Thank you for the review. I was about to buy 2 BOYA BY-WM6 units but now I am in doubt.... of 2 of them or 1 BOYA BY-WM8. In both case I would plug the receiver(s) in my Zoom H5 recorder. What do you think is the best option? I do not always use 2 microphones. Do you think it would be better to have really 2 separate channels using 2 different sets as it seems that the BOYA BY-WM8 mixes the stereo together (not sure about this). Would 2 BOYA BY-WM6 interfere although in different channels? Last question, these come with Omni directional microphones, wouldn't it be better to have cardio type microphones? thank you, I look forward to your answer.
Hi Eric. 1. Two separate channels give you possibility to balance levels and make corrections in post for each mic/person. Sometimes I used ONE - channel Sennhiser system with DUAL lavalier mic. But I needed put them more accurate: one mic was closer to "quiter" person, another mic - further out from "louder" speaker. Results were acceptable. Hey there, so does it mean the WM8 records the 2 mics in a single layer channel? I'm just worried that I can't adjust the individual mic levels in post later.. I'm also in doubt should I get 2 units of the WM6 or just get the WM8..
Hi Eric, I can not check if two WM-6 sets will interfere or not. Well.... 48 channels have to be OK. I think this choise is good for You, for You gonna use 1 mic set more frequent. On top of this WM-6 receiver is smaller. Sorry, I do not have PRO K2 version. Depends on sensitivity and on the noice floor of your recorder. But I think the idea to set transmitter to highest level is reasonable. All depends on budget. Honestly: I´d go for Sony URX-P03D Check please Curtis Judd´s video: ua-cam.com/video/bFUuGu4g5KU/v-deo.html Having less in my pocket, I´d go for Boya, but with more advanced mics JK Mic-J 044 ( amzn.to/JxqWmV ) sounds better then Boya kit lav mics, imo. I did never had the lack to play with any of Saramonic systems. Both BOYA BY-WM8 system I tested are coming directly from original manufacturer. first one was not a serial product, but a test system, second (tuned/advanced version) is the only serial product. A very good review, thank you. No doubt, the Sennheiser sounds better for me. Of course it`s much more expensive. But the Boya system pared with the Sennheiser is really interesting.
Valdemar, how is the battery life, I've heard a horror story about only getting 15 minutes out of this system. Have you had any other issues like parts falling apart and breaking?
The declared battery life is 6 hours. I used this very system up to 4 hours of constant run and batteries were not empty. I did not have any problems with this set (please pay attention it it not Boya WM8 Pro K2 version). Ones I tested PRO K2 an it drained batteries much faster. To be honest - I liked this first version more than PRO K2.

The Sennhiser microphone has a better high end with the crisp bright sound. But the Boya mic is good enough. This was a very good outdoor test. But it would've been better if you had another person 5 feet away from you to hear if any "mic bleed" from the omni-directional microphones caused any pre-echo that could wreck the sound.

Ужасный уровень шумов, причем на пиках голоса появляется дополнительный шум который убрать уже просто невозможно (по крайней мере я не звукарь, не представляю как это сделать). Hello friend, I'm a beginner in this world of microphones. I'm looking for a wireless microphone to use more on cell phones and from what I noticed the Boya models are very cost-effective. However, I saw that there are other models from Boya that are older and that looked very good too and I wanted to know what is more worth buying today. For example: Among Boya BY WM4 PRO 2, Boya BY WM Mark II, Boya BY WM6 and Boya BY WM M8, which of these would you indicate more for the cost benefit to me that I will use to make homemade recordings, for trips, nothing professional.. ? I understand that Wm6 and Wm8 because they are UHF tend to have a better transmission / reception in the signal, but the others are very distant around quality? I just purchased this mic and I am having with a huge problem. The problem is when I try to go far from my phone or camera. It's doesn't record any voice. Just more than 5 meters. What I should do ? I have tried with many channels and only on channel 48 I can record clear voice. Volume is full but the problem is less sound and after 5 meters no sound records
Hi Val, I found your video very good and helpful. I have an issue and wonder if I've missed something. I purchased my set recently and have set it up as stereo. Here is my dilemma. Setting it up as stereo, I wanted to be able to monitor both of the inputs seperately from two different talents. Therefore, if they speak at the same time, I can seperate them in post. Here is my problem; after setting up my system, I plug my headphones into the receiver and sure enough each transmitter I hear from the left or right channel. However, as soon as I plug in the XLR output cable into the receivers line out, I now hear one channel going through the left and right. Also, when I plug in the 3.5mm mini plug cable instead (with my headphones still plugged into the receiver), I can hear the left and right seperately. But, when I then plug the other end of the mini plug into a mixer, camera or device, either laveller mikes now go through the left and right channels. i.e. mono. Am I doing something wrong? Im really disappointed with this mics I bought 2 and both have serious issues.... cut in audio signal, lot of noises... crash and loss of signal, etc i had like 3 sessions and try 13 different channels.... in all i have noises and interruption in the sound In the best case I had to make 3 re recirdings in a lees than 12 min clip all my recordings was done in a studio wiyh no other radio signals, less than 12 ft away from receptor.... and the worst is that i have a lot of noise at the end of each frase.... no way this mics can , with senheizer!!!! 99% of lavalier microphones are condenser mics. All condendenser microphones are most sensitive to background noise. Hi, this unit does not record. It can be connected to camcorder, DSLR or to sound recorder. Put your receiver and camcoder (or recorder) to stereo mode. Stereo will be recorded on yor device. There will be 2 sondtracks on your editing programs timeline: LEFT & RIGHT. Now You are free to do what ever You want with this 2 separate files.
One more thing: Your camera or sound recorder must have 3,5mm mini-jack or XLR slot. Cheaper devises are not provided with external line/microphone slot.

