- I bought some Rocketfish banana plugs from Best Buy and was initially having trouble connecting them to speaker wire. I figured out a trick to doing this that I thought I'd share with other audiophiles :-)
Fantastic video! I was so demoralized with these wires and banana plugs so much until I watched this lol. Thanks so much!!!
Glad I could help!
Dude I have been struggling for hours with those stupid brackets. Found this video and problem solved in seconds..Thanks a million!
So glad it helped!!!
Thanks. I ordered them along with speaker wire to connect my new surround system. This video helps a lot.
Worked great with a test set of four. Now that I'm familiar with them I can buy more and totally go bananas. Thanks for the help!
Great tips my bro, Cheers to your work
You're a lifesaver, thank you!
Good vid!
thoes are really cool, no cutting no soldering !
Assumption brand made here their 16g wire has the same unnecessary thick coating of cables that rocketfish itself and what I see this video show similar cable where the jacket is as thick as the conduit itself. If you have a other 16g wire like I have with normal shield thickness neither white or black collars fit. I had to fold over some strand over just to make the conduit itself grab on to something - basically using the bracket to jack the wire. I would have returned these but out of return window.
Are these recommended to use for the ends that go into the receiver as well or just the ones that go into the speakers?
If your receiver allows for it, yes. Some receivers aren't compatible with banana plugs though.
@@mattyoutubes yes it does, I will buy another set, thank you!
So should the collar not sit near the top of the cut wire or is it okay if it does?
You just need to be able to stick the pin as far as it can go into the wire casing, then the collar can be right under that.
@@mattyoutubes thank you!
Are the rocketfish banana plugs better than the locking banana plugs?
i only have experience with the Rocketfish plugs and Crutchfield's plugs. I much prefer Rocketfish.
What happens if you break it like I did?
I broke one and was still able to use it.. just pretend it's not broken and try to assemble it like in the video
My black collars are too loose on the 16 gauge wire and it causes the plugs to fall right off. Im going to try instead of loosening with pliers to tighten instead
Yeah only loosen if you can't get the collars over the wire no matter how hard you push down.
@@mattyoutubes pliers to tighten didn’t help much. I may try and get some 12 gauge. Still like a hotdog down a hallway
There should be white compression fittings for larger wire, no need to bend out the black ones.
When I tried to use one of those it wouldn't let me screw the base all the way down. I mention this at 3:20
are these rca connectors
No
@@mattyoutubes thanks
