- Mike Shoots Emily due to Ashley pointing out that she was bitten and finds out afterwards that the bite is not infectious and feels guilty.
Odd/Fail/No Choices Playthrough: In This playthrough I tried to capture the different choices of what happens when you don't make any choices or fail quick time events (except for some of Matt's qte). It's a mixture of bad, really bad choices and some minor good ones.
Welcome to my Until Dawn Bad Choices Walkthrough. I will attempt to make the stupidest, most selfish choices result in mine and my friend utter destruction. So sit back and enjoy the show lol. No commentary needed for my sheer stupidity lol. Enjoy!!

Written in collaboration with cult writers/directors Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, Until Dawn plunges you into a remote mountain retreat where a group of eight friends is trapped. Fear permeates the group, and dread lurks around every corner as you are not alone. Every decision matters, as each choice you make has a ripple effect that may save a life - or place someone in grave peril. Branching storylines ensure no two gameplay experiences will be the same as you carve your path to survival. Immerse yourself in the horror with the power of the Killzone Shadow Fall engine that delivers realistic visuals and edge-of-your-seat gameplay. Who will survive?
Until Dawn is designed to be replayed multiple times, as players will miss out on quite a bit of content with just a single playthrough. Each playthrough will last about ten hours in length and the game mechanics utilize a new in-game system called the "Butterfly Effect" in which any choice of action by the player may cause minor or major unforeseen consequences later on. For example, locating a weapon in an earlier chapter may allow you to pick it up down the line when a chase scene brings you back to the same room. Throughout the game, players will make difficult decisions during ethical or moral dilemmas, such as sacrificing one character to save another. The Butterfly Effect system blurs the line between right and wrong decisions and it is possible for players to keep all eight characters alive as well as having all eight of them die, allowing for many different paths and scenarios as well as offering several different endings. Until Dawn has a strict auto-save system to prevent players from reloading a previous save file to an earlier point in the game if they regret an in-game decision they have made. The only way to change your choice is to restart the game from the beginning or continue your playthrough to the end and start a new game. In a developer interview, it has been said that Until Dawn will have "hundreds of endings", but this remains unconfirmed as of yet. [2][6]
The gameplay is focused on exploration, quick-time events and discovering clues as well as making countless decisions. There is an in-game system that will keep track of all of the clues and secrets players have discovered in total, even if there are multiple playthroughs; these clues will allow the player to piece together the mysteries of Blackwood. In terms of the gameplay mechanics and theme, Until Dawn has been noted to be similar to Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

At this point, they should have stayed in the safe room and have Mike search for Matt (he doesn't know Jess is alive). Then after that we go to either Matt or Jess's pov to continue the story. That way they get more screentime and also have a plot reason to go out of the safe room. Matt and Jess try to get out of the mines and possibly go to the asylum to try to go back to the cabin, finding clues along the way. They get attacked by a wendigo and do a bunch of choices and qte.
Finally they meet up with Mike and go back to the lodge. I would add more, but I'm not planning to make a fanfic😂😂😂

Sam is the best character. When Ash and Mike are getting all worried and turning on Emily, Sam is asking if shes Ok, and is defending Emily.

Well duh, she's pretty much written to be the paragon of virtue.
Even from the start she's portrayed as the goody two shoes. The other characters were better since they subvert what they were going for. Like Mike is introduced as the asshole but you can tell as the game goes on that he's not that bad of a guy and is pretty heroic when things drop.
That's because Sam was in the tub for like two and a half hours while her friends where going through hell and back, so she is not as traumatized and paranoid as they are.
Sam is really overrated. She is responsible for more death then any other character and everyone ignores that fact (she can kill Mike, Ashley and Emily in chapter 10).
Sam and Em are definitely the top characters (for me anyway)

I find it laughable that Mike's bio says 'intelligent'. An intelligent person would wait to see any peculiar behaviour from Emily before pointing the gun. Stressful situation or not.

Jelani Dacosta Best The problem is that, as the flame thrower guy said, shooting a wendigo doesn't kill him, but only slows it down. So waiting until you see Emily turning into one of those and then shoot is generally not a smart idea.

Admittedly I wasn't super keen on Emily at first but after her escape from the wendigo I couldn't help but like her, that's fucking badass. I'm massively side-eying any players who actually decided to shoot Emily.