Thx a lot. This test is done next to to TV studio full of wireless units. Most of sources are not longer then 20 meters from receiver. Most of the wireless CCTV cameras in local malls running on 2,4 MHz, therefor they can not interfere with this BOYA set, it runs on 584 - 608 MHz. BTW, soon I´ll try to make tests of new, more advanced version of BY WM-8 (frequency range 68 - 599 MHz). And I will check it in some radio - "polluted" places in wich I had have troubles even with Sennhiser G3 systems. Outgoing signal is dial. Turn on "stereo mode" on your camera (recorder). Now You have 2 channels, that can be edited in post (or controlled in recorder) separately.

Hi Valdemar, thank you for another great review! When you switched from the studio mic to the radio system, there is a significant hissing sound accompanying the speech. Do you have any idea what it is caused by? The same problem with the WM-6 system.
+Pavel Suchkov Hi Pavel. Did You mean the change on 5:20 ? If so: There are number of things, street ambience, systems personal white noise and the wind. The ambient sound can be partly reduced by choosing lavalier mic. I did notice small difference between kit mic and Senny ME2. It feels like ME2 catch sound from shorter distance and it "cut off" more ambience better. The hiss reduction is complicated thing that include automatic freqv. adjustment, filtration, shielding, preamp system, static electricity reduction etc. Honestly: I do not believe one can find technical solution to reach 2-3 K USD Lectrosonics sound for 10 times lower money. Still, I like WM6 & WM8 as the tool, that make true wireless speech cheap and possible. But why is it not noticeable while the talent is silent? Also I don't think that sennheiser radio systems have this problem and some of them are much cheaper than $2-3K :)
+Pavel Suchkov I just listened to the speak carefully. And I see what You mean. I sent this question to BOYA; and they replied: "We will let our engineers to check it." As far I can see, they working on final adjustements. I will make more tests in order to discover the source of "jumpy" hiss. Do not think it comes from camera preamp, but, nevertheless, will try with other camera or recorder. Sennhiser´s signal-to-noise ratio is definately better, but I had number of jokes even with new 630 USD EW G3 version. Some call it ENTRY LEVEL system ;o). For this I mentioned most expensive systems. Thank You for feed-back. It motivates manufacturer to polish the product.
@@rayhanyulanda I do not know any portable wireless system that have more than 2 microphones. When I have to record many people, I connect number of wireless mics to the sound mixer.

Всё зависит от ваших целей. Для кино, даже для документалки ниже "Сеньки" или "Соньки" я бы ничего не брал. И петличку бы вешал Sanken COS11D. Далее о микрофонах для ТВ, событий, презентаций. Для самостоятельных репортажей я иногда беру свою БОЙЮ, хотя на канале предписано пользоваться Сеннхайзерами. Разницы никто пока не обнаружил. (если его частоты соответствуют разрешённым частотам в вашем регионе). Столь же хороший из не самых дорогих - Sony UWPD11/42. Не пришло уведомление чегото о вашем сообщении, в том и печаль что тут идет в аналоге перелача голоса, наводки, паразитки и прочая фигня часто омрачает жизнь, данная система привлекла тем что, 2 передатчика тобиш можно омикрафонить 2 человека, или омикраофнить петличкой и обычным микрафоном к примеру тобиш достаточно гибкая получается система, но блин получается прождал уже как 2 месяца, но нишиша информации, система нужна какбы есть хош ну иногда чисто любительски снимаю какието моменты, покупать проводную петлю и совать в камеру, както не сильно нравится, как животное на поводке себя ощущаю, покупать чтото ну непотребно дорогое для некоммерческого использования карман не позволяет. Вот и привлекла внимание эта система и ценник вполне демократичный и 2 передатчика, тоесть в использование очень гибкая получается. Смотрю еще на али да и амазоне появились боя но завется MOVO внешне блинецы братья ))) Вот еще поглядываю на родэ но там чегото вообще все темно, вроди цыфра все ок супер но блин не видно в продаже в моей местности отдельно передатчиков , да и както в инете не сильно нарыл, хоят как понял приемыш может работать с группой. в общем легкий тупичек )))

