    @6:07 you can see the power outlets underneath the armrest, same position as American's premium economy/domestic first seat

    Lajes was also the stand by for any of the Space Shuttle Flights out of Florida, for the first 120 seconds of flight, if there was an emergency. My ex was stationed on Lajes in the USAF for 12 months and told me this.

    I can always tell when you are not enjoying the flight and boarding experience. It isn’t often as most of your reviews are very positive. I think your interaction with the family explains part of it. Expectations. Most people haven’t flown as much and or haven’t had Business or First Class flights to compare this as you have. I am sure that if I had bought an economy ticket and was upgraded to first class, I would have positive things to say. Anyway, as always I enjoy and look forward to your trip reports. For me they are one of the best parts of the FR24 email.

    Wasn't Lajes Field the place where Air Transat 236 landed after that fuel leak over the Atlantic, resulting in them having to glide until reaching Azores?

    A very interesting Airline and a very interesting way to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Nice to see that you recovered fully after your adventure to fly into Terceira.🙂

    I guess that improved service quality on board mostly is the result of competition. But there is not much in terms of competition there. AFAIK the only other network carrier which operates year round is TP from LIS. A few additional routes from Europe are only active in summer.
    As far as the clapping after landing is concerned I agree that this is a reaction from people who do not fly that often. I hear it only on leisure carriers to typical tourism destinations.
    People wearing face masks are a leftover from the covid pandemic when it was mandatory all over Europe. Here in Germany I still see a few people wearing face masks on board of a plane or a train. Some of them might have been affected really hard by the virus and do not want to experience that again.

    Love the single-aisle plane videos, flying like most of us have to. Much more entertaining than wide-body, unafforadable trips. Thanks.

      If any, the difference is full service/low cost and not single aisle/wide body aircraft. All longer range flights A321neo(LR) are normally full service (Fly Dubai and other ME no frills airlines or from Iceland exempted) airlines. The focus is on longer range low density routes like PDL/East Coast and back.

    Disallowing the use of your own power banks is one of the most WTF onboard moments I've heard about in a flight review video.

    Enjoyed your outings around the Azores, the various airlines which you tried don't seem to much customer focused and they rely I guess on tourism so don't make a great effort in there product. And to cap it off you got sat next to the mask family. Good as ever Gabriel with your honest reviews 👍

    • @eysank
      @eysank 11 місяців тому

    • @NicolaW72
      @NicolaW72 11 місяців тому

      Probably the opposite: Azores Airlines don´t operate much Tourism and its subsidiary SATA not, too. Azores Airlines connects the Azores Islands with the Portuguese Mainland and New York, where many Azorians live and work. SATA is doing the inter-island-connections within the Azorian Islands. When you visit the Azores as a Tourist you use Leisure Carriers like TUI or the Portuguese Flag Carrier TAP Air Portugal, which connects you beyond Lisbon in Europe, too. Azores/ SATA is the regional Azorian Carrier for the Azorians - and you simply see, that in opposite to Iceland Air, which has a similar geographical location in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, they have not the focus on international customers.

    I'm wondering if one of the reasons for the lack of extra drinks service, is due volume that can be carried due to weight and space available onboard due to the longer range of the leg for the aircraft
    I think you are looking for wide body experience on a narrow body, with comment about tray table etc. I do think for the time being there will be a difference in product between wide and narrow bodies

    Were the power outlets not working? I fly with them all the time and they are avaliable in every seat. Just under the central armrest there's an open space on the back side there's a regular Portuguese power outlet and one USB port

      Hugo, do fly up front or in economy like most of us do? i was thinking of taking azores to out delgado to hook up with binter to the canaries. not very many reviews of the airline. i do not care about food or power outlets. i am more interested in legroom in coach and if they are on time.

    Being a professional airline critic is a luxurious but harsh job. But somebody's gotta do it. I'll just take what I get and forget about what I don't like but I guess someone has to point things out so we and the airlines can learn....was he being too harsh?. Love the videos anyway so far Gabe

    What's up with the clapping on touchdown? I expect that kind of thing if there was some emergency that the crew successfully negotiated, perhaps these Azoreans think it's a special event, landing without incident 😅

    • @GarethReecewood

      They're people that maybe fly once a year at most, so they treat every landing as a huge relief. Same in any "developing" nation

      Not everyone is a frequent flyer. I remember my first flight alone at 18 years old, I also wanted to clap because I was just stunned at how an airplane works and relieved I'm back on the ground lol. I think it's simply a genuine reaction by people who do not fly often.

    This is a very disappointing business class on transatlantic flights, seats are premium economy and food is economy. They can learn a lot from TAP , their A321neoLR are equipped with lie flat seats in business class which makes them an appropriate aircraft for transatlantic flights.

    • @luisferreira3468

      This is not a Business Class, it is a Comfort Class and it is very explicit in the airline ticket. Anyway is cheaper than flying on TAP.
