Mark no one could a better job explaining the process of ordering a new Mattress, your explanation included a detailed drawing with real world measurements. I’m glad you secured the work area and made it safe for this project to start. Your OSHA record is still perfect with no injuries. We are all glad Sue was there to keep you on task as we know you can sometimes be distracted by the complex design of an item you are working with. Your use of a complex measuring device to check all factory specifications this should be documented in all engineering journals used today. The way you ended this highly technical explanation of purchasing a mattress was over the top and the way you explained the items needed for a successful night of sleep should be noted in the national sleep foundation publications. I think Frank and Larry should be paying you some royalties for the advertisement you’re helping them with… I usually sign off with safe travels my friends, but today is special so a new quote.. I finally got eight hours of sleep. It took me three days, but whatever.

We needed to solve our expensive, chronic AIR mattress failure issues once and for all. This episode shows HOW we solved it, and the PROCESS of selecting the make & model to do it!
Ha ha, I removed our sleep number mattress and tore out all the hardware, air pump etc. and put in a similar rv king short mattress a couple of seasons ago. I felt a little guilty throwing the whole thing in the dumpster, but I just couldnt take sleeping on the inflatable any longer. Made more room to get around and under the bed for storage and so much more comfortable. Enjoyed your video.
WOW! THANK YOU!!!! I too suffered from guilt throwing all that expensive, overly complicated "space shutte" mattress stuff away as well. But as you know,.....the guilt was gone by the next night of sleep.
We did the same thing in our Entegra. The use of the sleep number bed in an RV is completely impractical in an RV. It’s kinda a gimmick that manufacturers do to out another gizmo in your coach. Very happy that we made the switch. Also makes my wife’s interior pre trip easier with not having to deflate the mattress prior to departure.
Totally agree William,........it is an example of making something expensive & complex for no reason. We should have changed this mattress out years ago.
Got a BB RV firm queen 3 years ago. Absolutely the best mattress we ever had. We bought the full size queen for home and it's much harder. Same mattress. Had to put topper on it's so hard. We sleep better in RV.
I was afraid to call the dimensions too close, so we ordered SMALL and when the mattress came EXACTLY to the size listed, we added our existing topper to the 8" mattress. That was our backup plan. We had to be certain it would not be too tall. If I was doing it over, I would order the 10" version right away and not use our old topper!
Legs feel better wearing compression socks,.........I self prescribed them to myself! Ailaka Zipper Compression Socks Medical, 15-20 mmHg Knee High Compression Socks for Men Women, Close Toe Support Socks for Varicose Veins, Edema, Recovery, Pregnant, Nurse. Size Large for me so they are NOT too tall,......about $20 as of 09-29-2024

Mark, did the air mattress rupture do a change in altitude? What sleep number setting did you have it on? We have the same mattress and have it set at 35. Thanks
Both mattresses were usually set to 65 when we forgot to deflate them. When they get ruined, it is just a small seam separation or pin hole that develops somewhere, and the mattress from then on will "leak down" in a few hours or overnight. No pops or actual blow out happens. Sue went back once and it read 100. Don't know if gage numbers goes over that value. WE DO NOT use a checklist,........that would have helped to "delay" the inevitable,..... but I hated the mattress after the first failure and am glad they are gone.

Ours failed on our 2016 DS 4369 in July of this year too. I blame passing through Flagstaff AZ in our way back from San Francisco.
It is impossible as a full timer to remember to deflate the mattress everytime. Failure is guaranteed!

Did u put the new mattress on top of the old inflatable?
No. We DID put it on top of our 1" to 7" sloped foam WEDGE that inclines the entire mattress at an angle for "acid reflux" relief.
What settings did you have your air mattress on? We have ours set at 40 and reading articles it said we will not have problems over 10,000 feet.