I realized in the book it says they can mimic people, so when Ash thought she heard talking from Jess it was actually Hannah.... interesting, so Markiplier wasn't crazy when he said "Go get Jess! Wait noo its probably a wendigo" cuz I never understood how he could have known that.

Well when Ashley reads the book like right after Mike has the option to shoot Em in the book she reads it has ALL the information and it has that in it
Here is something that still annoys me. How can Ashley tell Chris to shoot her instead of himself numerous times. Soon enough Chris points the gun at her right? Then later in the story when Chris is running to the lodge with a Wendigo chasing after him and gets to the door she doesn’t open it, letting him die. All because he pointed the gun at her. She TOLD HIM to shoot her. What kind of person is that? Ashley will remain my least favorite character.

Wonder how Mike was guilty and responsible for killing Emily. Maybe he could go to jail.
Ashley can literally cause the death of two people in this game and is never called out for it nor shows any sign of guilt (except for possibly Chris, but she seems to push the blame and act like she wasn't fully responsible for that and instead was 'paralyzed') but ah, yes, she is a sweet innocent soul and not the secret saltlord of the game.
For a bookworm, she's either ridiculously gullible or incredibly vengeful. Where Matt, Sam, Mike Chris can sacrifice themselves (in Sam and Matt's case, literally. They're heroes even in a life or death situation. Mike to some extent as well, but only once. Not to mention he's also partially responsible for Josh's death w/o clues, but he tries his best.) Ashley ends up being the deciding factor of 'hey y'all Chris or Em boutta DIE 👀' Emily is a survivalist who pushes people away to protect her own emotions, which is pretty bitchy but I'm pretty sure Matt can still survive though if the relationship isn't the best. Jess just kind of exists, and Josh, despite being responsible for this in the first place, notably tried to rig his little show up so nobody actually died. The deaths of Hannah and Beth were completely accidental on Jess/Mike/Ash/Matt/Em's parts, and ultimately lead to Hannah's own actions after the prank being revealed. But if they are to be blamed completely, Ash was a willing participant and encouraged the prank. That'd be four possible deaths on her shoulders. It's been years and I'm STILL SALTY.

Matt can leave Emily to die, but that is because his own life is at risk, and Emily doesnt die. Chris is my favorite character, so I mostly wanted Ashley to live for him since he was so into her. She's the most attractive girl imo, but she doesn't have any other redeeming qualities. As far as I remember (having played through the game like 8 times) she doesn't do anything of worth that another character could have achieved. Her death doesn't hinder the story in any way, unlike characters such as Emily or (depending on how you play) Matt.

I thought she was amazing! Her slapping Ashley is one of the most satisfying moments in the game too imo.

3. This video is only showing us this scene and the lead up to it - it's not intended as a full playthrough, just a small section to talk about. These kinds of videos bring fans of the game together to tell their opinions about the choices. Which I did.
All I'm saying is that "in my opinion" killing Emily in this moment is incredibly pointless unless you really can't stand her. The chapter before this scene is what made her a valuable asset to the team. She's also the smartest one out of all of them.

Mike leaving makes a lot more sense if you choose to shoot Emily, he's clearly terrified by what he's done and the way the other characters are reacting. He can't stand to be in there with Emily's body and the others grief.

The thing with Emily she has trust issues and build a bunch of walls because her previous relationship with Mike.(i think it was hinted Mike was cheating on her with Jess since she supposedly wasnt part of the friend group vut was there the year before).
To save Matt with Emily character you have to disagree with him a few times and he doesnt shoot the flare gun which you later can use against the windego if youre tryubg to save Emily. If you try all the way it will improve their relationship. But if you just jump right away he doesnt interact with the Windego but Emily builds a hate for him.

I hate her the most because not only was she bitchy, but she was also arrogant and put herself on a pedestal. She was controlling of both Mike and Matt. She thinks that because she's smart everyone should listen to what she says and she should get better treatment than others, but in situations with real pressure she acts the most panicked and only cares about getting herself out of there. Like she's the only one who matters. When Matt was thinking of the best way to get to Emily before she fell, she tells him "why do you question every little thing I say I am goddamn sick of it!" Lady, yelling at someone to "do something" doesn't help anyone in the situation. She expects Matt to just blindly follow her orders without thinking for himself. Honestly, I think if the roles were reversed and it was Matt hanging over a giant ravine, Emily wouldn't even consider saving him and just jump to safety immediately. People hate these kinds of characters because they're what breaks a group apart and gets others killed. She's a shitty, arrogant loose cannon who loves to play the victim when something doesn't go her way.
TL;DR Emily thinks real highly of herself and believes that she shouldn't be questioned ever and gets really offended when other people don't treat her so well when in reality she would save herself over everyone else in a heartbeat.
I've read that if Mike shot Emily and Ashley reveals the truth, then Sam's relationship status with Mike will drop to zero.

