- Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Retro Vault! A journey back through time, looking at classics from the PS1, XBOX/PS2, XBOX 360 and PS3 area, maybe even further back too!
In episode three, we will be looking at the story from Westwood Studio's faithful point and click game, Blade Runner. Set during the events of the 1982 film of the same name, this game featured a really cool, original storyline!

Interesting bit of Trivia for you guys, the girl who plays the little girl Lucy, is the actress Pauly Perrette, who plays Abby on NCIS (the goth forensic tech)
She sounded familiar, also the VA for Steel is Cuddy from House

blade runner ending still my favorite, its clean, ruthless, and straight with the game lore
"A portrait of the sleep deprived" Every time you try to make him go to bed lol
I think this series is a good idea, there's lots of old games I probably wouldn't enjoy playing for a variety of reasons, but I am deeply fascinated by all the stories untold and mysteries unexplored because of me not ever playing these, so this is a great bridge to close that gap.

I have fond memories of the Christmas that I got a PC box set that had this, Wing Commander Prophecy and Dune 2000. That was an absolute banger trio!

The only canon ending is the one where the dog lives, surely.
I remember playing it back all those years ago. My English weren't completely fluent, so I think a lot of subtleties went over my head back then.

baited me hard with this, thought it was two videos in a day, look forward to next week then!
Here's the for and against McCoy being a Replicant:
For:
* The picture (with a counter in 'against' in a sec).
* Guzza says he's seen incept data for McCoy.
* Tyrell addresses McCoy in the same way he does all other Replicants.
* Clovis can spare McCoy if he doesn't go all antagonistic. No reason to do that at the end unless he really is a Replicant.
* McCoy can be shot several times and survive.
* He can take scorpion venom and survive (although see counters in a sec).
* Gaff's entire script seems to hint it: "If you retire a human, your life is over. Remember that." Except a) You can kill humans and survive in this game and b) Read it as 'if you retire AS a human your life is over...' which, of course, retirement is a euphemism for Replicants being executed. The hint is if McCoy pretends to be human, he will be Retired anyway. The other hint is how Gaff compliments him on doing a "man's work" i.e. 'the work of a man' because he is NOT a man.
Against:
* The picture proves nothing as on the same picture you can scan the fire and it shows an oddity that McCoy is missing. So even if McCoy IS a Rep, the picture can't prove it, and it is the biggest evidence to indicate it.
* Mia & Murray have seeningly known McCoy for some time. Too long for him to be a Nexus 6. Seeing as he is a new Blade Runner, if he is a Nexus 6, he only exists to infiltrate the LAPD and he seems to have had too much of a personal life before being a Blade Runner for that.
* If Deckard is also a Rep, which he might not be, it narrows McCoy's chances as Tyrell wouldn't risk two Nexus 6's infiltrating the LAPD as discovery of one would likely lead to discovery of both.
* Guzza is a liar and his testimony is going to be suspect. He's told this off of Clovis who also has reason to lie. Two liars don't make a truth.
* Whilst McCoy can take some scorpion venom, he can still die by being stung.
* He shows sufficient emotional response to be a human.
I think he isn't as the picture is forged but I suppose all it proves is that McCoy isn't part of the Moonbus Massacre and might be from a different stock. I just don't buy it.
Deckard however is totes a Rep.
Quite a few endings for an older game. Point and click games arent my cup of tea but i enjoy your videos

I always regretted that I didn't finish this game when I played it. Turned out I already 1/3rd of the way through from watching this vid! 😊

In the original game, the replicant randomizer also includes McCoy. In some playthroughs he will be, in others he won't be.

Blade Runner, one of the finest pieces of anti-capitalist media ever produced whose production was inspired by Philip K Dick 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'.
It's anti-corpo, which effectively functions as a state.
It's more anti-state than anything, just look at LA today and you'll see the effects.
@@GameFuMaster yet again I hear that it's anti-state when private property exists within its universe. In order to protect private property, you need an enforcement agency that protects its assets and that's called a state with private property laws. The corporations within the BR universe are also run by a hyper capitalist mode of production in mind akin to the industrial revolution where "people" (the replicants) are used as institutionalized slave labor. It's dystopian in not only as it is regressive in many ways but also as a society which values the lives of people so little they would be raised like artificial livestock for the benefit of a few.

You can also drive off with Lucy in the ground car instead of Dectora and you can try and gather all the replicants you have encountered so all of them will fly off with you in the moonbus (Lucy, Sadik, Dectora, Clovis and Zuben)

I remember when I had the 2-disc C&C Red Alert, there was a trailer for this game at the time (1998) and a Trailer for the Dune RTS game. I was never able to find a CD copy of this game despite how much I wanted to play it at the time. It was in the same gameplay style as the original Resident Evil games on PlayStation.
A humble request, please have a look at a game called "realms of the haunting" it is a get that gets almost no interest and yet the story is really good also so is the game play.
