I switched from the Titleist T150s to the Wilson CBs. I also bought the Staff wedges. Absolutely a wonderful set. Soft consistent feel and a look that motivates me to go to the course more often.
I love Wilson. I have played my best rounds in 2024 with my favorite clubs, the '76/'77 Wilson Staff blade (scared a 73 one round but we had to skip hole 10 because course was so backed up). I just bought a set of D9's for a fun change. Hit them yesterday in super windy around zero (Farenheit) conditions... can't wait till spring.
Its crazy how many people have placed this iron as the best overall or atleast in this catagory. Not sure ive ever seen anything like it. Been telling people for years dont sleep on wilson. I actually didnt love the look of these surprisingly. Something about the shape of the 7 was offputting and I usually love most players irons. Did buy the blades though as knew they were pretty forgiving for a blade. And they are and feel amazing. Love seeing wilson beat all the trendy big boys.
I play and love the ZX-7 MK II but this looks a bit more forgiving and is just as playable and soft. I think the difference comes down to sole preference. Very nice club.
I have both and only thing that messes with me is offset in zx7 Mkii. I have too stiff shaft in 24 CB and closer in zx7. Zx7 seems more forgiving to me
@@TheTurbomopar Thanks for the info! I have no idea how Srixon does it but there's definitely some special forgiveness sauce in the ZX7 recipe. Haha. I can't wait for the ZXi7. Getting them with Steelfiber i80s.
Jay, excellent in-depth review as always! You always present the most excellent data to give golfers the information they are looking for. The face heat maps were incredibly cool!
Get well soon Jay, great review and lovely iron I love my Dynapwr forged irons. Wilson in my view the most underrated brand and also offer fabulous value as you say not cheap but sensibly priced.
Yeah the old marketing teams hate me calling things cheap 🤣🤣 well luckily no one controls what I say and being independent I can be honest with anything and everything I test 😊👍
Not sure if the 45 degree route will be sufficient to get me through a review. I've got the Cobra DS Adapt Irons review to film so will need to get that done and ready for embargo day.... Fingers crossed 🤞👍
Hi Jay, great shout out to Wilson! I’m in between the 0317 CB which you also liked and this one… what differences do you see? It seems easier to blend the PXG with the T etc… 🙏
I still have the 2021 CB. Got them for 350€ and fitted them myself. They are absolutely fantastic albeit a bit more difficult for me to produce low cut with the CB compared to my previous MP100 (MP33). Any idea why that is?
This is definitely a sexy iron. Just something about it. From your reviews, I am going to test clubs I wouldn’t have normally tried. Your reviews have just been such an eye opening experience. I would love for you to go into depth about different shafts, as really think it is hard to find a fitter that really knows how to fit shafts.
I’m probably going to recommend the Mizuno 243 and Ping i230s to my buddy based on your reviews Jay! Wish Titleist would play ball so we could see about the T100/150
Makes the i230 even more impressive that it's 41% more forgiving than average as a player's iron. Although, the Wilson looks better, and I'd guess it feels better as well. Hope the knee feels better. Good news is there shouldn't be a lot of club releases coming up...

Gold access gives access to all the above plus really exciting Self Fitting Tools where you can see how all the clubs will likely perform in comparison for distance, peak heights etc. Also other features too.. 👍
I play the 2019 staff blade model and love them. Don’t seem to have many fitters in Europe (continental) (can’t find any in the UK no list available but sure they are some) but wonder if a combo of blades, CB and maybe a dynapower forged as a driving iron would not be awesome haha
Absolutely, that's the way I would go with the set composition. Well I'd go hybrid rather than driving iron as I love a bit of roll and bulge on the longer stuff to help with the odd off centre ones 😊
Wilson has always produced quality irons. I played the v6 and cb's in college. Nearly every company makes good irons so your choices are in many budgets. Around 15 companies make a good product.
Similar problem hit me last August. Slowly getting better due to enforcing the surrounding muscles. It can be ankle or pelvis causing the whole thing, but who knows. Speedy recovery!
Wowsers, I hope its not that long an injury although it's not soft tissue so it'll likely be a more delicate recovery... May well have to do 2 reviews of the upcoming irons... An introduction one and swinging at slower speed and then the full on in depth forgiveness testing with heat maps etc when it feels better 👍
@@AskGolfNut Opening the lead foot is a no-brainer as long as you don't have walk long distances. Using various kind of supporting devices might help too, to take away the excessive pressure. Hitting the gym for training the muscle groups near the knee will certainly help too. To my big surprise I noticed that the muscles on left shin and thigh were weaker than in the right leg. That might have something to do with the problem. In Winter time vitamin D, Omega3 and magnesium, are in order. The knee is now better but I haven't hit a ball in three weeks - snow helps a lot. Jay..Thanks for this review.. I have been looking at the Mizuno 245 irons. How would you rate these Wilson CB up against the Mizuno 245 irons??? The nearest store for me to test these irons in in Las Vages and 120 miles away..Thanks...
Wow yep that's a trip. They are very different irons at very different lofts. Depending on your speed I'd personally air towards the CBs, although if you are looking for something with a bit more of a powerful design and technology package then the 245s have that in spades 👍
Honestly I haven't tested the D9s to see how consistent they are against the CBs. Well worth a test for you to see how big a difference there is between them 👍
Played a number of rounds with the CBs and the dynapower forged. Liked the CBs in the short irons but found dynapower forged so much easier to hit when it came to 5,6,7,8 irons. Ended up with dynapower forged 6-gw and 54/58 Wilson xm wedges. No regrets. play off 7
Thanks for the reviews on this. Definitely will be my next iron. My current set is 20 years old, so I'm due. Question: will you review the new Bridgestones though?
CB 😊 8 iron down the 243 and CB are basically identical. If you balance the more tech inspired composition of the 243 the feel changes in the mid to long irons where the CBs stay the, same as the tech doesn't really change only CG location 👍
About your knee, not sure what caused the issue. However, be aware that people of any age can begin to get wear and tear on the two meniscus discs. You don't have to have a traumatic injury from football, skiing or soccer, or a car crash. Get an MRI. Therapy exercises and some rest can restore movement. Don't jump right into arthroscopic surgery except for those major traumatic cases. That can produce tissue loss that will alter stride and balance between legs and lead to future problems. I had sudden swelling of the right knee earlier this year and found a small tear on one side and a flap on the other. Had developed over time. They used to recommend surgery for older folks but now try to avoid it if at all possible because losing meniscus pad tissue can lead to erosion of articular cartilage that covers the knee joints and bone on bone arthritis. So the idea is to keep as much meniscus tissue as possible. Did therapy for several weeks. Swelling and pain went away.
Thanks John. Currently it's a first it's ever happened kind of injury.... May, well be just one of those little niggles that go away. More so an issue due to the timing with all the media samples that need reviewing and at present... I can't swing really at all or at least I will have to swing much much slower and use little to no ground force. I've got the Cobra DS Adapt Irons review to be done and released on 16th Dec... Really wanted to get the old vs new of the DS Adapt vs Darkspeed Irons compare review also.... Although that could be done via talking head video I guess and refer to my previous videos during discussion of the relative irons.... We'll see, no massive alarm bells just as yet but still, I'm patiently waiting to wake up and it feel fine again..... 😊
@@AskGolfNut If it wasn't caused by an external blow to the knee or by bumping against something, it could well be wear and tear on the meniscus pads from the stresses placed on the joint by turning and pushing up against the ground.
