I love the croissant idea! Thanks! Baby led weaning is definitely the way to go, I watched your videos of Hayden eating when my little one was starting solids. He’s now 13 months old and a pretty good eater. Thanks for your videos
If you give soft things cut appropriately they won’t. Gagging is normal with baby led weaning and teaches them not to choke. It’s important for them to learn to eat different textures and chew, just cut them so they’re not choking hazards.
Imo it all depends on teeth. If they have molars, nothing to worry about, theyre fully capable of eating everything. But i would be lying if i said i wasnt scared to feed my son before he had his molars. Thankfully (kinda, teething constantly sucks) his came in early. He’s 15 months and has 21 out of the 22 teeth babies get.
Same. My twins are 14 months and still gag on certain foods so I cut everything tiny. My boy twin will even get choked up on the Gerber puffs sometimes and it scares me so bad that I even break those in half.
I was told to go by rule of thumb. Their esophagus is about as big as your thumb so make sure foods are soft enough to easily squish with your finger meaning they can squish or chew it with their gums easily, and make sure it’s cut up small enough so there’s room to spare for it to go down easily. My baby is 10.5 months and the size of a 6 month old so I go by rule of pinky (I’m a piano player so super skinny fingers). I know it such but watching videos of gagging vs choking were helpful to me as a FTM. That and reviewing infant CPR.
It feels like my 10 month old will NEVER reach this phase of eating. I know it comes with time and practice and each kid goes at their own pace that is right for them but it just feels like she’ll never get there with our current trajectory. That and the fact she only has two teeth and is such a messy eater. I know that’s normal too but if I don’t put the food in her mouth it doesn’t get consumed. I’m all for letting her explore as much as she wants as that’s the main objective, but at daycare she’s eating a ton of solids and according to them is just pounding down the spaghetti, chili, and more… but just doesn’t at home is just discouraging. I’ve just got a late bloomer in terms of babbling, walking, eating, and growth in general. She’s so bright and happy though and that’s what I hold on to.
Thank you!! ❤
Thank you!
you are so lucky to have this good eater baby!
