Instead of one or the other, we need a small driven team that includes both of them. They both have a lot to offer.
You guys are just spending this video talking to other like minded people, instead of using your platforms to do some actual change for star wars, like stopping supporting Disney completely, and only supporting fan films and projects, that's what it takes, money away from Disney and Disney+.
@@ncard00many people stopped supporting Disney. But guess what? Nothing is changing. You’re wasting your time trying to convince others🤣🤣🤣
Dave for the ideas and Tony and team with the writing
@@jameschou888 Exactly!
I prefer Tony Gilroy, tbh
They both have their ups and downs. Andor didn’t have the best “Star Wars” feeling, but it was certainly a good show
@@teekay1122na andor had the original trilogy feel, think we just got used to the prequel feeling
@@corruptsion3725 the part that mainly didn’t feel Star Wars was Cassian’s origin. His tribe and their customs did not feel like it was in a galaxy far far away, especially since it was on an earth like planet
@@teekay1122Andor is still the best live action show
Tony Gilroy as the writer and Dave Filoni as the Director+Lore Expert
Andor portrayed the empire as an actual threat compared to Rebels which made them a joke
At least until the last episode where civilians and glorified hobos with sticks and rocks were overpowering trained gunmen and iirc there was even a stormtrooper 2
There is a confusion about this, Andor is a different subgenre, Star Wars is other, Andor is a sci-fi drama, Star Wars a space fantasy opera, both have different motifs between each other and different goals to accomplish in storytelling, and obviously different aproach to things, and all that intentionally, Andor is focused on dialogue, Star Wars in imagery and music, Andor to get shocked by the drama (thats why it feels more like earth realism), and Star Wars to feel good at the end of the day.
Dany Filroy... Somewhere between their two styles lies the answer.
Tony Gilroy 100% at least he knows what story he is telling
He just doesnt know what star wars is
@@mogyir maybe but at least andor made the empire dark and badass unlike every other sw media ( rogue one apart)
Yes, Star Wars in earth, where you can say the word "shit" like in any other earth show and where you can have 6 horns sheeps as "alien" creatures.
@@chrisval04 bro there were literal earth dogs in Tales of the Jedi
@@AgentLlamaProp Yes you´re righ, but you have plenty of alien species among humans too, there is some balance, Andor is a weird "earthy" star wars even A New hope which had not that big budget have more aliens and robots just take a look at the streets of tattooine.
Knowledge and experience of Filoni with the filmmaking and storytelling of Gilroy
Tony Gilroy. Im tired of juvenile, shallow stortylines. Filoni can help with the "mystical" aspects, though.
I think Filoni and Gilroy can co-exist. Completely agree with how the Empire is actually terrifying again opposed to being beaten into submission by native Teddy Bears. I try to enjoy SW though, the good, the bad and the ugly and let us be honest that recently there as been a lot of the latter for the franchise.
Pretty simple really, tony gilroy should write and direct and filoni should keep him on track with the lore and continuity
Filoni can barely follow the lore himself😂
Dave has kept Star Wars Alive from when Lucas sold it Lucas had faith in Dave from the very beginning hand chosen by him
Rogue One and Andor are my favorite Disney star wars. But I still want Dave in charge, Just not more woke agenda garbage. So tiresome
i respect mauler and theory but ryan i absolutely despise ngl. i would want filoni and gilroy to work with eachother but if that iant the option its gilroy coz he actually gave us great star wars
Filoni had his chance but he’s proven already he will just bow his head against what he knows his best. Loved what he’s done in the past but he’s shown recently he isn’t the future we wanted.
Why does it have to be either or? Why not have both.
Wait... that was the video? There was no substance to this whatsoever.
If Gilroy made Kenobi
MauLer had that on point…except keeping Andor but NOT Rogue One 🤨
Gilroy all day filoni should stick to kids cartoons
What are kids cartoons for you? a friendly reminder that star wars was made for a 12 years old audience and Andor was made for people who doesn't like star wars, two facts 100% real and not opinions, just the true.
MauLer is just as wrong as Theory. A good story doesn't mean it is transcendent to the fabric of fictional universe itself. I personally think Gilroy couldn't be any more loyal to Lucas' Star Wars and the universe established because he assumed the role of an auteur as Lucas did: one in which the entire project is his piece of art, the author of the piece of cinema itself. Yet unlike Rian Johnson, Gilroy maintained a loyalty to the laws and philosophy of the story Lucas had already established, that feels cohesive and in tandem with it. Andor couldn't be *more* Star Wars.
