It's amazing to me how they go from singing the saddest, most serious songs you'll ever hear to having the silliest, dryest humor in their stage banter. An emotional roller coaster.
I saw them play a show in a packed church once, my friend and I were just standing against the wall but we got to sit halfway through in because a couple of older ladies got so fed up with their jokes they walked out. It was so funny that these guys were singing the most devastatingly beautiful music, and then in between were so snarky and irreverent that these two ladies just couldn't handle it (Joey started to make a couple jokes about Jesus smiting him for swearing or something, I can't remember what it was exactly, but those ladies weren't having it)
I love the layers in the humor there. Kenneth saying "you couldn't give me one line?" is no doubt the scripted one line that he WAS given... Plus the "musical guests don't usually talk" after Joey has been talking a ton. These two have me laughing out loud so often.
I was at the show and at that point I saw Chris doubled over laughing in the wings. Audible at 3:12. :D These guys really endeared themselves to me with the mix of humorous banter and beautiful music.

I have this same problem.....my brain can't reconcile the beautiful music that comes from these guys with their mostly hilarious on-stage banter.
Kenneth's consistent "what the hell is joey doing" look gives me life
Haha!
The banter is reminiscent of the Smothers Brothers. Love the song and the performance!
"You wrote all of that, you couldn't give me one line?"
"Well, musical guests don't usually talk".
I love Chris' improv from the script on the prompter.
