in the Philippines was completely closed to tourists for 6 months. We were some of the first to visit during the 2018 Boracay opening and some serious changes have occurred and it feels like a totally different island. This is the new Boracay. Which island in the Philippines do you think is the next shut down?

I just came from boracay last week and that was my second time, the first time i went there was in 2013. And all i can say is thank you for your president and that brave move! You can really see the big difference. We feel more safe and at ease. The process on going to boracay feels much more smoother. For my 3 days stay i have not seen any piece of garbage on the sand or any cigarette butts. And yes you can still drink alcohol and have night party in different bars. I enjoyed my 2nd time visiting boracay than the last time. Even there where no water sports this time. I enjoyed the "NEW BORACAY". My words was not enough to express my experience.
Congratulations. ❤️🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦❤️
Thank you Leon for your comment. Our President made the right call 👊🇵🇭👊
enjoy because u enjoy the beach not because of the water sports and thats the big difference.. thanks to the president..
I am glad they manage to keep the island clean again
He closed Boracay for 6 months but helped the people affected thru alternative programs by the government.
Thank you leon 🇵🇭👊👊👊👊
Definitely looks cleaner. Hopefully the businesses are still able to thrive. I always skipped Boracay because I heard it was crowded and a bit dirty. I think I'd visit now. Maybe when I'm back in January.
Siopao adventures season 3! 😂
Highly recommend you to visit the island around next year! I think the white beach looked clean even before as well. The backbeach was terrible though.
Brendan van Son BORACAY TODAY is not crowded and goverment agency limited people or tourist inside the island
Brendan van Son
skip boracay; it is so overrated... come to daanbantayan instead ... it can get crowded during high season though!
Brendan van Son please try to visit name Subic beach in Sorsogon its from Albay...its a pink sand its very clean also😁
As a Filipino I envy tourists who visits our very own beautiful islands. Most of us don't get a chance to come, see and enjoy most of these islands. I wish I could someday visit Boracay too before I die.
Why can't you visit boracay? You use internet which is very expensive
@@sandrameselebe4072 because the fare and lodging is too expensive. And also, filipinos earn $6-8 a day. That is why it is very hard for most Filipinos who can't afford a living here than others has. Did you get it now?
Hahahah same here😂
Why go to Boracay? There are tons of amazing places all over Philippines. Why travel to Boracay when you can go somewhere else better that is closer? Crazy to think that Filipinos can't afford to enjoy their islands. I have never been anywhere cheaper (and have been the world over) (my own hotel rooms cost $5 a night which could be shared with another person). What surprised me most about Philippines is that people live on islands but don't know how to swim. Very sad. That said, never have I met a kinder and more friendly people than Filipinos.
@@shawnreed7876 I live in a city and beautiful islands are far. Even as an engineer I only manage to get a job who gives me 12,000 Pesos that's more or less 220 Dollar a month.
The closest island I've been is the island of Camiguin. It's very beautiful man I'd recommend it.
This is the peaceful Boracay I remember when I visited for the first time in April 1983 where there were no parties on the beach. In the evening we were just walking by the shore listening to the crash of the waves. The whole island had no electricity back then. It was truly zen back then. I am happy you returned back to Boracay. ♡♡♡
I was there in June '83 and recall seeing only a handful of people on the beach at any one time. About 4-5 banca's ferried people from Caticlan (maybe twice a day) and anchored directly on the beach. I also recall only three or so nipa hut style resorts on the beach, but there may have beee more, and I do believe they had electricity. No vendors. No fire dancers. Women (non-local) often went topless.
Personally, I find old Boracay pleasant to think about, but prefer the newer, more developed Boracay. For the "old Boracay" feel, there are other areas -- some quite close to Boracay -- that one could go to.
Wow
Clean beach, wide road and with limit for tourist to enter boracay, it will be a nice place to unwind
I was just there in 2014 and it was filthy dirty. Cans and bottles everywhere. Noises music at night were disturbing. But now that i just visited last week in Boracay, Wow! Just beautiful. It is the best place to enjoy and relax. It is a paradise. Philippines you guys have a great and brave PRESIDENT to even close and clean up for the island!
if we thank the president for boracay, lets also thanks him for the very high inflation. 🙄 no excuses!
stop complaining, btw anu ba naging part mo sa pag lago nang Pilipinas? pag bili ng produkto ng banyaga? hindi pag babayad ng buwis? pangunguripot? pag labas sa simpleng batas? no excuses
Yeah thanks PRESIDENT DUTERTE
@@acchris029 Dude the President is not a wizard he cant magically make everything better, there will be some some downside, but if you want something you need to prepare to sacrifice. Did your mom did not teach you that? Spoon feed all your life?

