Battery will let the side down ive tried mine full signal at nearly 7km and i had to get back fast only just made it lol...signal never lost a bar was unreal..... my air 2 was good also but this was better.
@@ninjageezer6802 The Air 2 is better if we're talking about distance (not signal) because it has a couple of minutes of flight time more than the Air 2S, I have flown up to 7.6km here in DR with mountains and the drone came back with 23% of battery, the signal wasn't good at 7km I even lost it but I would have reached 8km without any problem, Ocusync 2 is really strong too
@@designer.346 yes i agree on maybe 1.5 min of battery more in my testing,o3 is way stronger though it really makes a difference in any areas with interference...
@@muzikmon2267 believe me the signal on the air 2s is is soooo much better, I've had 2 Mavic air 2 drones and now have the air 2s ,I can fly where I was not able to before ...and as to distance no one in reality needs that kind of distance ,yes the battery is now the limiting factor but the o3 brings stronger signal in urban areas for sure ,I know I use it in this situation .

The precision landing works great for me, within inches. I think that last one would have worked except it went to critical battery emergency landing before it had the chance.

I know dji had to add the sensors in the most affordable way but I would want side sensors instead of the top. (Preferably both lol). Unless you are a camera guy it’s hard to justify buying this if you already own the mavic air 2.

As a instrument rated pilot and multiple drone flyer there are 3 things that are important to remember. 1) Always do a pre-flight checklist. Top off your batteries, prop check and viewing device optimized Etc... 2) Altitude is your friend. and finally...Trust Your Instruments.😊

I just got a Air 2S about two weeks ago, and when I tried the precision landing, it came back to exact spot every time.... as it was landing, I watched the screen, it came down to about 10 or 15 feet, slowed it's descent, and repositioned itself over landing pad, and landed perfectly. When I took off, I went up about 30 ft, hovered for about 15 seconds, and did a 360 spin on axis..... maybe it's in my takeoff procedure?
I've been flying mine for months now and it's never been off by more than 6-8 inches on the landing. The thing is amazing.

I only bought the standalone drone this time around, using all the extras from the Air 2 FMC I purchased last year. Worked out well.
At 11:50 the reason it was avoiding you so slow is that when you are in 4k60 and 5K it will not avoid, it will just stop. But in 30 FPS or lower It will avoid you, Great video as well! Thanks for covering all the details. Happy flying!

Hi dustin great video as always.i have the Air 2s and the RTH accuracy is awesome, always on the pad ,i do make sure i hover at 7 metres for a few seconds as well ,not sure why you was getting between 4 and 6 foot from the pad ,strange.the tracking so much better than my last air 2 its on another level tbh.looking forward to the range test ,im betting at full distance you will still have full signal ,the battery is the limiting factor as the o3 is awesome.
Just bought this bad boy last Wednesday, got it Thursday. Opened it up, downloaded the app on my Android, setup my account and started to do a firmware update. It failed, tried again several times changing different variables whether it be a different network, reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, using mobile data and still failing. Tried updating from a Windows PC, a Mac and my wife's iPhone, all failed. Returned to Amazon and waiting for the refund to process to buy it again. I was really excited about this drone, but not too happy with my first experience with DJI. DJI support wasn't all that helpful and actually the tech had me download a version of the DJI Assistant 2 to my PC (which I had already tried) that wasn't even compatible with this model drone. Reading Amazon reviews and a few posts on the DJI forum, this has happened to a handful of people, the firmware WILL NOT update, resulting in an expensive brick with wings lol. Thanks for this in depth video, excited to fly this drone once I buy a working one, lol

Nice review of the a2s! I did upgrade to that one, from the a2 that I'm using before, and I can just really feel the difference of both drones! It's also great that I can play with new drone tech and features on the a2s!

I just bought a new Mini 2. I chose it over the full sized Mavic series for one reason and one reason only. Battery cost. Mini 2 39 bucks each. Full sized Mavic, 150 bucks. Kinda a no-brainer to me.

That asteroid feature looks cool.I can't wait till I pick up the new Mini 2S / Mini 3
APAS doesn't work in 4k60. It also isn't working in 1080p60. It will avoid obstacles really good in 4K30. The APAS only works in resolutions up to 4K, and it only works with frame rates up to 30p.

