You know, most people would react poorly to their favourite shows trying to tie everything up in just two minutes, thinking that the writers gave up and didn't care.
Pushing Daisies, being the magical story that it is, rushed most of the unfinished plot threads in two minutes, but not because they didn't care: quite the contrary, it's because they did, and wanted to give their fans the promise that, no matter the future of the series, their beloved character's futures would be bright as a field of daisies. That's their Cour du Cours. Not a farewell, but rather an expresed hope for us to see each other again.
It's often more the network that doesn't care about the shows and would leave room for proper ending

I always figured Neds dad left because like Ned, he could bring people back to life. Ned probably died as a little kid, dad brought him back, but figured he couldn't be around him. Due to accidental death touch. Or that perhaps Ned would die, dad would bring him back and his death would cancel out his abilities. Something along those lines.
That's a great idea except if Ned's dad had actually touched him and brought him back to life while Ned was a child he would never have grew into a man.
I just rewatched the first season, his dad tussles neds hair. Although i like that theory
jet44444 That’s my theory. And in regards to the flashback perhaps that was in neds mind. Maybe he was wearing a glove when he touched his head.

@Lola Montez we don't care.. either it's the original cast with the original narrator as a tv show not a movie or a musical (like wtf? ) Or nothing.. I would hate to see something so perfect end up less of that it was..

The show's obviously not finished. Ned hasn't reconciled with his father yet. Also, there's that opportunity wasted seeing Vivian and Lily's reaction and their damn lot of questions... sadly, the show was cancelled :/

Such a cute ending, considering everything. Everyone getting a perfectly happy end fits in with this cheerful show.

Correction, it was the greatest.
The finest television show of our generation. It's one of the few times in my life I have ever felt a genuine sense of excitement at watching a work of art unfold. ABC don't only SUCK for cancelling this, they are cultural vandals. I am fortunate I am one of the few people in Australia to see this. The Nein network had both series in the can but never showed either. Thank GOD for DVDs.
I recently discovered this show. I just finished watching it and I feel nothing but emptiness and defeat knowing that there are only 22 episodes in which I can watch the adorableness that is Ned the pie maker. *sits in corner and cries*

I actually like this show and it was the only show I would watch religiously out of the hundreds of shows that was on the air at that time. I remember waiting for it to come on every weekend just so I can watch what happens next. Then it was canceled. WTF?
Criminal, the way they forced Pushing Daisies to wrap up an virtually no notice. Still, if it had to come to a hasty and rapid conclusion, I feel like the writers did the absolute best they could under the circumstances. This show was truly art.
It's almost 2023, and I still miss this quirky, adorable show...

I cried when this aired. Most amazing series ever, visually, emotionally, and creatively.
It was hasty, but also very well-done. I love the full-circle-ness of endings and beginnings, how life and death are a cycle (esp on this show haha), and it was nice of the writers to leave their ending on a note of hope :)
Never given it’s fair shot. One of the most original shows ever on TV.

This show was just ABSOLUTE MAGIC. That narrator deserves some kudos as well.
you know what would be perfect? a pushing daisies movie!! a friggin movie. just for closure. ned could patch things up with his dad again. there could even be a wedding in the end. oh good a movie would be!

Xantiago P They did the same thing for Farscape. A movie that is, not a shitty plot. It was a two part movie and it summed up the whole series.
I can't believe it was cancelled!! I used to watch this show all the time on TV...No wonder I couldn't find the last episode...I'm happy to see the end though-so nice-Thank you! :D
This was SUCH a great show. Sad when it ended, but i loved how they tied up all the loose story lines.
this end was so fast and inconcluded that I cant believe I watched two seasons for this!!! I was waiting for a wedding or like finding a way to make them touch each other, but no. Instead I got this rushed ending

Yeah he had planned at least 6 seasons....but sadly he got news halfway through season2 it was cancelled. It was too early for it's time in it's style. If it came out now it prob would be more popular like a Netflix series

This show deserves a revival. As does Hannibal... and Wonderfalls.... and most shows by Bryan Fuller.

