I’m a CA with 8 years post-articles experience and I can say that salaries of CAs can vary greatly depending on the employer, the position/post you occupy, industry, experience, etc. It can be anywhere between 500k p.a. and 2m+. My starting gross salary was 600k p.a. when I qualified and 8 years later it has doubled. During my 3 years of articles I was not earning much but my salary kept increasing every 6 months as I gained experience and passed board exams. In my 3rd year of articles I was already earning double what I had started with and that doubled again when I qualified. I know other CAs with the same level of experience as me who earn over 2m p.a. because they occupy different positions (same employer). I also know CAs who are execs and earn a couple of millions p.a. with huge bonuses and incentives. Apart from salaries, the CA designation offers great job prospects and you can also work abroad because the qualification is internationally recognised.

My brother is the Head of credit (senior management) for a huge company here in SA. Based on the fact that his boss made over R125 million in one year, even if he earns a quarter of that, it's still a lot of money. I can tell he earns well coz he has a huge house in probably the most expensive suburb in gauteng. Also he travels the world like it's nothing. Good job I must say.
My sister is a CA, I’m going to study a higher certificate in Economics and Management Sciences then a degree in Economics and Quantitative Management. Though I’m stuck between Business Informatics and Economics and Quantitative Management, both my brothers are on IT.. not that I’m deliberately following their shoes, but I’m the last born and my sister is the oldest then my two brothers so the influence is rather large. My dad has a degree in Geology and a qualification in Nuclear Science and Business Management. My mom had a degree in Teaching and Industrial Sociology.

Good show indeed. I saw the video of CAs, which included newly qualified CA working as a senior audit consultant, assigned to American clients. She/he is frustrated by the working hours because they are impacting family/social life. If she/he is willing, I am available to speak about their frustrations and how maybe they should be looking at the bigger picture.

I almost cried when I saw this because I am in the same situation. Working in insurance. I earn a little less than a third (31%) of what my 3 colleagues with the same qualifications and experience earn. The rest I think earn more but I cant compare myself with them, they're more experienced. But It's also visible because they drive to work and I am the only one taking a taxi to work in my department. Mind you our junior that just joined 3 months ago is also driving a German car. Sadly it's very hard to find a job that's willing to pay me the average market value. They all tell me they can only offer 15 to 20% increase on my current salary. It really hurts to see this exploitation going on like this.

It's daunting, but work doing it. Just commit to one week focusing on this. Grade 9 is the best time to do these things . 🙏

That information is publicly available. It will depend largely on the category of the municipality so there are huge variations across. Municipal CFO salaries range from around R900k for small municipalities all the way to around R3m for large municipalities.
Check out CAConnect. They offer a bridging course which is 6 months to a year in duration. You would've had to have done Fin Accounting till 2nd year in your BCom degree though.
Most accountants will not intern/article in corporate or big4 and that's ok, I ended articles on R90k per year in a small firm. 3years after I am making R1.3m per year. Just give 100% where u are and make moves when you can.
That salary of the CA that earns R1.7mil at around 11:17 is a fake one. The pension does not correlate with with that package, pension contribution cannot be that low on that package
People be thinking engineering students are better but opportunities at this point in time are very scarce for them. And on the other side I have a friend who has a CTA working for an engineering company as a financial manager at the age of 26 earning R85 000 gross per month. Ask yourself how much will this guy be earning when he becomes a chartered accountant. Chartered accountancy is just a profession but once u have it, it depends how good you are and that decides your earning potential. CAs are good with negotiating too. It a must have. I am working towards been one and with what I am getting now as a salary I have no regrets with my choice I made.
True Engineering opportunities are very scarce. I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering but working as a laboratory analyst. I don’t even want to mention how much I’m earning shame it’s a disgrace 😭. The sugar industry doesn’t pay, I so wish I was at least working in the mining or petrochemical sector

AP Controller controls the whole book (AP Book), AP Clerk does basic AP, approving invoices, loading payments, etc.

You do realise that the majority of voters are not "hefty tax payers" and this is how the ANC stays in power. They brainwash people who perhaps do not know any better and these people vote, the votes get counted and unfortunately the "hefty tax payers", no matter their race, are in the minority and just ends up having to live with the ANC again. Even our young, black educated brothers and sisters, they are the minority so it's really difficult to win against this ANC beast but people are waking up to their nonsense.
