I watched all 3 of these movies for the first time last night and when Newt died I CRIED. He was my favorite character (it's always my favorites that end up dying...) and the ONE person in the movie I didn't want to die. I haven't read the books but now I do kinda want to. I didn't ship Newt and Thomas at first but given the evidence I've seen from other people commenting direct quotes from the books and pointing out specific things in the movie, I can totally see why the ship is popular. It does seem like Newt really loved Thomas. And according to the books it seemed like Thomas at least cared a lot for Newt, if he wasn't in love with him too. Now I'm just wondering how his feelings for Teresa came into all this, but maybe I just have to read the books to understand. They do make a really cute couple (Thomas and Newt I mean, I came to hate Teresa by the end of the movies)