I have been thinking this for over a year. Andor in its independent, freedom, tyrannical fascism way is spot on how George Lucas viewed that side of Star Wars. Palpatine in the prequels is literally showing another to that same kinda story.
the best portrait of the empire is in the heir to the empire books and crimson empire comics and star wars legacy comics
Tony Gilroy any day, at least he can write a competent script and has a vision for the story and visuals.
They should work together
0:58 They’re literally building the parts to the Death Star in the prison that Cassian is in…
Dave with the ideas and Tony and team to write it
Gilroy should head live action projects. Filoni should be in charge of lore and animation. Favreau should be overseeing all of it
Filoni told Sam whitwhere that Star Wars should be like campfire tales. In one story this thing happesns in another version it doesnt.
So In on Vader dies in another he does not. Makes 0 sense Filoni is so stupid thinking this.
*Both!* ✨
I would say I have a huge respect for Dave filoni because of the clone wars and the other shows he’s lead. But I feel like Tony Gilroys writing is what Disney needs right now with the things SW fans have problems with in the current state of SW. And I love his writing style.
Director who made Andor or director who made Ashoka, hmmmmm tough one lol.
Tony Gilroy and it’s not even close.
OT kid and it’s my favorite work since Empire Strikes Back.
I’m not a prequels guy, even with the world building that TCW did for it. It’s just moments. Much like so much of the rest of Disney Star Wars. Just moments and clips for social media engagement at best.
It’s been down the march towards Super Hero’s of Star Wars instead of regular folks being the hero’s (a princess, a farm boy, and a scoundrel).
The hero’s get larger and larger and the world gets smaller and smaller… excluding Andor. Andor were back to regular people!
BB final season and Andor final season are the only things on Disney SW road map I’m excited about. I’d Rogue Squadron ever happens I’ll be interested in that.
Thank you Tony Gilroy!!!
I don't mind if Gilroy takes on more projects. Just as long as he has someone LIKE Filoni or Sam Witwer to remind him of the much needed Star Wars elements and lore. My main issues with Andor is that it felt like it was missing a lot of elements that makes up the world of Star Wars.
More aliens. Less earth looking guns. Biggest examples.
Gilroy might be a fantastic movie guy but he's SHIT when it comes to specific Star Wars lore.
He can have full control WITH the help of a lore master.
Aliens would just make it kid friendly anyway. It works well without them.
I like them equally. Tony saved Rogue One from being a total disaster.
Acutally, it was Gareth who did.
Tony! Andor is the best thing after rogue one since Disney bought the rights! 🥰
April Fools: It’s George Lucas
Tony, because he can hsape the world of SW. He can anamyze it, and make direction. He can recreate the world.
about forgetting what you are doing when you shape the story:
If you adapt story to the SW world - you have SOLO or you have sequels, or Book of Boba
If you blend information about the world inside of you and create story - you have prequels, Rogue One and Andor, or Mandalorian S1
If you blend the world inside of you, you make concepts, than you reshape it to match the world more, you reshape it to match other stories, you put something else as well and match it. Then you gain Rebels, Mandalorian S2 and S3, or Kenobi.
Gilroy anyday of the week lmao. Theory knows nothing about him. But then again, although I prefer Gilroy to Filoni, I still like Filoni. I think both deserve to be in charge!
I wish Lucasfilm would hire Theory as a consultant already. Why? Passion.
Such a terrible take lmao
@@QuinlanVoss.You think hiring somebody who has been a lifelong fan of the franchise, runs the internets most successful Star Wars fan page/account, makes films, defends the legacy of George Lucas SW, and understands the soul of Star Wars better than their hired directors and writers is a bad take? That’s fine by me.
@@jragonheartof you think there is only that 😂
They messed up hard
Dave Filoni truly follows in George’s footsteps. He has an incredible overarching vision, but sometimes falters on the execution of the details. He should be the sole overseer of the overarching story, while delegating the directing and scripting to talented nuts and bolts guys like Gilroy.