I agree the show deserved better but the worst ending ever would have been if the show had ended on a cliffhanger that would never be resolved due to cancellation. Instead I think they tried to provide the conclusions of all the plot arcs they would have shown in future seasons. At least it was a truncated sort of conclusion to the series.

This scene always tears me up. ;(
Partially because I am sad that the show is over, but that's just a small part. More than anything, it is because it was a wonderful (albeit rushed, and far too brief) way to wrap up all the loose ends in a series that, to me, is nothing shy of a work of art.
The world is cruel to the new and the different, sometimes. But it makes me happy that, for a short while, this wonderful series brightened all our dim little lives.

I hate this ending so much, we deserved to see Cod hugging Penny, Lily and Vivian's reaction and questions, Olive truly falling in love and finding happiness within herself, Ned reconnecting with his dad, Chuck feeling happy having no need to hide, and to me the perfect ending would be Ned finding a way to break his curse, so the show could end with one of TV's best couple kissing! But they had to fit the ending into two minutes (I wished they at least did a 14th episode about this ending). This show deserved at least two more seasons...

The best show ever, the finest ensemble cast and the finest writing with direction and colors befitting high art. There was no excuse for cancelling the series. I could even forgive the idiots who cancelled Early edition but this truly was a travesty. Even some advance notice would heva been nice so that Bryan could tie up the loose ends.
I hate that the show was canceled with so many strings left hanging, but this little 2 minute wrap up was so beautifully done.

Digby the dog accidentally brushes against Ned and does not die. Ned realizes that after some period of time "Newed Life" becomes permanent.
Digby had been alive (and not aging) for over 20 years. Somewhere in the time it became permanent.
Now Ned and Chuck have to wait .., but for how long? Do they dare test it?
No one could have replaced Jim Dale as the narrator. He was perfect

Saw Lee Pace at TIFF in Toronto and didn't know what to say really, but a woman behind me yelled out about how she was still not over Pushing Daisies being canceled (which pretty much sums it up).
Best Emergency wrap-up ever. I don't care that they were rushing to tie up loose ends, that's more than some series do.
I cried like a little girl on this scene and fact is I didn't know what I was crying about...

The ending was so rushed, but at least we got an ending that was able to kinda sorta tie up all those storylines
It was one of the most unique shows on TV and I was glad to see the 2 seasons were on Roku TV , trouble is they were free for only a short time now you have to pay to watch

PD has recently arrived in Italy. But I see that you can understand me when I say I was heartbroken! I miss him terribly! How could they close the show? I never love a show so quickly.

For all those people who slate the ending - the writers did the best job they could when hearing the show had been cancelled after they shot the final episode. All the scenes in this had already been shot (bar the birds eye swoop through Couer'd'Couer). Look at the horrible CGI on Randy Mann's hand and the macaroni he's carrying, etc.
Still, I was very happy with this ending. It made me smile and upset me at the same time, it was colourful, and they tied up as many loose ends as they could.
This was such a great show! Bryan Fuller should really do a kickstarter campaign for a Pushing Daises movie. If he does do it, i think it would be fantastic.

It may have been rushed, but at least it was an ending. And a gorgeous way to end it, in my opinion.

@Meowmixer54 The TV show is cancelled, but the comic, which is coming out early this year, will mark as "Season 3" Bryan Fuller will write the first issue, and be the head writer, and the show's writers will write the rest. There are even some talks of doing this interactive thing where, while reading the comic, you can have original new music by show's composer. Keeping the musical part of the show. The entire, if not most, cast will be back to sing a few songs.

I'm crying cuz I miss this show so much. It was so beautiful and amazing. But it would seem as though there's no way to bring it back with an ending like this... Gah. I want it to though... :(
