  • Same hill, 2 totally different setups.
    Gen 4 : IFS, IRS, traction, stock tyres and suspension.
    Gen 2 : IFS, solid rear, no traction, big lift, big tyres.
    Both made it up the hill with ease, which do you prefer?

    I own a gen 2 SR nd a GEN 3 LIMITED but installed a locker on that and then put in torsion LSDs on the front of both!

    Can i ask man.
    I have a terrycan. I think its based on a gen2. But I don't know if modifications are worth it. Clearance wise, she is pretty low, and the fuel tank is about as low/flush as the diff. 30" tyres are the legal max in NSW. 32" would fit (not sure how it would effect steering lock).
    i can get a chinese e-locker for it for sub 1k and was thinking of doing that.
    And also looking at making a hidden winch setup (bout 1k).
    With winding up/indexing the torsion and adding taller springs in the back. I wonder if in this case it would only be slightly equal to an asthetic change. And add no benifit capability wise .

      Correct. Terracan is very similar. Suspension lift will lift the tank as its body mounted. But only bigger tyres will raise the diffs. Depending on the terrain you do you don’t need massive lift. I mainly do Rock crawling so need the clearance. A locker definitely helps. I have factory rear air locker and auto locker front. The auto locker is hard work on sand but you get used to it.

      @@PERTHSCOOTER07 Thanks for sharin your knowledge again. places like frazer are where i would love to take the family. So i think i will look at tackling a basic suspension lift. and an e-locker.
      Much appreciated.

    On the Gen 2 is sway bars connected? Or disconnected? It’s flexes very nice

      It still has the front sway bar. The rear is removed.

    How do you get that much flex/droop in the front IFS?! Is it just the 2 inch body lift or do you also have a suspension lift as well?
    Do you have low profile bump stops and longer front shocks? Also what size tires?

    • @PERTHSCOOTER07
      @PERTHSCOOTER07  Рік тому +2

      Hi there. I have 2” body lift and 2” suspension lift. I’ve had to fully remove the upper droop stops to gain back some down travel

      @@PERTHSCOOTER07 That's the one thing this vehicle suffers from and isn't really easily remedied. Have your CV axles held up? I would like to fit 33's that don't rub on full compression so I will need some form of lift. I guess that's one advantage the body lift has as it doesn't alter the up or down travel of the suspension. Do you know the total travel NLs have in the front, 7"?

      @PERTHSCOOTER07  Рік тому +2

      @@on1ytheb3st I’m not sure as for the total travel I’ve never measured it. I know the factory length shocks are ok unless you run flipped and spaced ball joints. The car has 33’s in this video but normally runs 35’s. I have manual locking hubs to relieve the cv’s of wear and tear

      @@PERTHSCOOTER07 Cheers for the info man! I’m guessing the flipped ball joint mod will make those CVs at an even more stark angle leading to a higher likelihood of failure. Do you think I would need much of a lift if I were to run 255/85r16 on the NL? I’m talking no rubbing at full compression and full lock; I’d definitely remove the mudflaps but besides that I’m curious.

      @@on1ytheb3st the NL will take a decent size tyre on limited lift. The width and offset of the wheels plays a big part. I generally run 16x8 -22