Disney Star Wars we keep completely in no order:
1. Rebels
2. Clone Wars Season 7
3. Tales of the Jedi
4. Rogue One
5. Andor
6. Mandalorian Season 1-2
7. Bad Batch
Don’t keep any:
1. Sequel Trilogy
2. Solo
3. Kenobi
Keep parts of:
1. Ashoka
2. Boba Fett
3. Visions
Am I missing any? If so which category do they go: “Keep Completely”, “Don’t Keep”, and “Keep Parts Of”
i dont even like andor
Tony Gilroy totally! But sadly that’s not gonna happen 😢
It's sad that fans actually rather have all Disney SW erased and remade than keep it as is and i agree. To me it's just the sequels that need to go, i am not happy with Kenobi, Boba, Mando S3 and Ahsoka, but i could live with them IF the sequels were remade and Luke done right.
Tony Gilroy 100%
Gilroy; hands down…
These guys are insufferable 😂
both...
For movies and series: Tony Gilroy. Not a fan of Filoniverse (Mando, Boba, Ahsoka + sequels + Kenobi). I also liked Solo.
Animated movies and series: Filoni. Tales, C wars and rebels.
If Ryan doesn't want more Star Wars at all, even if it is good, why the the hell does he care? It's easy to ignore it all. What a bum.
That‘s an easy one:
If it can only be one writer: Tony Gilroy by a long shot.
If it has to be Filoni: Then please let Gilroy be the script doctor. I like Filonis ideas … but he can‘t bring it to paper. In general, Filoni is a way better and more talented director than a writer.
Andor is far and away the best Star Wars in years.
Dave filoni
It’s hard to choose, one understands Star Wars but it fundamentally a terrible storyteller. The other does understand Star Wars, but is an amazing storyteller
why not both
Problem with Andor is it just isn't connected to the other series. Star Wars is more action adventure. I do appreciate Andor and thought it was good television but Mando and it don't even seem to be in the same universe. It's the Stargate Universe problem. It splits the fanbase. Honestly though I think Brad Wright would be great as an executive advisor for Dave. These Star Wars budgets are outta of control. As somebody who managed multiple series at a time. I think he would help Dave on how you can manage that. Dave I think can focus on the general vision but he needs help with all the real executive producer stuff he's bad at. Also can we get Christopher Guest as a sith that would be amazing.
If Andor “splits the fanbase” then I hope more shows and movies end up like it so it can destroy the fanbase.
Bruh 100% Tony. Dave is pretty good from time to time. But Tony all the way baby.
Tony Gilroy, 100%.
Who made the best Star Wars stuff during Disney? Gilroy. Just bc he said one thing “I forgot I was making Star Wars” doesn’t mean entirely that he’s not fit to make Star Wars. DUDE APREADY MADE ROGUE ONE AND ANDOR😂😂😂
Is SWT this biased towards Dave filoni?! He made an entire show and it bombed. Gilroys Andor didn’t do well but pardon me was I seeing it marketed to oblivion like the rest of the Disney crap they make? HE-HE-HELL NO
Dave he has been keeping the spirit alive from Lucas's vision. Interference withstanding.
NNNNNNOOOOOOO
Filoni be the guy to put star wars on the right track Trained by george lucas and he knows best in my book at least
Dave. Tony is good but he doesn't know real Star wars. He's more of a sci-fi maker then a starwars maker
1000 percent agreed. Andor doesn’t feel like ANYTHING we have seen in Star Wars before. Ex: pacing, long dialogue, all the sets look like Earth, can’t even make Corasant look correct, and zero force.
nah, not all sets look like earth @@QuinlanVoss.
No thx he made ahsoka and that show was awful
@QuinlanVoss. Gilroy hasn't been given the chance to make a star wars movie/show that deals with jedi and Sith stuff. If Dave wrote and directed stuff like Rogue One or Andor, that shit would've been boring and shallow.
@@greendusk93filoni would’ve found a way to add ahsoka
At the minute, Gilroy >
Gilroy….Filoni has not proven that he’s capable of making good live-action shows. I can’t imagine him with a movie budget….disaster.
What exactly has filoni done that’s been good? Ahsoka was hot garbage. Tony gilroy told an actual story with weight and emotion that made the whole Star Wars universe better by showing the motivation behind the rebellion and the interworkings of the empire on a level we have never seen.
Gareth Edwards saved Rogue One from Tony Gilroy's boring, drawn-out, and empty storytelling.
Let's see... Ashoka disappointing, mandalorian season 3 trash. Tony Gilroy all the way.
