    Great info! I’m dealing with a 2 bulging discs, A Spondy & disc unroofing & Modic type 1 changes to end plate at L4/L5 & L5/S1. It’s not only the lifestyle changes but also the mental health aspect that is daunting at 8 weeks in 😳

      I pray you feel better soon. I have something similar going on. I am six and a half weeks in pain with L5 old fracture having calcification pressing on the nerve and my SI joint dysfunction with pinched nerve causing my left leg and foot to be numb. I have a tens machine to help ease the pain, SI belt for helping me to do my day to day chores, and I have been taking supplements to help heal the back. I also went to a pelvic floor therapist. She said my muscles were all tense and angry. I saw her on Monday. It helped me tremendously. Also I was told I have a herniated disc.

    Thanks doc! I completed the CBT program, and am SO THANKFUL to have more knowledge & ownership of my body & health. Now I can identify the source of SI instability, and know how to stabilize my lower back before it goes out completely. The practices you've shared are such a huge gift to us who have been searching for years. Sending so much appreciation your way! Sending best wishes from Austin to you and yours! Thank you for sharing in such a wide, accessible format!

    Great information, you are the first person to mention to stay away from the couch, but i would also add soft mattresses. Muscles need support from top to bottom.

    I know you think scoliosis can be fixed, which I believe my spine is straightening out, but how do I fix my leg length discrepancy? I did a dexa scan and my entire right side is smaller.

    Another excellent vid. Just ordered a standing desk and treadmill. Standing wither breaks is repetitive and harmful to already-injured-backs.

    The main problem for me when sitting on the floor is, I get into my head too much when it’s time to get up and I end up, hurting my back straining to get up. and I saw some of the tricks like the bear style stand, but that sometimes hurts, as well. Is there a good technique for getting up off the floor that doesn’t involve that Ben- over, hands-on-the-ground bear style? Thank you!!

    Hi there, I really appreciate all your advice for back injuries! I’m a 21 year old male with grade 2 spondy at L5S1 and the majority of my pain comes from sciatica pain I feel in my glute and hip. I sustained this injury from running heavy and haven’t been able to return because of other setbacks. Will I be able to return to running or is it too intense for spondy? Thanks!

    What if the biggest challenge is sitting without back support? For example a stool.

    This not for me because of old age and arthritis knees

      Hi I'm a newbie
      Congrats on your child.
      My son is a lawyer & works from home since covid so he's always on the computer & cell with
      clients. He uses the exercise ball to sit on for years but now got a stand up desk. Uses the treadmill too.

    • @cchemmes-seeseeart3948
      @cchemmes-seeseeart3948 Місяць тому

      But it's not all or nothing. Many things on the list you can do. You could try to do as much as you can. Maybe you can't sit on a chair without support all day, but you could use an exercise ball as your chair for at least a little bit, here & there. He talks about how he does 'as much as he can." You could add even just a tiny bit more standing rather than sitting. Or, as he said, either stand up or lie down more; sit less. When talking on the phone, just try to move a bit, even if you move about in your chair or lying down; keep moving. Even if you only walk for one minute, it's better than not at all. (Knee arthritis may be messed up alignment; sometimes such things are not what they seem as well. I thought I had arthritis & I didn't. I had to strengthen my adductor leg muscle with exercise bands, plus doing 'bicycle' motion at the pool for physical therapy exercise & it worked, to pull my knee cap back in alignment & stop pain. Crawling: if you can't crawl on your hands/ knees, maybe you could try like me: when going up the stairs, go up on your hands & feet, bending over, to relieve back pain. Hanging: even if you can't hang all the way with a push up bar, you could hang part way, such as at a park, just partly stretching with your legs still on the ground. (Or hang a jump rope over the top of a door, and just sort of 'hang' partially from that). And old age doesn't keep you from eating fish or cod liver oil; anti-inflammatory foods. Or walking barefoot around the house. Or using a massager. And you can take breaks from sitting too long. Blessings. Have a great day.