I use 10 pairs of battery in a receiver per day. The receiver battery consumption is too frustrating

I did never try it. This very BOYA set has only TRS - mini jack; but sellphones must have TRRS - mini jack connectors.

Valdemar, how is the battery life, I've heard a horror story about only getting 15 minutes out of this system. Have
you had any other issues like parts falling apart and breaking?
The declared battery life is 6 hours. I used this very system up to 4 hours of constant run and batteries were not empty. I did not have any problems with this set (please pay attention it it not Boya WM8 Pro K2 version). Ones I tested PRO K2 an it drained batteries much faster. To be honest - I liked this first version more than PRO K2.

The Sennhiser microphone has a better high end with the crisp bright sound. But the Boya mic is good enough.
This was a very good outdoor test. But it would've been better if you had another person 5 feet away from you
to hear if any "mic bleed" from the omni-directional microphones caused any pre-echo that could wreck the sound.

Ужасный уровень шумов, причем на пиках голоса появляется дополнительный шум который убрать уже просто невозможно (по крайней мере я не звукарь, не представляю как это сделать). Для блогов или любительских видео сгодится может, но для более серьезных 100% не подходит.

Hello friend, I'm a beginner in this world of microphones. I'm looking for a wireless microphone to use more on cell phones and from what I noticed the Boya models are very cost-effective. However, I saw that there are other models from Boya that are older and that looked very good too and I wanted to know what is more worth buying today. I have tried with many channels and only on channel 48 I can record clear voice. Volume is full but the problem is less sound and after 5 meters no sound records

Hi Val, I found your video very good and helpful. I have an issue and wonder if I've missed something. I purchased my set recently and have set it up as stereo. Here is my dilemma. Setting it up as stereo, I wanted to be able to monitor both of the inputs seperately from two different talents. Therefore, if they speak at the same time, I can seperate them in post. Here is my problem; after setting up my system, I plug my headphones into the receiver and sure enough each transmitter I hear from the left or right channel. However, as soon as I plug in the XLR output cable into the receivers line out, I now hear one channel going through the left and right. Also, when I plug in the 3.5mm mini plug cable instead (with my headphones still plugged into the receiver), I can hear the left and right seperately. But, when I then plug the other end of the mini plug into a mixer, camera or device, either laveller mikes now go through the left and right channels. i.e. mono. Am I doing something wrong? I really need the channels going through the left and right seperately. Hope you can help.

Anyone can help me how to pair transmitter and reciever. In my boya BY-WM6 cannot pair with any channel, the reciever LED light is on, the transmitter LED is always blinking.

What cable do i use to connect to a zoom H4N to get 2 seperate channels recorded and which input to the zoom H4N ? What situation is appropriate forthe mono A and mono B ? As of now I use stereo mode on BY m8 in to camera audio and split the audio in to post in premiere.

Im really disappointed with this mics I bought 2 and both have serious issues.... cut in audio signal, lot of noises... crash and loss of signal, etc i had like 3 sessions and try 13 different channels.... in all i have noises and interruption in the sound In the best case I had to make 3 re recirdings in a lees than 12 min clip all my recordings was done in a studio wiyh no other radio signals, less than 12 ft away from receptor.... and the worst is that i have a lot of noise at the end of each frase.... no way this mics can , with senheizer!!!! 99% of lavalier microphones are condenser mics. All condendenser microphones are most sensitive to background noise. Therefor:
1 - one have to put lapel mic as close as possible to speaker, and one have to screw down the level on transmitter.
2 - choose less nosy lokation for shooting.
3 - use dynamic microphone 9:10

Hi, this unit does not record. It can be connected to camcorder, DSLR or to sound recorder.
Put your receiver and camcoder (or recorder) to stereo mode. Stereo will be recorded on yor device. There will be 2 sondtracks on your editing programs timeline: LEFT & RIGHT. Now You are free to do what ever You want with this 2 separate files.
One more thing: Your camera or sound recorder must have 3,5mm mini-jack or XLR slot. Cheaper devises are not provided with external line/microphone slot.

