Copart is definitely a risky place to buy cars if not mechanically inclined. Usually cars destined for copart are accident, flood or in this case internally damaged engine cars. Stuff that wouldn't make it onto a used car dealers lot without a lot of work, and a lot of cars without clean titles (which Turo won't allow). I would say if buying from auction is the preferred method I would see about gaining access to a Manheim or similar auction house where they sell green-light cars, meaning there is somewhat of a warranty post sale in the event something like this happens you are able to bring it back. Of course, FB marketplace or I would say repo/tow yard auctions may be a good move too, having to buy a key for a car that is missing one is a gamble but it may pay off. As long as the miles are good, looked like the car purchased was at 120k, turo shows 130k max mileage so this car may have only been in service for a year at most before needed to be retired. Not a turo expert but my 2¢