This happens to be the best and most informational account of the new Boracay. Pretty much more than what the Philippine media had reported it!!!
Now, since you are in the Philippines, are there any plans to colab with Daniel Marsh at all, considering the fact that Wil Dasovich is currently in Europe???
I can't agree more. Thank you for this video.

It seems TOTALLY CRAZY that they closed down the entire island for a while but for perfectly valid reasons. It looks absolutely breathtaking. I don't know how I feel about all of those laws and rules but it sure makes for a picturesque vacation spot!
Yes the president is a very controversial leader but one thing is for sure, he does know how to get things done!
Rules and Laws...as almost everything are getting out of hand on that island there should be a rule of law...and it meant to be followed!
Laws will benefit the public for sure. It's just that there are people who resist change so having President Duterte who has a strong political will, I am hoping for more changes. Nevertheless, may Filipinos be more open for change if we really want to truly progress.
@@lostleblanc well said dude. Yes, he is tough, but he has a good heart for the environment and for the children of the future so they can also experience Boracay at it's best.

Great you are back in the Philippines where your best work is. AWESOME summary too. The way you mentioned the people who suffered when it closed etc. shows you really care about others and did your research too. Thanks.
i sympathized with those people affected by the closure but there must be a prize to pay.
Either lose a bit now, or lose the Island forever.
i agree. he he is very informed.
those people who got affected with the closure received help from the government..they only suffered maybe for a few months but was given assistance in the following month
I went to Boracay last Oct 2019 (a year after it was re-opened), it was beautiful and stunning. I love it. But since you came too early after the island's rehabilitation there was not much to see and experience. Now, all the water activities and adventures like island hopping, snorkeling, helmet diving etc. are back. The island's night life and parties are also back. But of course there are new rules like no partying or drinking in the shore. So I think it is much better now.

I really appreciate you being the "Boracay Evangelist". Wish you feature this again by 2020 where many of those constructions you've seen should have been completed. The major roads will have bicycle lanes and greeneries so it's interesting to see how it will look by then. More great news is that, internet connection will be far better from 2019 onwards as there's a new major player now to compete the duopoly in the country's telecoms industry so you should be noticing 27 Mbps by end of 2019 and 55 Mbps of speed from 2020 onwards. There's also a planned Cable car near the soon to be completed Boracay airport (construction begins next year) and a tram/monorail on the island but that would take around 4 years to be completed where construction will begin next year. So, keep on coming back and showcase the changes happening on the island paradise. Cheers!
Wow. Interesting. If the internet is that fast I’ll definitely be back 😛
Thank you for sharing this, it’s fun to see it from a real perspective rather than just news articles! I’m taking a travel and tourism program in uni and this has been a big topic for us the past few months.
Amazing video man! I visited Boracay in 2009, and certainly had the kind of experience that you described earlier...party, super cheap, drinking everywhere, real taste of the Philipines, party (did I mention that). But so great to see these changes. We can't be spoiling these amazing locations around the world for the sake of tourism. I feel this is a really positive development, and hopefully more the more tourist heavy destinations follow suit. However, that begs the question...where's the next place we can go to experience the last vestiges of the old true backpacker destinations...before it's too late da da dum...

I think the place that needs an immediate clean-up is Manila.