It's really sad, like, Emily just escaped the most horrible thing that was going to kill her, only to get killed by her "friend" (Mike and Ashley, not Sam) because some stupid accusations that weren't even right. I've tried to like Ashley, I really have. But every single time she gets a chance for me to like her, she fucks it up. Don't get me wrong, Mike certainly wasn't innocent here either, but Ashley was the only one who actively allowed Mike to shoot someone who she should've considered a friend. She encouraged it. The other side of me, though, somewhat gets it I guess. Ashley was stressed out, and, despite The Stranger's words (they become monsters through EATING HUMAN FLESH, NOT BITES) it was too much for her. But even then, to me, that's a flimsy defense.

She clearly wasn't turning or seemed to be in any bad shape that would indicate she was turning so there were better ways of dealing with that OBVIOUSLY. Plus I actually like Emily I don't get all the hate she gets. My least favorite character by far is in fact Ashley + Chris.

2. she's not the sole cause of their death. if you're talking about their prank, it's actually jess that is implied to have thought of and initiated the prank considering she says the she's only looking out for "her girl, em" in the beginning when sam questions the prank. otherwise, she's no more responsible than all of the others involved, including sam tbh

4. she has a strong personality, sure, but again she clearly has something against half of them. mike, her ex. jess, her friend that's dating her ex when she was the one rebuking hannah for crushing on mike. and being around them made her defensive and therefore more aggressive with matt when she felt he wasn't taking her side. otherwise, everything else was self-preservation and shock/trauma from losing matt and everything else that happened.
why is mike excused for killing emily because he was in a stressful situation but everyone hates on emily for being the way she is in a stressful and traumatic situation? people respond to trauma and stress differently. ppl with strong personalities usually get more defensive and aggressive against others. it's not uncommon.
she's not a bad character at all. that's your opinion on the TYPE of character she is. just because a character isn't "good" (according to your idea of what a "good" person is) doesn't mean they, as a character, are bad.
there's plenty of villains or morally ambiguous characters that aren't "good" but as characters, they're brilliant.
tl;dr - she had a lot of reasons for why she is the way she is. if you can make excuses and still like the others for doing the shit they did, i don't see why emily is any different, especially when she's in the same situation. even worse, she lost her boyfriend and survived against a monster only for her friends to turn against her. and she's a great character, even if she doesn't fit what a "good" person would be like.
ThatWeirdGirl Technically Jessica caused the prank that killed them. Also, Emily might have been one of the main causes but I would think its more mean to cause a prank because someone is crushing on your best friend's boyfriend then proceeding to hook up with your best friend's boyfriend once they break up.
Wow, Ashley is kind of horrible. She can get Chris killed by not opening a door. Then, she can get Emily killed by riling up Mike about a bite on Emily’s shoulder. I don’t think she ever takes the blame or feels remorse. You know, Emily gets a lot shit for being terrible, but at least she’s up front about it. She doesn’t hide the fact that she’ll hurt somebody out of pettiness but not Ashley. In my opinion, that layer of deception is worse.
Josh is "fake" too apparently. He is obviously "showing his true colors" when he tortured innocent people for revenge, right?
True, but he’s also shown to have physchosis and some weird side effects from being off of his meds. So how much of that is drugs, the inability to understand what reality is, and Josh as a whole? I don’t know. Either way, Josh isn’t exactly a peach either. I guess you don’t really know someone until you scare the pants off them.
It was a joke. Ashley has uncontrollable mental/emotional issues from PTSD so she is similar to Josh in that regard.

Post-traumatic stress disorder. Mike and Chris are also affected by it but not a severely as Ashley or Josh. In this scene they are all traumatized, paranoid and not thinking clearly. They are not acting this way just for the sake of being mean.

