Zhang Zimou copied not most but some of Papaioannou ideas. For example the spark from solar clock, two athlets at closing ceremony and some another. So Zimou did copy. This is China what do you expect. But the idea with paper roll was perfect.

Just like China has always done in modern times (especially in technology ) , what do you expect from a country whose citizens never been really free for all of its existence. They hopped from one dynasty to another and then a communist dictatorial regime