Yeah
yes but if the people living there will not cooperate its useless
Haha.. you'll need a couple of years to a decade to clean up Manila
The cleaning of pasig river is quite hard cause some still throw they're garbage to the river instead of helping to clean and guard it. Quite sad that they need to hire someone to guard it instead of the people voluntarily protecting it
All Filipinos must understand this island was connected in our life🇵🇭❤💪🏾Love it in what they're did by the mission of our President Duterte. GODBLESS this land❤🇵🇭💪🏾
Wow! He's back in PH. LostLeBlanc style. Numero Uno!!!
It might've had negative impact to the businesses and people around boracay for 6months. But if it wasn't done at all, the island will *forever die* in no more than 10 years from now, which will leave all of them with nothing.
I also love the fact that we really are seeing that rules are really being implemented and this was closely monitored by the President himself, not just relying on his people.
This close down is just one of the solid proofs that if there's a will, there's a definitely a way.
VOICES IN MY HEAD It’s not all the president though. It also has something to do with all the people that actually put in all the work. But yeah, it’s WAY better than it was before.
Let's just say it's a team effort. Without the President's strong will nothing would've changed and without the people working on the ground progress wouldn't have been made.
Hell i was living there for years and it was horrible the local government officials just doesnt care! mountains of garbage hiding and some streets flood in the middle of summer!?? Ugghh without the presidents iron fist boracay will rot in 10 years... And A LOT of stupid senators as well as the media were all f*cking against it before but look at them now crawling like a pests back in boracay
goddessdaraful Hahahaha Speaking of, I remember when Bora first opened, one of the people who we're strongly against it (Bam) posted pictures of new Bora with the caption that was along the lines of (sorry I can't remember the exact line): "Help us take better care of the environment, vote LP". Everyone who saw the post were furious (including me at the time). He deleted the post like an hour or 2 later... Now I just think of it, it was a hilarious and incredibly stupid move lol 😂😂😂

very informative and great video 😍 I'm glad Boracay chose to be more environmentally friendly 💚 Many places in the Philippines need to be regulated to safeguard the very thing that makes it beautiful: nature. I have hope that this Christmas and New Year will bring in more families and visitors who want to relax. Before the change, every video I saw of Boracay couldn't convince me to go there, but now it's on the bucket list 😍
I've been to boracay in the Philippines. It's a beautiful place. I was impressed by the blue sky, the sea, the local people's enthusiasm, the lively seafood market and the delicious seafood. But what I can't forget most is the feeling of sailing in the dusk. The setting sun and sea breeze completely relax my body and mind.
I have to compliment you... you work hard on your videos and it shows. I do videos about photography so something different but since I have small kids and cannot travel right now, i truly enjoy your videos. Keep it up... nicely done and many greetings from Canada
Thank you so much.
Because sometimes Filipinos are the ones who ruin the place. Self discipline is a must when it comes to protecting the environment. Vacation is for you to relax not to party all over the place that it became annoying to the people who just want to relax, appreciate the beauty and just want to feel the nature. It matter so much to them their looks rather than the beauty of the place. It should be the other way around because that's where they get credit for. Protecting the environment while tourist can appreciate it more not just the people living in that place but whole place itself and it is more become their advantage.
They have such an awesome and a remarkable president
Unfortunately, there are those who doesn't even know a thing about him believe those lies spread around to bring him down.

Lost, just a heads up. They do the hotel accommodation registration thing because up until this moment they are still regulating the people coming in and out of Boracay and most especially they are looking if the Hotel you booked in is already a compliant of the rules and regulations that were set for all the Hotels so they could already accept guests and reopen. Anyways, Boracay needed those 6 months. Decades have passed and the local government and businesses used Boracay's resources for their own benefit. About time Boracay took a rest. President Duterte is the only president so far who is making history in the Philippines. He is absolutely the ideal president a country would love to have.
His not the only Philippine President who made history for the Philippines you know. Was there 4 days ago. Been over 30 times to Boracay and by far my favorite beach in the Philippines. Yes, there is construction everywhere and a bit hectic, but within a few months it will all come together, They have made major improvements such as adding more trees on the beach and adding trash cans on the walkway. Streets are much wider and proper drainage being installed. Saw a solar powered enclosed jeepney and expect to see more of these Vendors are still about everywhere (even children as sand castle constructors) lol. Water sports just reopened and daily more businesses are reopening. As for nightlife, I did see Pubcrawl back in business but not sure the venue, Summerplace is renovated and nice, club galaxy waiting on permit but should be open this month. You can smoke and drink but not on the beach front. Will go back in a week and stay for 2 weeks.
hey mate, any update on how it is now? keen to go back, but not if nightlife & parties etc are dead...
roger abker we checked out summertime bar right on the beach. They did a major remodel of it so much bigger, modern and cleaner. Had a great time there, good party scene. I also saw reps with pub crawl shirts so they must be doing it again. I spoke with the owners last week of December
At club galaxy. Was not open at that time but may be now. They were waiting for permits. You can check their FB page for updates. Looks like nifty fifties was under remodel, club parse was open, wave by hennan was still closed due to permits, ohm closed for remodel, Epic under remodel and if I’m not mistaken looks like cocomangas was closed or possibly demolished. Not as active as before but still not bad. By April everything should be open again and road construction mostly completed. Cheers!