2 years ago but i will still reply you. Looks like nobody actually gave a shit about the journal, just to the part where says the bite is inofensive. If you CORRECTLY pay attention when reading the journal with Ash you will see that the flamerthrower guy caught all the miners wendigos and put them in the SANATORIUM and lets just remember, Mike was going to what place after almost killing Emily??? So??(yeah i know this is pretty dumbass to the girls+Chris to go after Mike, lucky he locked the door for the sanatorium).

Jess was my favorite character by the end, mostly because she suffered a lot and I felt bad for her. If a game can make me genuinely feel for a character that I didn’t like at all at first, then it’s a damn good game in my book.
Though it understandable I like how Emily is more upset at Ashley for telling her to leave than Mike for pointing a gum at her head ( In the dont shoot playthrough )

I don't get how people actually blame Ashley for this.
If Em is still alive the only reason she goes after Ash is because Mike wasn't there.
Plus the only thing Ashley really did was freak out and say she should leave, she never wanted Mike to shoot her. (Proof that her relationship with Mike goes to zero if he shot Em)
And who says Em would have died if she went out of the basement? I mean she is still in the lodge and the wendigo's weren't inside then, she could have made it.
The Cotton Candy But the fact of the matter is Ashley didn't hesitate to throwing her to the wolves at first sign of pressure. Same with Mike. Sam was the only one who asked if she was ok. More so they could have waited for symptoms. If she hadn't already turned yet then its at least a slow process they can manage if she starts showing signs. Killing somebody because of a scratch or bite is just stupid. Like they've watched too many zombie movies. It leaves and follows classic traits of horror movies and shows how they can be your demise. Take the safe path and Jessica dies. Try to use the flare gun right when you get it and Emily gets bit. Give in to zombie infection fear and Mike kills for no reason. Don't sacrifice yourself like Chris did and Ashley fucking leaves him to die later. It plays up the classic horror movies by making the smart decisions the bad ones. And the long, drawn out method the one that turns beneficial.

Actually, changing my answer slightly. I don't want Ashley to look like a bitch, and her and Christ should be a good couple who get together. So, Chris shoots himself, not Ashley, she opens the door for him, they kiss too. But, he stays behind, and Ashley is lured by the wendigo pretending to be Jessica. Then, Chris is also lured, follows her, finds her head and cries and then he is killed too. Also, Ashley wouldn't be so quick to leave him behind either. there should be like an argument and stuff with the others, debating whether to leave him or not, and maybe some more kissing with them both.

Emily strong? lol for what running? they all do that at some point! the strongest in this game is Mike, Sam and ,Chris who actually battled against the wendigo and made it out. Emily is not strong smart yes! strong? not so much no fight happened with her that showed she was strong. Ashley showed to be smart also she sealed the sewer closed to keep the wendigo at bay up top incase they found the sewer they went in. and her character only freaks out by the choices we make not just cannonically freaks out on her own.

I like Ashley. Alright? You people think that she is not badass or too whiney, but I find her the most relatable character in this game. Like, seriously, if you have a MURDEROUS KILLER and a freakin MONSTER THAT WANTS TO RIP OFF YOUR HEAD, I honestly would be like her. I know all of y'all would be completely clueless on what to do when you have those two situations coming at you when your trapped in the goddamn mountains. And not only that I should say, but Ashley is sweet and kind. She's trying her best to remain calm, but it's pretty hard to when you got things coming at you like that. In this game, it's LIFE OR DEATH! And with all this anxiety and pressure, it's just too much for the poor girl. But at least she's trying and not just trying to cause suicide and giving up. Cause I rather have a whiney character than a character giving up on life and letting those wendigos do whatever to her. So, the most REALISTIC character is awesome!!! ^^
Now, about Emily. I have to admit, I didn't like Emily at first, but after learning more about the game, she turned out to be pretty cool. You people say she's bitchy. I agree. But she adds so much more DRAMA into the game. She makes characters hate and love each other, and dadadadada. Like, without her, the drama that had her would be *poof* gone. Gonzo! Bye bye! I learned to respect that. And not even that, she is sooooo badass. Like, did you see how she escaped that Wendigo!? Epic!!! And you already know none of us are gonna be able to do that, no will we?
So can we all just respect these damn characters. Actually figure out a reason why they do this. before jumping to conclusions.

Not to mention that if their roles were reversed and it was Ash who got bitten instead, Emily would have _certainly_ been very insistent on having Ash leave the safe room as well.