Dustin, AWESOME video - your son was a real champ for hanging around while Dad was doing the various tests. I can see where this would be a great drone option for a UA-camr or Photographer but, $1,200.00 seems a bit HIGH for a person like me who would have to come up with some reasons why to fly it. I think if you go a little bit higher in altitude for the below tracking you may have more success with drone staying locked on the object or the person

I've had my air2s now for several weeks and I really love it, been waiting for this test, yesterday I broke out my Bebop 2 and I'll tell you that thing really holds its own, it is very fast and responsive.

Can you do a piece on master shots and how to access the cut-up version from DJI? I seem to not be able to get that option after a Master Shot.
Does the drone have to be on for that or how do you access the clip option from DJI.
I just usually download from SD card.

I'd start using a video editor app or on your computer. There are lots available and you can cut the vid where you want 🍻
Maybe increasing yaw speed in setup would help.

I'm new to flying drones and I've watched a bunch of videos. And I have to say yours is one of the most helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Appreciate you reviewing all of the features ! Question : Why do you take your phone case off ? I have no problem getting my Android phone (Samsung S9+ w/case) in the controller. Plenty of room. I have found that after doing a compass calibration on the Air 2S, you have to power off, and power on the drone in order for precision landing to hit the pad. Note also, according to the DJI Air 2S manual for Precision Landing you have to take off to a height of 7M.

Another great video Dustin! Thanks! Its interesting how often the DJI drones return to home always a few feet away. Practicing RTH with my Air 2S, took off using a tiny circle of grass surrounded by a gravel track...RTH brought it (nerve wrackingly) back to the grass, spot on, avoiding all the gravel! Phew...a pure fluke maybe!

Question: when you “Fully Charged “ the DJI battery, does it indicate 100% or 98% at the start?
I have an Air 2s and it indicates 100% for me.
@@wargnus thank you.. I charged mine, and right out of the charger it was showing 98%.. After the first flight and full recharge it’s now showing 100%.. so I believe it was just a error the first time.. thanks for the reply...

are you turning with one stick only? You are supposed to turn with two simultaneously. Forgot the name for each axis. That's why it is "slow" for you probably.

Hey Dustin, I know it's a super old video. But I got a second hand Flying 3D X8 (FY-X8) GPS QuadCopter Drone for $40! I know it's old at this point but it seemed like a good deal. I saw your initial review and read that you had some issues holding you back from making the follow-up video on your mods. Were you able to figure those out? Perhaps I just overlooked the video. You have done alot of reviews after all!
One item I am keenly interested in is a mod to increase the range. 1000 meters is the published range, but I would love to be able to upgrade it to go perhaps as far as double. If such a thing is possible. I appreciate any advice you might have. Btw, at the end of that video you mentioned trying a 5000mAh battery. I was lucky enough to find some 5200mAh ones with correct dimensions!

I wish the beeping would turn off when I turn off the obstacle avoidance. I have no beeping on my original Mavic Pro when OA is turned off but on the Air 2S and my EVO 2 Pro they both beep unless I turn off the volume. I don't like turning off the volume, with the volume off you don't hear the home point update message. Maybe I'll turn off the assisted landing.

How can APAS for Air 2S be worse than the original Mavic Air? The Mavic 2 Pro is also superior even being nearly 3 years old.
Compass calibration has no effectt on GPS location.
It has always been a smarter thing to do in letting it acquire as many satellites as possible and then paying down and back up and sure as many satelites as possible again.
The better the Home position recorded the better the return to home.
More satellite equals better home lock.
With the battery life I assume the range would probably be around the same. Mabe weather and wind difference might give a extra 1000 feet but battery will give around the same distance

I love my mavic air 2 original but I wish it had the upward sensors like the S. Its precision landing is usually spot on. You're my go to drone guy like floss is for my phones and earbuds 💯
But why don't they offer a variable aperture in this price? What do I have to do if I am in the air with this drone, it was cloudy and the sun breaks through? No motion blur, or change the ISO and introduce weird effects, or having to design a motorised variable ND filter for the drone with a seperate remote? Beautifull drone, beautifull imagery, but that fixed aperture of F 2.8 makes me want to cry, and hold my money for the mavic 3.

11:50 the apas will only work at 30fps. I'm not sure why but that's how it is.
It has to do with the processing power, the mini 3 is the same. The Mavic 3 can only do it in 4k, not the 5k its peaked out at. I would of expected DJI to at least have their flagship drone to be able to do everything at full resolution.
Just brought it can’t wait to get it out and flying hyped massive upgrade from my spark.