Looks like they’ve made some good changes and Boracay will stay beautiful.
I visited in 2009 and back then thought it was one of the best beaches I’d ever seen. I did love sitting on the beach ordering cocktails from a lounge chair in front of my hotel so this is something I’d miss. We also had the best time bar hopping. But when we were there it was so quiet. We pretty much had every bar to ourselves. Glad I’ve already got a photo with one of the sand sculptures. Too bad they can’t build these anymore.

I just wanna share that they’ve started already with El Nido, me and my boyfriend went this April and they were implementing a no use of sunscreen in one of the island tours which means they are aware that they can be closed next. There were some videos went out after a storm that all the bottle trash went inside one of the lagoons. Its a bit sad and scary that the Government has to come to extreme measures to prove a point and close not just any islands, but tourist spots. It boils down to us people, everyone in the community, not just tourists, to coordinate and help the environment be sustainable for us and for the future. Thanks for sharing this video for everyone to know! I hope we all do our part in taking care our environment whether its your own country or not.
It's good. We need to wake up and realize this is our livelihood. You don't sh*t where you eat.
Compounds in the sunscreen was found to negatively affect coral.

This is so interesting !! My family and I have a condo in boracay so it’s cool to see what’s been taking place over there while we haven’t been able to visit for over 8 months!
I just hope the next president wont destroy what Pres Duterte had started.

Travel More! Worry Less!
I will revisit boracay on July and I am ready! Every filipino regardless of social status should visit boracay.
An administrator of El Nido indeed said on TV that they will regulate the number of tourists who can visit any island in El Nido per hour. The number of kayaks will also be reduced. I remember that one island will take in only 60 pax per hour and another 50 pax per hour. I forgot the names of the islands. Take note that he is an administrator of El Nido but not from the Department of Tourism who is the agency in charge of the clean up of tourist areas.
This is such an awesome review. Thanks we can’t wait to visit the Philippines soon❤️🦋
Looks way way better!! Positive changes!
Honestly this is the best thing that they could have ever done. I live in philippines, I love this place and is a masterpiece of nature, it really needs to be protected. I am tired of this party people every way just ruining and crashing everything just for some party. That is what clubs are meant for. Natural environments need to be preserved because once that we destroy them what are we going to do? vacations on the night club? no. party people to the night clubs and tourism to this wonderful places. I think that is great that they regulate the flow of people in every place, is a way to preserve it and to keep its magic. Overcrowded places just loose the touch that makes them unique.
The Government made the right decision to rehabilitate the whole island, kudos to the current administration👏🏼 I’m glad that you guys are back to the cleaner and beautiful Boracay.Thank you for sharing your video.
Look at that Water! JUST WOOOOW! it looks like a very huge Crystal ground that reflects into the blue sky.

salute to your informative video about boracay this definitely give me a great picture of what is boracay now
Thank you Mr President Duterte ♥️
Good... it will find its own way in finding it’s new identity... it’s for it’s own good... such a beautiful island and it needs to stay that way for generations & generations to come... good move Philippines... it’s just a new beginning and it will bounce back economically wise, once the main infrastructure problems are all done. Thanks Lost LeBlanc for the awesome Boracay update... I’ve been wondering about this since hearing about it months ago.