This test is done next to to TV studio full of wireless units. Most of sources are not longer then 20 meters from receiver. Most of the wireless CCTV cameras in local malls running on 2,4 MHz, therefor they can not interfere with this BOYA set, it runs on 584 - 608 MHz.
BTW, soon I´ll try to make tests of new, more advanced version of BY WM-8 (frequency range 68 - 599 MHz). And I will check it in some radio - "polluted" places in wich I had have troubles even with Sennhiser G3 systems.

Hi Josh, sorry for been late. Press the "SET" button first, than adjust the level. If it doesn't work, then it looks like one of your transmitters is broken.

Hi Valdemar, thank you for another great review! When you switched from the studio mic to the radio system, there is a significant hissing sound accompanying the speech. Do you have any idea what it is caused by? The same problem with the WM-6 system.
+Pavel Suchkov Hi Pavel. Did You mean the change on 5:20 ? If so: There are number of things, street ambience, systems personal white noise and the wind.
The ambient sound can be partly reduced by choosing lavalier mic. I did notice small difference between kit mic and Senny ME2. It feels like ME2 catch sound from shorter distance and it "cut off" more ambience better.
The hiss reduction is complicated thing that include automatic freqv. adjustment, filtration, shielding, preamp system, static electricity reduction etc.
Honestly: I do not believe one can find technical solution to reach 2-3 K USD Lectrosonics sound for 10 times lower money. Still, I like WM6 & WM8 as the tool, that make true wireless speech cheap and possible.

But why is it not noticeable while the talent is silent? Also I don't think that sennheiser radio systems have this problem and some of them are much cheaper than $2-3K :)

I sent this question to BOYA; and they replied: "We will let our engineers to check it." As far I can see, they working on final adjustements.
I will make more tests in order to discover the source of "jumpy" hiss. Do not think it comes from camera preamp, but, nevertheless, will try with other camera or recorder.
Sennhiser´s signal-to-noise ratio is definately better, but I had number of jokes even with new 630 USD EW G3 version. Some call it ENTRY LEVEL system ;o). For this I mentioned most expensive systems.

Вот и возникает ощущении некой лотореи за собственные деньги. Стоит этот набор покупать и как его качество с другими системами если вы разумеется обладаете такой сравнительной информацией.
Всё зависит от ваших целей.
Для кино, даже для документалки ниже "Сеньки" или "Соньки" я бы ничего не брал. И петличку бы вешал Sanken COS11D.
Далее о микрофонах для ТВ, событий, презентаций.
Для самостоятельных репортажей я иногда беру свою БОЙЮ, хотя на канале предписано пользоваться Сеннхайзерами. Разницы никто пока не обнаружил.

Сеннхайзер EW100, конечно же, великолепный прибор. (если его частоты соответствуют разрешённым частотам в вашем регионе). Столь же хороший из не самых дорогих - Sony UWPD11/42.
Среди более дешёвых и работоспособных я знаю только БОЙЯ, РОДЭ-ЛИНК и САРАМОНИК. Два последних мне в руки не попадались, но отзывы тоже хорошие. AZDEN как-то не греет.

Не пришло уведомление чегото о вашем сообщении, в том и печаль что тут идет в аналоге перелача голоса, наводки, паразитки и прочая фигня часто омрачает жизнь, данная система привлекла тем что, 2 передатчика тобиш можно омикрафонить 2 человека, или омикраофнить петличкой и обычным микрафоном к примеру тобиш достаточно гибкая получается система, но блин получается прождал уже как 2 месяца, но нишиша информации, система нужна какбы есть хош ну иногда чисто любительски снимаю какието моменты, покупать проводную петлю и совать в камеру, както не сильно нравится, как животное на поводке себя ощущаю, покупать чтото ну непотребно дорогое для некоммерческого использования карман не позволяет. Вот и привлекла внимание эта система и ценник вполне демократичный и 2 передатчика, тоесть в использование очень гибкая получается. Смотрю еще на али да и амазоне появились боя но завется MOVO внешне блинецы братья ))) Вот еще поглядываю на родэ но там чегото вообще все темно, вроди цыфра все ок супер но блин не видно в продаже в моей местности отдельно передатчиков , да и както в инете не сильно нарыл, хоят как понял приемыш может работать с группой. в общем легкий тупичек )))
